Cosimo Crupi Deen and Steve. That's it for me. Arnel just isn't my cup of tea. He looks somewhat out of place. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way.
efesgirl999 This comment is spot on,everyone has there own likes and dislikes, for me Arnel is no'1 but thats just me,we all have different taste.....great comment.
WOW, Deen, is terrific singing lead Don't Stop Believing, Why didn't the band believe in him enough to go for it !!!!!! Love you, Deen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm 54 & a very long time fan of Journey. I can't believe his voice was not known for so many years. His voice is still Awesome & has surpassed Steve's now. What an Awesome performance this is, in multiple respects!!!
Hi my name is trevin and I'm the guitarist right of deen in that band and I know deen personally he's an amazing guy who does amazing things for people in need. Without him there would be no video to be commenting on and this is also a boys and girls club page if you have anything to ask or say please message me I'd love to answer questions about my band inhibition so don't be shy
Antonio FN deen has severe stage freight, that's why he declined the frontman job and took on the drums. Shows how talented he is to be able to rock a drum set and sing at the same time. Best of all time if you ask me.
I agree that back in the day, Deen really did a great job singing the Journey songs, and Mother/Father, among others is a great accomplishment... cuz he's playing great drums at the same time he's doing a challenging vocal. That said, it's so tough trying to do these power tunes night after night. No matter how good your technique is, you get tired, you have little vocal injuries... just like tweaking muscles playing sports... and you have to figure out other ways to hit approximate notes. That starts the slide into destruction of your voice. On this video, Deen has many off notes, and many thinner, raspier sections where he's straining. And this is just one song. Hat's off to him for supporting these kinds of activities!
@@PeachWNK Didn't say he was destroyed. I saw a vid of Dean himself describing why he wouldn't want to sing full-time / all the time for a band with Journey's type of songs. He's a great singer & drummer, but I was paraphrasing his words on overuse/abuse. I was also a singer and I began damaging my voice from overuse, and avoiding continual training and decent breaks between gigs. They loved me when I sang Journey and Starship, as well as Zeppelin, Cars, Clash, etc... but got pissed when I started fragging out. Ended up getting out of performing music, and into broadcasting... which worked out pretty well.
@@stevegirard-voiceaudiopodcasts Your original post doesn’t read the way I thought it did, so don’t know what changed. Anyway, I guess my point was you said “back in the day.” Your observation about continual use/abuse speaks for all singers. Not just drummers. And, even the well trained can experience what you’re mentioning. (Including sounding thin. Arnel doesn’t sound so hot anymore.) Steve Perry himself shows that. I’ve watched the interviews, as well. His choice to stay behind the kit seems more based on just not wanting to be a frontman. It wasn’t his gift.
Deen is not trying to be another Steve Perry. It just he can sing very good, just like Steve. Plus do both sing and play the drums. All Journey was looking far in Steve , was to be their lead singer. And that's what Steve did. Until he start having health problems with his hip. Plus top it off the death of his mom. Now that would pass me into depression. The lost of your mom. So Steve had a lost of things going against him. But he's back with the love and help of his late girlfriend, Kellie Nash. 🙏
The trouble of being a singer as I read below. That would be it, he is a great singer, never understood why he wasn't the new Journey singer, maybe it is a very hard job, but Deen has such a great voice, I just wished he would go for it.
He should be Journey’s lead vocalist. He sounds better than Arnel. He sounds as close to Steve Perry than anyone I’ve ever listened to. He’s awesome at holding those long high notes.
I'd love to see Castronov singing regularly. I imagine a LOT of people would. He's amazing. In fact, I'd say he's on the same level as Steve Perry. That's not easy to do. But it's also NOT easy to be a front man, and from what I keep reading, Deen's got a bad case of stage fright. That, and apparently he loves the drums. I can understand singing 'once in a while' with circumstances like that. Don't push the man, if Journey's lucky enough to get him back. Let him sing when he wants to. Let's enjoy hearing him when we get to.
did someone get to ask deen if he wants to sing more than play drums? deen knows the trouble of being a singer, you'll sing all the high notes,13-15 songs everyday for 3-4 months..if he was singing for journey more likely he is now retired and has been replaced by a younger vocalist.journey doesn't need a singer, they need a work horse..the very reason why perry left
five minutes ago i posted on an other vid, that Deen should have become Journey's singer.... But i guess you're right... didn't think about that. But he has the right mix of singing like Steve ( - like the audience knows and loves the songs - ) without trying to imitate his voice.
The very reason it's such a shame they couldn't make it work with Greg Rolie on keyboards/vocals and Perry as lead/co-vocalist. Just listen to Feeling That Way/Anytime. Gregg had the perfect voice for lead vocals on some material and their voices complemented each other's at other times. It's not like Gregg was a slouch as a vocalist... considering he was their singer in their first 4 albums and the voice most associated with Santana. Had Rolie and Perry been able to coexist, who knows how long each of them could have continued with Journey.
I agree...a front mans job is strainuous....your vocal cords could sufffer... for keeping such acrobatic notes...on and on ...song after song...they do need a backup singer to give any front man a break in between...they need to take care...more...
Absolutely love this guy! If Journey were smart they would get him back in the band and front it. Whats amazing he is not trying to sound like Perry or even come from a cover band who IS trying to sound like Perry, that is the way he sings. Freaking #Revolution Saints!
they rocked hope Deen gets back to journey or start bad English up with Waite guitarist from giant and keyboardist from giant and the original bass player for English and hardliners rock on dean
Yeah would of love to seen that I told bill leverty on his Facebook page that he needed to play guitar and reunite bad English cause Neal schon still plays guitar for journey
Just listened to some of Deen vocals some parts of his voice is there that sounds like Steve Perry but I don't know if he could do a whole concert night after night he has vocal range but srry ppl he is No Steve Perry no one is no one will ever b Steve Perry there's Only One
Deen Is as good as steve if you ask me and better because he plays the drums for them as well for the other steve too and yes he can sing the entire concert nite after night he did so for several months when they lost there last singer while still on tour! yes there will never be another steve perry and there will never be another Deen Castronovo either! you dont even know how good he really is! and yes he is that good!
Deen refused to lead the band. He said he would rather play drums and sing a few. arnel was a mistake. arnel has no soul in his voice like Steve or Deen.
