I've missed the sights & sounds more than I realized...very nostalgic, tagging along with you again!---(Shoulda explained about the statue sacrifices!)
Hi Alana, I have missed all these wonderful comments! About the sacrifices: I thought about explaining what I was told then figured I would not share hearsay. Although the explanation seemed reasonable, I had not researched it myself, so why go courting' trouble?. I suppose one could do a web search about Hindu statues thrown in the water... 🙂
Hi Jody, this lake is well known for good fishing the trout species are very shy and will go the other way when a diver come near, I saw several on this dive but they were always leaving! They don't show up well on camera either and unless I am close they are hard to see. As for plant life, Donner is a typical High Sierra mountain lake, there are sections with a lot of plant life but those sections are shallow and level. I have made several videos here and this link.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Uo7BvqKrq0.html. will take you to one that shows quite a bit of plant life. thanks for tuning in!
Ok dr. Mokpot, My daughter and I are watching again . when you do the thumbs up on a good find I look at her face while watching your viedo .... She will always smile 😃 . Thank you for your clean videos.
Hi from Plymouth UK. I've been diving around the UK for about 40 years (I'm 72 now) and still get in the water as often as possible. At the moment the sea temperature is 19 degrees C, that's the warmest I've ever seen it locally.
Hey there! We close to the same number of years diving experience, I did my first open Water dive in 1979, but I think I must have started diving significantly earlier in life than you! You are never too old to dive... until you are. LOL. Just teasing! Diver to diver, Teasing dive friends seems to be something we do here in the US of A Good of you to take time to comment, Happy Dives!
@@mokpot I take this opportunity to tell you that the bell notifications are deactivated, if I could unlock that function I would receive notifications of new videos thanks
I know that hobie makes kayak's so those glasses might be polarized for fishing if cleaned up if its the same company. if you have a bad set of tweezers I have found out that if you take and pinch them together and run the sides up by the tip where they pick up or grab hair you can run those sides across a sheet of like 500 or 1000 grit sandpaper and it helps to re shape them again or better than factory where they can grab hair or whatever! Its just a good tip Ive learned cause every woman probably has about five pair of tweezers thrown to the side somewhere that they have collected cause they dont like them anymore because they get to where they can't use them anymore! I use them all the time working on something. Also I have missed your videos because you have some of the clearest water in your videos! I would love to be certified to dive but here in TN this water looks pretty scary to me and looks close to diluted chocolate milk! I just have a small fear of this water cause its no telling what you would see or run into down there!!
Those are some great tips for tweezer repair.... Thank you! I have done a few low visibility dives now and then but, the clear water does make for better videos!
Donner lake is around the same area where they found Kiley Rodni. I think her cell is still missing but I could be wrong. Did you happen to search those areas when she was missing to help? Just thought I would ask cause I heard somewhere that another diver tried to help and they told him he wasnt needed in the search witch I thought was odd!
I am not local to the Donner area and had not heard about Kiley until I arrived for the day. As for diving with people you do not know... including while doing a search and recovery, not all diver"s are equal in skill, training, equipment, and ability. Involving an unknown diver in a team that has likely trained together and likely has procedures to follow, would likely just be a burden. This is just my opinion. Donner Lake is not a beginner's dive. It is cold and deep and become's very dark as you go deeper. It goes deep close to shore and angles down sharply. I believe that having excellent bouyancy skills is critical here. I have taken several friends here and a few of them said they were disoriented by the conditions.
In the AWP video they put out to the public yesterday they ran sonar on I believe donner lake and Doug was saying how steep the drop was and how quick it dropped from the shore
Mark I really enjoy following you on your dives. On the big screen tv it's like I'm right there...minus the occasional asthma attack.🤣 Nice find on the knife! Definitely a 👍👍👍👍
They’re professional grade. Sold in Walgreens. I learned about them with a tiny sliver of glass in my foot! I’ve never bought any other brand! Well worth it! Plus they’re guaranteed!
