Stopping on a live track for anything other than a breakdown or fall on your own vehicle should be a lifetime ban. Hopefully something is done about it.

The only fact needed here is that stopping on track to help your daughter out is beyond silly. Own the mistake and apologise

Harriet should have immediately put her arm in the air and moved smoothly over to the Left. If she wanted to keep trying to find the gear, she could put her Right foot out. You simply have to do something when you drop that far off the pace. Her Mom should be banned for life from the racing org for blocking the racing line. This excuse about misread rules against passing on a checker never entered her mind in that amount of time. She decided to check on her daughter without regard for anyone else. That kind of disregard is not welcome on the street, much less the track.

Definitely fault with the person who stopped on track. If you're going to do that, you put your hand up as you round the corner and move off the line. Thats basic etiquette they taught us in novice group 🤦‍♂️

Stopping on a live track? What a complete and utter idiot. The following rider had absolutely no chance. Even watching it multiple times and knowing there is going to be a crash, I cannot spot anything until the last second. The guy who stopped needs a lifetime ban. Even when you know there is going to be a crash, I still have trouble picking up which rider it is in front that is going to cause it, there really is zero warning.

I’ve been riding on track for nearly 20 years now and that’s right up there with some of the most irresponsible riding I’ve ever seen, never mind just recently. If the lady in question (who caused the accident) just put her hand up and admitted she’d made an inexplicable mistake then fair enough but to come on here and try to mitigate that shit show is merely compounding the error. We all make mistakes, sometimes you just need to admit it and try not to repeat it.

Unless you are competition official, don't stop on the track if the checkered flag is out, don't stop if the yellow flag is out, don't stop if the red flag is out, don't stop on the track, period. If you have engine trouble, there is that green stuff on the side of the track where oil and coolant spill don't matter much. I understand that newbies can be confused at times and if the person stopped was a newbie on track that might be an explanation, but still, do not stop on the track.

She needs to be banned from all tracks. Her daughters on face book trying to say it’s 50/50 and not the total responsibility of her idiot Mum. Personally I’d be taking her to court and making her life hell in anyway I could until she admits responsibility and pays for the damage for the bike,kit and loss of earnings.

I bet she has a clean driving licence and has never had an accident but has seen loads in her mirrors. This is why practice starts are always done off the racing line. In 18 years of club racing, I thought I had seen it all in terms of the highs and lows but this is right down there in the lows. No excuses. The idiot gene is alive and well in the Drury household.

FWIW, 100% down to the rider who stopped to check on her daughter. Hanging out in the racing line, absolutely no indication she was stopping, not even a shoulder check to see what's behind. At around 98mph, the following rider had no time to brake or take avoiding action. Just plain bad riding on a Sunday morning bimble to Starbucks - shockingly (and dangerously) so on a race track. No excuse.

Glad you shared this. Other riders need to see stuff like this. It's amazing how many riders I share the track with that neglect common sense. Yeah, they paid to ride the track. But so did the riders in front of you and behind you. They is going to be some deviation between skill and reflexes. I can count more times than the digits on my hands that riders exit the track with no hand signaling or sweep to the outside their race line entering a turn. This is after riders' meetings and reminders NOT TO DO THIS STUFF on that day! For example, in this video, this rider in front of me almost forced me off the track while we clipped handle bars because it looks like he's busy smelling the grass or something. And this is Advanced class!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K8Fk_SfG4bE.html

What makes you think he was still travelling at full pace? Watch again and listen to the engine note - this is the fast group - he was ringing it’s neck out of Goddards and down the main straight - then saw the flag - after that the urgency was gone - no bouncing off the limiter. There was simply no excuse for the rider to brake hard to check on her daughter - she caused the accident and it’s there for all to see.

Hey bud, I was the one that "stopped". Glad to see you're okay, it's not a nice thing that happened for sure! We did try to speak to you but it seems you weren't listening. A couple things to clear things up: 1. Checkered flag was out, no overtaking was meant to be in place. 2. I missed a gear coming out of the corner which caused me to slow, I know it was very unfortunate but my "mate" (it's my mum for the record) didn't want to overtake on a checkered flag. Again, I am happy you're okay but it's just not all the facts really, maybe don't follow so close on a checkered flag as mentioned on the briefing. Literally don't even want an argument, you've clearly posted this for clout, hope we can have a decent chat about things, Harriet x
@nigelbess1915
@nigelbess1915 4 года назад
Nigel Bess All due respect man no matter whether the checkered flag was out or not you should never slam on your brakes like that On the drive out of a corner because another rider Is having technical issues. Clear example where common sense should override the no passing on a last lap rule. That rule was put in place to get riders to start slowing down and be aware of last lap not slam on your brakes to avoid passing a rider that missed a gear. I’m sure the organizers would rather someone pass in this situation than to slam on brakes out of a corner and cause a horrible wreck like that. Seems like you need to take more accountability here.
@harrietdrury7147
@harrietdrury7147 4 года назад
@@nigelbess1915 absolutely agree, I can't take responsibility, I'm the one who had the mechanical failure! But it was a case of backing off 80% for the checkered flag, it sucks it happened and I'm genuinely sorry and gutted it did. Trust me no one goes out there wanting a crash, a case of a nasty thing to happen at a bad time, you can't blame it all on one person, thanks for responding and reaching out though, I think we'll just disagree whatever the case, no point in pointing fingers. Hope you're better soon x

Inaccurate. Msv briefing states no fast overtakes and reduce speed. Not jump on the anchors and dick about on the racing line. You should know better. That wasn’t backing off. The guy we are onboard with isn’t exactly ripping the thing either. Your old dear was in the wrong. We all make mistakes, own it. Also for ex racers you should know that if you’re having mechanicals you raise an arm.

Harriet Drury not on their website it doesn’t. Not being funny but common sense tells you not to do this. But good luck trying to find anyone who thinks your mum was in the right. Only going to make things worse arguing something when the rest of the world largely thinks you’re in the wrong. Not really sure why you’re trying to be Witty when the victim in this situation has a broken pelvis. Grow up
