I think what's funny is that shooting her is just bringing down her defensive shields. In reality, Doom Slayer technically just punched her really hard like 6 times and she went down crashing.
Right lol ? This is like the easiest boss fight in the game, break shields with minigun, chainhook with supershotty and then punch, rinse repeat till dead. Once I realised the boss mechancs I was like no way it's this easy, there has to be a second phase right ? I was wrong of course and it really was that simple, even on nightmare, which is what I played the game through on. Too much dark souls ingrained into me I guess haha.
Wind of change on ps4 doom it was so goddamn hard for me on nightmare, mostly bcuz the arena closed off and she would use the laser so I didn’t know where to go
Not for me. These bosses kicked my ass thoroughly, especially Khan Maykr. I killed the Doom Hunters on the first try, and the Marauder took a few tries. Honestly, my least favorite enemy is undoubtedly the Archvile.
I just wanna say, this whole mission + boss fight had such a beautiful level design and I would’ve never imagined something like it coming after doom 2016. The colors were so vibrant and it had such a unique look to it that it left such a big smile on my face
I must confess, I am not a fan of Eternal, this is actually the first Doom game that I don't like. I have played the original games when they were released (still have the disks somewhere) and I love Doom 2016 to pieces and have 100%-ed it on PC and PS4. But Eternal is just not my cup of tea, I _hate_ those random jumping parts (and thus, a huge part of the level design, if I want to play a platformer, I play a platformer or 'Mirror's Edge') and I am really not a fan of the new combat system. The fights are a lot more stressful than even in Doom 2016 on harder modes, but ironically, for the first time ever I was bored by a Doom game and the fights. The whole thing just feels like a massively prolonged quicktime event for me. But the levels themselfes are, I fully agree, gorgeous and even more so when you have a graphics card that can do raytracing. Especially the latter levels look amazing, beautiful and often quite inspired. I can even overlook that a lot of levels look like something ripped right out of a Halo game or Destiny, because the way those setpieces are used is often quite unique.
@@Furzkampfbomber Eternal's designs are like being in a painting. You are in something and doing something thats bigger then yourself. Like you are visiting places that you are not allowed to visit. Doom 2016 just felt more 'metal' in a way. It feels more real while Eternal is more cartoony. Its just you, your guns and the enemies at the end of those guns. It's a simpeler game but sometimes that's better. I like Doom Eternal more then 2016, but after a hour of playing I'm exausted. You can compare it to a race car, it's the most fun thing ever but after an hour i'm done with it for a while. When I return to 2016 it's more laid back. You dont have to worry about conserving ammo, hitting weak points, moving all the time, etc. Both games are amazing in their own ways.
@@marijnmolenaar2848 Interesting description and explanation, you do have a solid point here. My problem with Eternal is what is called 'the loop'. It's an interesting concept, sure. I also do not like it, because the loop feels so forced. In the beginning, I could not put the finger onto what was nagging me about it, but after a while, it hit me. To me, Eternal actually feels a lot more like a bullet hell shooter than an actual Doom game. People keep explaining to me how much the new tools and 'the loop' would expand the gameplay, but in my opinion, that is simply not true. Quite the opposite, I feel it's extremely limiting. You _have_ to use Flame Belch, you _have_ to use the damn chain saw, you _have_ to use certain, particular weapons on particular enemies. And you do the same thing and use the same abilities over and over and over again, in the perpetually same order. More than once, I failed time and again in an arena, _until_ I had memorized which enemies would appear in which order, so I could _not_ use a particular weapon, since I knew I had to save its ammo for enemy X. By the way, that the game constantly switches to the high tier/limited ammo weapons when you run out of ammo is just... incredibly stupid and annoying. And that they actually artificially ramped up the difficulty with making your normal melee attack completely useless is just a joke. Even more so when on the other hand your 'Blood Punch' all of a sudden kill hordes of enemies far away from you. So punching an enemy into its face just makes is stumble, but waving your hand in front of him kills it. Mkay. The chainsaw - ammo loop is broken, often enough there _was_ no fodder enemy I could kill for ammo. Also, often enough I mistook Prowlers for Imps in all this hectiv mess and thus, got killed, The glory kills, every time you use it a small highlight in Doom 2016 _(and_ they had a purpose, they gave you ammo...), now are just annoying. I did not like how enemies which were always small highlights in the older games, almost like minibosses, now just became cannon fodder. And the one thing I absolutely hate is when they, time and again, cram you into tiny arenas with hordes of huge enemies and barely any space to move. Although my (negative) favourite here are those knights that can only be harmed when they attack and their stupid ghost dogs. Often enough I had one of those spam dog after dog after dog. I mean, I get it. I understand why people like it. But I was expecting an actual Doom game and this, it is not, apart from the setting. And in case you made it this far, thanks for your patience! :)
my mouth was hanging from the beginning of this level to the end.. despite all the crap id has done to mick Gordon, they deserve credit for putting the hard work in themselves, they truly wanted this to be the best game ever!
