Hi Mark..I really like your channel, and take every opportunity not to miss your videos, which I find very enjoyable. Seeing an underwater world that is peaceful and beautiful, and listening to the timing and rhythm of your breathing is very relaxing to me. Not to mention that bit of excitement at the possibility of finding any lost items or "treasures," (like old coins or jewelry) adding to the adventure, and It's just fun to watch these explorations from someone else's eyes. Especially because I, myself, unfortunately cannot scuba dive. Many years ago, I was in a relationship with a man who used to teach scuba diving when he was a young man, and before he was sent off to Vietnam. When he was in his Senior year in high school, he used to assist the police dept in North Carolina, in searching the waterways for certain items and even bodies that went missing. Kind of an interesting job for a young man to be a part of, as his father was well known among the local and state departments, though I don't remember in what capacity, though I digress. Anyway, he was thoroughly certified and had the equipment, so one day he thought he would teach me how to scuba dive so we could go diving together. I was very excited about it, because I was a very strong swimmer and loved the water. At the time, I lived next to the town of Los Gatos, in the southern bay area of northern California, which is also why I am fairly familiar with the locations of so many of your dives. I had a swimming pool with a deep end of almost 10ft., So it seemed like a great place to learn how to get familiar with using the equipment. I remember how apprehensive I was at first, allowing myself to breathe underwater, as humans don't normally do, like flying or anything else humans can't do without assistance. Once I began to swim around enjoying not having to come up for air, it was really amazing...until I tried to come up out of the water. I exhaled all the air out of my lungs like I was supposed to before surfacing, and then became terrified as I felt an incredible feeling of my chest being crushed in, as if I were lying down and someone weighing 100+ lbs were sitting on my rib cage. As I struggled to breathe, I knew I had to stay calm, but it's not easy to do when there is pain involved. It wasn't just pressure, but it hurt, like a huge cramp and a bit sharp. I was only able to take in small amounts of air, very slowly, until I could finally breathe on my own. But it totally scared me. My partner, after seeing that I was breathing normally again, proceeded to tell me, how he hated to give me any bad news, but that it looks like this would be an activity, I wouldn't be wise to ever try again.. Ever. I asked him what the heck happened to me, and has that ever happened to anyone he's taught this to before, and he said no, but he was somehow aware of the fact that occasionally there are people who may have some kind of genetic defect of the ear, nose and throat, that makes the breathing and depressurization(?) an issue. I asked my grandfather, who was an internal medicine MD at the time, and surgeon during the Korean war, (just like in the TV series "MASH") what he thought my problem was, and as I'd come to discover, I had some slight differences in my physiology that would make diving unsafe for me.. I have larger than normal sinus cavities,( mostly secondary) and the/my epiglottis (the flap that moves from one side to the other in your esophagus/throat, so we don't get food or liquid in our lungs when we breathe or swallow, is just slightly too small or doesn't completely seal off like it's supposed to. Which would explain, how every time I would jump into the water, feet 1st, from anything higher than the side of the swimming pool, it does not matter how hard I breathe out of my nose or hold my breath jumping in, water goes right up my nose to the back of my throat, every time. I could dive off of a 2 story building no problem whatsoever, but feet 1st? Forget it! To make an unintentionally long story shorter, and to return to the point, I was pretty disappointed, and definitely not interested in feeling that kind of crushing pain again, and the struggle I had to breathe is a definite deterrent. I was fine with the breathing under water, but coming up, or going deeper and coming up, was not only something I would always have problems with, but could actually be dangerous for me. With all that being said, it is precisely WHY I enjoy watching your dives so much. It allows me to do something I would normally thoroughly enjoy doing, but cannot. By watching your dives, it's almost like a treat because I can see it through your eyes and imagine myself being there doing the same thing. And although it's not quite the same as being there, it does allow me at least some measure of enjoyment, and being able to see things close up like you can. Sorry about the long comment, but I thought by sharing what I did, you could see why I really enjoy your diving experiences and adventures. Thanks so much for sharing the beauty and peacefulness of the underwater world, most people don't get to see. It's one of the best, least harmful ways, if only just for awhile, to escape all the nonsense and disappointment of our country's current failed leadership and widespread criminality , and the disturbing situations of our political environment. The betrayal and disrespect for everything we know to be morally correct, is beyond offensive, and enough to make any person that has a conscience, disgusted beyond what they could ever have imagined. Being that what it is, it's important for people to take the time out to detach from these nefarious wrong doings, and ground ourselves in what is natural and beautiful to our souls, and hopefully enjoyable, by freeing ourselves, our spirit and minds, with things that are simple and not complicated, remembering that there is beauty among the chaos, and an awareness of how seemingly small things, can often give us even more appreciation for things, maybe even more than they once or ever did. Thanks so much for creating this channel and the effort you take in making your videos and sharing them. It really is a beautiful thing when we don't have to make a huge sacrifice to make a difference or bring some genuine enjoyment to another person's life, and knowing the appreciation and what is given that goes with it. So now that I've "come up for air", (haha) I'll just end by saying thank you, and letting you know someone who you can be certain, truly enjoys your channel. I know I read somewhere before, about the Ray Ban sunglasses, having some kind of persuasive benefit to the purchase of their product, where if I'm not mistaken, if the frames or lenses get broken, they will replace them at no cost to you. I think "Oakley" sunglasses does this as well. Anyway, it may be worth it to you to look into that since you've found so many sunglasses, and quite a few that happen to be Ray Bans. 😉✌️ 👋 😇👉🕶️🔍