Hey PND, I have never used a Hooka System but they do look like they do a shallow depth purpose. If I may: I recommend you take a Scuba Certification course to use the Hooka, the principles of physics and SCUBA related science still apply when using a Hooka rig. Actually the greatest pressure changes by depth occur in the first 10-20 feet which is the hook range. It is possible to be injured using one. If a Certification course is not possible you can always self teach by seeking Information on Diving Science through books or even RU-vid. I hope to see you in the water, or at least hear about an adventure some time.
Thank you Sir for the amazing videos! Was at that exact dock 5 days ago! Initially looked up Donner lake on RU-vid for info and your dive videos popped up! I am now hooked. Thank you Sir
Glad to hear you're rehydrated from your last dive. Fun video. Do you dive with a safety diver? Or are you experienced enough that you don't need one??
Thanks for the question Joseph, While I don't always dive solo, I often do when making videos or 'treasure' hunting. Solo diving is not for everyone, but I have enjoyed it for decades. I also enjoy sharing dives with friends, but really enjoy the peace of diving alone. As with all thing SCUBA, each diver should dive according to their Ability,Training, and comfort... and NEVER exceed these things. Diving solo requires being willing to blow off a dive if conditions are not just right, this includes conditions in your own mind also. I have driven for hours to do a solo dive then turned around and went home because I didn't feel my head was in the game. It often requires special gear, redundancies in all critical equipment. OK so this was a long answer... but it can be a complicated subject.
We're in the area and we're heading out today to do some searching with my two sons thx for the inspiration my kids are pumped to go searching for treasures as they call them
Andrew that is so cool! I hope they found something. If you go to swimming beaches in lakes, it is easier to find lost goodies and toys. Good Luck! I hope to see you all out there sometime!
Hey Pace Man... I am not seeing the phone but, I did see a container of some sort just under the lure. In so previous videos people have pointed out gold rings and other thing I missed.
Hey, that's my lost lure, I I keep losing it all over the place, keep a eye out for my wallet, its the one that has a lot of money in it but no ID hahahahahah
Hey Kurt, I found your wallet, I called you to let you know but when you did not answer I decided to keep the money. I called out the window, next time I will use the phone.
Considering forgetting to do stuff, my favorite items are anchors with no ropes.... or withe the rope attached but coiled and tied in a bundle. 🙄 I have found two anchors like that!😏
@@mokpot I was with my buddy and found a 14 pound anchor at Folsom Lake when it was down one time, I wish he gave it back to me when he sold his old boat so we could use it in my brothers boat!
I think your lake dives are my favorite. So peaceful and relaxing, just you, the crawdads and your bubbles. LoL! Looks like you found some nice stuff🌹Laura🌹
Beautiful area and lake! Nice find with the knife! Also those are a nice set of tweezers for sure. I use tweezers all the time for going through dirt at home for picking out pieces of gold.
Hi hi! That water is so crystal clear. It is like you are on another planet... so cool the way the colors of your treasures show up. Lots of cool finds, the ring is still shiny and pretty, and the stone bead bracelet is really neat! Although the caribeaner is neat, I wonder if I would ever trust using one because of how many I see being found...and usually intact. Thank you for the peace and quiet... it made me not hear the ":!%
You know Bevy, One of things I like most about Scuba Diving is that it is like visiting another world, I couldn't be an Astronaut so I scuba dive. : ). I like finding the Stone Bead Bracelets it is satisfying somehow. LOl about the Carabiner, Finding lost stuff that is used to secure, other stuff, should be a lesson... I have often thought that if I ever lose my ability to reason and I decide to bring my phone to a day on the water, I will use a sandwich ziplock bag. Of the four phones I have found in them, three still worked. A much better average than a $60 dry case, they seem to fail 99% of the time. (which is another lesson) Some people are soothed by a crickets "cricketing" (lol). I guesss it isn't a chirp is it? I myself think they look like jumping roaches... ew... Sweet Dreams!
@@mokpot lollll, a million crickets cricketing (new word) would sound peaceful, but ONE in the house seems like some sort of nonstop torture. Today it sounded near the sliding glass door so I left it open and he must of used it! Weee! Peace at last. I got a kick out of you finding proof that baggies over waterproof cases are more protective. Ok, can't wait for another viddy. You should go back to that clear place. So pretty. Oh and I wonder why there were no regular fish?