@@Furzkampfbomber both have good points, for me Doom eternal is good but very hard to master, i feel like if i don't get used to switch weapon, remember to use the fire, grenades, power punch, switch to frozen grenade, meat hooker I'll die soon, then it come the marauder and i don't have shotgun ammo, aah fk it, but if I'm lucid enough and remember all that I'm good, but as dude said it's exhausting, 1 mission per day and I'm done lol
Khan Maykr: For a millennia, we have survived, made others sacrifice in the name of our prosperity - So that they in turn find redemption. Who are you, a human, once a mortal, to defie our traditions? Doom Slayer: do you NOT know who I am?
When the Khan Makyr first discovered the Doom Slayer, she thought he was just a human that refused to accept death from sheer luck and persistence. It came back to bite her in the ass since she thought nothing (let alone the very species she was trying to harvest the souls from) could kill her.
@@SoldierOfFate to be fair, we humans are basically useless. So us killing *BASICALLY **_GOD_* is very unlikely. But she did call him "a human, once a mortal" which means that she is aware of The Doom Slayer's power, it's just she didn't expect him to be so powerful. Not even powerful enough to kill her. And the "mysterious voice" after her death is most likely The Father: The creator of the Maykr race.
Probably because getting glory-killed by the Slayer is an honor/privilege. The Slayer doesn't deem the Khan Makyr to be worthy of one because she doomed god knows how many races just to keep her old ass alive. Imagine him just watching her wither out and die in her last moments, it might as well be a big middle finger to her for thinking she was immortal. The Hell Priests were an exception, since they sold the Night Sentinels and Argent D'Nur out. It was personal on the Slayer's part.
To be perfectly honest, I felt slightly underwhelmed by this boss battle. It was not easy at first but once you get the pattern, it's actually one of the easiest battles. Usually in major battles, thinking back to Doom 2016 onwards, the boss would throw a twist midway through. Either a new attack pattern, even a surprise second life... Or even an identical twin. This one didn't have anything noticeably different.
U need to notice that she isn't excatly "boss fight" material meaning she is not that buffed nor can do enormous amount of damage unlike spider mastermind or cyberdemon she is fighting slayer because of last options kneoing fully she can't scarrch hthae slayer
“How could I have known the parasite would follow? Undoubtedly this is The Seraphim’s doing! A final bitter curse. Clear evidence of treachery long hidden.” - Khan Maykr
If anyone's having trouble with this fight let me just tell you how I beat her pretty easily. Just use the Heavy cannon weapon with the fully upgraded micro missile tree. One full magazine of that will take down her shield, then just use the super shotgun to fly right up to her and punch her. Any time you run out of ammo just kill one of the red angels and you'll have a full mag. You can rinse and repeat until she's dead. If you have any BFG ammo I'd save it for the last couple shield bars as she sets a lot of the arena on fire so it makes it harder to refill your ammo by killing the angels.