I am so sorry for your difficulties scuba diving, I do know that there are physical reasons some people can not dive and, my heart goes out to them and you. I love the water and being under it, it is my way of living in the moment and getting away from it all... Leaving all the troubles on the surface. This feeling of peace and calm, stays with me for quite some time after a dive. I am happy you feel a connection to these humble videos and can enjoy them. Yes, I love sticking my feet into streams and rivers, but always check for glass because people are always breaking glass around water. No respect for the wildlife nor people.

Alana! Many of the fins need to be attached each time you use your board. It has been my experience that they are not at all easy to put on correctly. Yes, I do get a few looks coming out of the water.. 😅 I hope all is well with you.
I completely agree with you Mark, leaving a shredded can like that is very dangerous, that person had zero regard for others. Swimming beaches aren’t much fun if the clean them. 😂 Just Kidding.
Mark thanks alot for cleaning up after these f ing pigs . Littering really pisses me off especially in the water ways. The torn can you wonder if they do that to cut up peoples feet that would put such a gash in your foot . I love the segment on the bags that is really interesting job well done Mark
Grew up in Carmichael, learned all the waters fishing, diving, floating, boating. I can usually pick out exactly where you are on the river. I'm sure you look at SJ Rapids. There's a big eddy there that collects things.
Hi Dave, It is pretty cool that you can recognize the places I am diving. Checking out that hole at the SJ Rapids it quite difficult with Scuba gear. I have friends who enjoy it with free dive gear. I do dive above and below the rapids
Nice to know you'll always remember where you left your spare anchor ! I know you can get replacement lenses for Oakleys, can you do that with Ray Bans ? Glad to see you carry that plastic lure container, I figured you would, but some people don't think that far ahead. lol PS. People who leave trash around makes me mad, but those that leave broken glass & shredded metal for others ( esp. children ) to be injured infuriates me ! :~)
Thanks for showing the bags. I was curious about them. I have a scar on my left foot from a broken bottle at a lake swimming area from my youth. Probably 5 foot of water. Stepped on it and took 17 stitches. I always wonder what possess folks to do things like the torn up can .
Yes. it is a mystery to me. I have found broken glass, rusty old nails and sharp metal, Fish hooks af all sizes and much more. It is why I always insisted my kids wear water shoes at the beach

Yes i have seen all you mentioned and more. Nails (rusty) jagged steel, metal shavings, spikes, wire, barbed wire, fishing hooks of all sizes… I could go on…

Love your videos! I was just wondering if you put out a dive flag or how do you stay away from boats? Also, does your lake get a lot of weeds in the late summer? Thanks!
Dive flag... in general no, because diving with my DPV I am covering a lot of territory. Towing a flag has proven to be an entanglement hazard, If I dive where a flag is required by law I always comply. Boats can be troublesome at times, staying deep is a good way to avoid them.
No i do not think so Philip. If you travel internationally you will notice the overwhelming amount of trash, including plastics that is dumped without a care. We in the USA actually do a decent job by comparison ty for tuning in.
