For me it looked more like the BFG is the weapon and the entire structure of the "canon" is just there to augment it's power to the point it can do that to Mars. (maybe im wrong, i never played the game to know if it says anythign on the weapon description or such)

They probably did it for people who want to skip cutscenes. Otherwise you'd skip a cutscene just to pull the trigger and then you'd have to skip another one. That would be very annoying.

@@singletona082 Of course they do. The Super Shotgun and Doomguy share the same passion : killing demons in gruesome ways. The Super Shotgun does the job just right, but it also wants its wielder to properly express his creativity, which is why it's fine with Doomguy using other weapons to find new, creative ways to smite evil. In return, Doomguy treats the Super Shotgun not only as a mass-demon murdering weapon, but also as a valued friend, which is why he went through the trouble of actually retrieving it instead of simply replacing it. Truly, this is a beautiful and inspiring example of the unconditional love and trust between a man and a gun.

I really like how even though he's now a little more than a mute, demon slaying demigod, more than capable of tearing a human in half without a single ounce of effort,the Slayer never once intentionally hurts them. At best he'll give them a gentle push to get them out of his way, or a withering stare to tell them to back off. Shows how even after all the mental, physical and literal hell he's gone through, he never forgot his desire to protect his fellow man, though he probably is still a little pissed off at them for causing this whole mess to begin with

I love absolutely everything about Mars Core. From the cutscene at the start that show just how menacing and badass you are, to the segment where you’re fighting demons underneath the BFG 10K while BFG 10000 is blasting, and, of course, getting the BFG-9000 and laughing at Samuel for saying we couldn’t just shoot a hole into Mars

@TheSkyWhale The issue is that the doom slayer is confirmed to be the doom marine from the original doom games. However, he was the predecessor of the original Wolfenstein game's BJ, where BJ killed mecha Hitler and won WW2. The doom slayer isnt related to the BJ in the machine games wolfenstein reboot if that makes any sense.

I love all those cutscenes. Everytime he wants to fire a huge weapon it allways gives an error first. In other games you now would have to do like a second mission or some shitty quick time event, but eternal is is allways like : oh wait a sec, unlocked, have Fun, while Slayer furiously mashs the fire button. Kinda refreshing and it gives the cutscenes quite some character imo.
