DON'T MAKE THIS FRENCH MISTAKE! - Use "rendre" instead of "faire" - French grammar tips

Speak French with Confidence with my 4-step methodology: bit.ly/3qMPU7L
"You make me so mad", "You drive me crazy", "The food made me sick", "It made me lose control", "It wasted my time". How would you say these in French? Chances are you're using, or have used, "faire" to translate them. Whilst "faire" can work in some cases, there is a very simple rule to decide when to use "rendre" and actually, a lot of the time, you should be using "rendre" over "faire". Not because it's cooler, but it's actually correct and "faire" isn't.

Again, this is something I've never seen anywhere else during my studies. Merci beaucoup. It will also help me to read or listen to French speakers.

Good video as always. Haven’t used rendre before but can use it now. Just me, but I can’t concentrate well with the music, lovely as it was. Nice clear teaching.

Totally agree. I’m so grateful that the newer videos Alex is making have no music.

Très bonne leçon mais je sais pas si vous auriez du parlé de 'rendre visit' dans la même vidéo ou est-ce que c'est une sujet complètement différente ?

Salut Vicky. "Rendre visite" ne figure pas dans cette vidéo ? Parce que ce n'est pas possible de parler de toute les utilisations de chaque verbe, probablement :). Tu as de la confusion par rapport à "rendre visite" ? Je peux essayer de t'aider.

Is "S'Y REND" a word by itself?
@FrenchinPlainSight
@FrenchinPlainSight 2 года назад
S'y rendre would be the infinitive form. Je m'y rends = I go (there) as an example of a conjugated form.

@@FrenchinPlainSight My question why don't they use the verb ALLER? Thank you
@CapitaineGMC
@CapitaineGMC 2 года назад
@@mauricel5610 Hi there, in this case we can use both, they are synonyms. 'J'y vais' - I go (there) - or 'Je m'y rends' - I render myself (there), which is a very poor translation just to show you the difference of verb. 'Se rendre' as a synonym of 'aller' can sound a bit more formal, or high-level French. 'Aller' is more basic, simpler in a way.
