@@nataliestewart6343 it means “don’t complain about any of the prejudiced jokes, because he applied himself to make jokes about all the races.” Even though he didn’t, but he did say jokes about all the races present, at least on the dais.
After watching Don Rickles for over 50 years I can honestly say he was the funniest guy I have ever seen. That is just my taste. I just loved the way he knocked everybody no matter what race, color etc BUT he loved everybody. This man ruled with class.
Look what happened to a world we now live in where people get offended so easily, everyone should be able to laugh at themselves. No one does a roast better than Don RIckles. Not a hateful bone in his body, so funny.
EarlofSuave308 Not saying I never liked Rickles and it's always good when people get their yucks but I missed them here. Not because Rickles is an insult comic but because none of this is funny. Revisiting his stuff on RU-vid, I think people yearn for an age when he said what they were thinking. I'd be nice to him if they ever wheeled him by on a gurney but he's celebrated because he's outlived the Rat Pack he was associated with and thankfully, he's lived a long life.
+matt helm actually all of this is very funny to the people in that era. You wouldn't understand over half of his jokes because they were appropriate for the day and time and everyone there just "got it!" Simple as that, his humor is still looked at as a comedy from the old days, yet he's still here to perform it opposed to just watching them on youtube that is the point. We still have a great one from those days here with us performing in 2015. I hope he lasts another 10yrs and I get to see him live.
+Giggidygiggidy12 I'm from that era. Telling Nipsey the hotel needed cleaning or the stuff about Senator goldwater's failed Presidential Campaign and I wouldn't understand it? Don't try to mistify it. Either you like him or you don't. Some of his routines are funnier than others, this one isn't one of his best. And I hope he and his wife are around alot longer too.
Dino was the king of the fake laugh! I love watching him do it. I’ve done it myself a few times and people always say- you’re doing the Dino laugh aren’t you?
I’ve been USING Don Rickles from ALL his appearances on RU-vid now for about 2 years as my THERAPY.....I’ve watched 100’s of his appearances...he ALWAYS brings me to tears...I feel elated with humor and love after watching him ...RIP Mr Rickles
I love how he ended every roast with a note of respect rather than leaving things in just a state of insult. Beautiful. Comedy has it’s place, but so does respect
Evil Kneivel said, “ Every black kid should have a white hero, and every white kid should have a black hero, that would end racism” but I loved him before he said that, he was my childhood hero, a real life Superman.
You had Babe Ruth,Elvis,Sinatra, micheal Jackson, Beatles but for me no one compared to a man in a jumpsuit with red, white and blue and went by a simple name. EVEL
I'm 35 years old and I love Don! He really was the best at roasts. I love how back then people could laugh at racist jokes/stereotypes. Nowadays everyone gets so offended by every little thing. I'm Mexican/American and find those jokes so funny, bring em on I say.
Of all the comedians in the whole world he would have been the one I wanted to go see the most , I would have sat in the very front row and just waited for the chance to be tore up by him and loved it .he was truly and all ways will be the greatest .
I watch these old "roasts" and see all the familiar faces and hear those golden voices, and I think to myself, man, they were all like old friends or family members to me, in so many ways . Grandfathers and grandmothers, uncles, aunts, and distant cousins, etc. etc. . Watching these old videos, is similar to flipping through the pages of an old photo album. Moments are recalled, that I had almost completely forgotten. Sadly, like those in the old photo albums, most of them are gone now, the laughter has ended, their voices silenced, they've slipped away from us in what seems like, a blink of an eye, but..... how the memories remain .
Don Rickles, the only man who could roast all and himself so fast that by the time you thought he'd get to you he'd look in your direction and say "Hey you putz, you've already had yours." Truly a comic of many talents, born in a perfect time to stand among the many other greats. Rest in peace to you and know you will not be forgotten
God that kiss and those words at the end to Evel... so heart warming and beautiful. What an honor to be roasted in such a way that means love to Evel and all that were caught in the crosshairs of Don’s love and genius. I was smiling and laughing and just loving this (had never seen this before) and then those endearing words and that lovely kiss at the end... I am crying as I type this. Evel is a true Warrior as it is/was but you can see him completely disarmed and looking like a child feeling the love of a parent. God this is such a beautiful moment. Soooo good to see this.
To do that on the fly, no script, one right after the other like a machine gun, if one joke doesn't land keep moving and the next one will....no one like Don Rickles, before or since. A true comic genius and nice guy.
LAUGHED LAUGHED!!! THE TEAR'S FLOWED LIKE CASCADED WATERFALLS!!!! ABSOLUTLEY FUN!!! THOSE 1970'S SHOWS SUPERB INDEED!!! THANKS FOR THE POSTING. WELL DONE MR DONALD RICKLES!!! HOPE WE SEE MORE OF YOU FOREVER!! AN 88YEAR OLD NOW!!! FROM(U.K.).
i can remember having the evel knievel stunt cycle w/ action figure that you put on a ramp and turned a handle to make it go and there was a daring debbie version that was a stunt car w/ a female for girls too. i had both being a tomboy as a kid i had some of the neatest toys for both girls and boys! it was a great time to be a kid in the 70's! the things we played w/ wouldn t be sold these days! thank goodness i was born back then and not in the 90's or later!
As a kid, I remember everyone trying to build ramps, ride bikes, and jump everything like this guy. A child may not understand why a soldier is a Hero, but a guy that jumps buses? THAT, they understand. RIP; and thanks for giving us "Captain Robbie!"
Evel influenced the building of a ramp I made when I was in 7th grade. I jumped 12 ft. on my 3 speed Free Spirit bicycle and landed on my face.Precious memorys. Evel was/is one of a kind. Forever Evel.
@Todd Davis - I used to do that too, my father had scaffolds and I used the planks to jump garbage cans or whatever else we could find. I remember paying a lot of money for a ticket to watch him jump a canyon in his rocket. It fizzled out, I felt bad for him.
@@nja3224 I felt bad when the rocket crashed but that whole thing was silly. A rocket? Cmon. Anyway, he was a super hero. Wish I'd thought of scaffolding. We had some around.
Don Rickles was an absolute comic genius! God, how I missed the era when people could laugh at themselves without others getting "righteously" offended. 🙄
