"You can hear doubt, but don't listen to it." I guarantee I will be passing this along to my sons.

I needed this this morning. Woke up feeling done. In 3 months I've lost my wife, my kids, my job, and my car is down. Really felt like giving up this morning. Can't quit. Update: found a job!

I always used to say soldiering was a single-man's game. After the army, my wife left, she took my truck and my dog who died the same year and never got to say goodbye. Now because I'm out and work full time, the CA court gave her majority time with my son, even though we have 50/50 custody (she found a sugar daddy). Our children are THE most important thing. Learning how to focus on your internal valor, endurance, and trusting in your buddies around you is all you have. Cherish it, develop it, and it will reward you greatly. God bless you You are not alone

In my first ultra distance race I was doubled over on the side of the trail hating life and getting ready to say forget this. Some 100 mile runner jogged by and checked on me. After listening to me bitch and complain and for a couple of minutes, and once I calmed down a little, he patted on the shoulder and said, "the pace is forward. Always forward". Best advice i was ever given in the running world and that mantra took me across a lot of finish lines after that. Across a lot of stacked conture lines.

I'm a two-time failure from Selection, and I agree that's a marvelously run course. I said at my final exit interview I would continue to come back as long as I could, even knowing I would never make it. It's an excellent chance to observe people defeating themselves.

For some this is easy or natural, for others its a constant conflict. It doesn't come easy for me. But in those times I hold on to words of my high school gym teacher and coach, "master the fundamentals" break the problem down to the basics and take it one piece at a time. What do you know or can do, start with that. As I've gone on I've reinforced that with "basic dude stuff", "discipline equals freedom", "warrior poet", and "LOGIC". Thank you to these men who share the lessons learned to motivate and move the pack (sheepdogs) forward.

Pat Mac Rocks. Crazy ass combat vets like him helped not die in addiction and ptsd violence. The only guys Ive ever found with the level of compassion, dark humor, "get up you whiney shit and get moving" . Learned this one. Go out where you won't be arrested. Scream, shake your fists, curse and yell at whatever Demon is screwing with you. Attack it, hit it with sticks, name that Demon and drive it away. Sounds crazy ? Having my life ruled by negative voices is pretty nuts. I used this, and other tools to escape a severe addiction issue that was physically and spiritually killing me. That addiction Demon is a dirty bastard.

I felt this when I was just marching with a 35lb pack across town to get back in shape. When I got to mile 15 of 20, that’s when the feet started nagging and I started feeling faint and the back & shoulders were burning. I was really out of shape and the heart started nagging as well. I nearly called in a ride. But after a 15 minute break, adjusting socks & shoes, some water and a low dose aspirin, I sucked it up and continued. Those last five miles sucked, and it took a few days for me to recover, but I made it. Don’t entertain doubt too long, give more attention to the desire or necessity to succeed.

My anxiety controls my life from the time I wake up till I go to sleep. It fills my mind with doubt! It’s mostly because of people.. social anxiety 🙄
@azhivago2296
@azhivago2296 2 года назад
Face the fear incrementally, bro. Start with something small, like every day trying to chit-chat with cashiers at Walmart or wherever - begin with one every day. It'll become a new habit. Then force yourself to join a salsa class or something - embrace the awkwardness, own being a shit dancer, and just try and be a little chatty. Do that for three months and I 100% guarantee you'll feel more confident - you'll get massively better at managing the anxiety and you'll feel a shit ton more confident as a result. It's a choice man - stay where you are now until you die, or take action, step into discomfort, and force yourself to adapt and grow... I hope you make the right decision. Very best of luck.

@@azhivago2296 I appreciate the reply. But honestly the thought of that sounds terrifying! Lol but today I’ll be climbing a 40 foot ladder in a bee suit in the Fl heat to remove a huge bee hive. I can make myself do that in fear.. but talking to a person or a group of people is like ahh go run into traffic. Freaking hate anxiety. Thanks for the advice!

Loved this one I can relate to alot this as part my selection for uk army unit I do rember the 44k ruck or as we call TAB is was just boring leg and feet and mind all ready to take it on but was grueling I also adopted the straight up and over approach and try run the flats and jog down hill when possible. Defo bring back old memories this one ha and yeah also very fit guys wanting cave in and get on medical wagon I just plain refused to give in always 1 foot in front the other only way

We did 94km in 3 days in finnish navy. Though not a full ruck on the back thank god for that lmao. It was part of a 4 day NCO training final exercise, designed to make us quit. So much shit happened in that 4 days you wouldn't believe it. 3 hours of sleep total, 1 warm meal and a few packets of crisp bread Obviously it wouldve been a walk in the park for Pat, but it really brought back same kind of memories of doubt, yet I didnt thought of quitting either. They really tempted us to quit too, driving along side us eating Big Macs (and throwing the garbage on the road for us to pick up), telling us that all you have to do is say the safeword ("I'm not fit to be NCO") and the suffering would be over