''Who are you, a human, once mortal, to defy our traditions?" *''You read the stories, you know who i am! And in all that time, have you ever heard of anything, or anyone who ever stopped me?"*
Loool the funniest was the Priest who created the Doom hunters and ACTUALLY thought they'd kill you. Like man...you know full well who i am and what I've done. You think some hovercraft demon with rockets and a shield will do the trick? Come on man...
@@splinter360 The one thing that got a laugh out of me from that one Priest was the fact he had the Starscream mentality. Extremely overconfident and arrogant in his Doom Hunters (even calling them useless machines when it's apparent the Slayer is kicking their asses) and eventually doesn't put up a fight as he begs for mercy once you actually confront him.
Khan Maykr: "Ho, you're approaching me? Instead of running away, you're coming right to me?" Doom Slayer: "I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer." *This boss fight in a nutshell*
I hate it, turned that shit off the moment I saw the first pop up, that wasn't in 2016 and I don't need it to be spoon fed to me now. The only thing I left on was the side tips, that didn't pause the game or obstruct my view. If I struggled with any enemy type I just checked the codex if I needed too, much less intrusive.
Hey regular mortal beings won't even scratch these angels. Only DOOM GUY can because he's blessed by the Seraphim. The power of angel used to destroy another angel.
"Who are you? A human *once a mortal* to defy our traditions" Well you've answered your question. You're not dealing with any old Space marine (which would have been bad enough). The Slayer is a God.
Who do you think the mysterious voice that said no is? Maybe the father and would the father be Dooms version of God? Which is not to say not abrahamic God but weird alien transdemensional God?
VEGA is the father and Samuel hayden is the seraphim who gave the Doom slayer his powers the voice is Satan angry that his pawn has been defeated hope this helps
She will be in the next game. Remember, if a body is soulless , it can be corrupted by hells energy and become a demon , and now , when the holy seal of urdak is broken , she will definitle return in the next game as the mother demon
Maykr: "Tell me, Mr. Doomguy, if you can. You have destroyed so much. What is it exactly that you have created? Can you even name a one thing?" Doomguy: "..." Maykr: "I thought not."
Khan Maykr: Who are you, a human, to defy our traditions? Doom Slayer: haha minigun goes brrrrrrrr Edit: Woah mama mia, Luigi is drunk again Ty for the likes homies, never got this many in a RU-vid comment. Rip and Tear.
@@giokyo9465 The Father is the creator of the Makyrs. When Doomguy plugs him in, he asks Hayden if he is the father. His voice distorts and sounds corrupted. When you kill Khan Makyr, there is a mysterious voice that says no. Thats the same voice of Vega with distortion
i think the key in this bossfight is to stun her with your weaker weapons first, then use things like the BFG and rocketlauncher to end the fight as fast as you can at the end
Using the rocket launcher's triple missle ability made all the difference. I even upgraded its perks to make it go by faster. Thanks for the inspiration!
Gotta love how the Slayer, a mortal, lands perfect after finishing the final blow. While the Khan Maykr, thought to be some sort of Angelic Being, lands head first.
a little trick for u guys: use the Rifles Scope + the "slow time doen when right clicking in air" rune to headshot the drones, it's much much easier to kill them this way and you get a huge amount of loot
I only play on normal and don’t claim to be an awesome player. This game was fantastic but this fight gave me fits. I played on PS4 and my meathook would not work on her. I’ve read some forums where this happened to other players. Made it much harder because i had to make sure she was vulnerable in a spot i could still jump to her. I had 10 extra lives and used them all up on her. For Icon of Sin I kept going back to Exultia to horde extra lives. Think I used about 10 on him. I honesty don’t know if I could’ve beat the game from the start of the nekravol mission without extra lives. The amount of stuff they throw at the player is crazy on top of the last 2 boss fights.
This fight reminds me of the Heinrich 1 confrontation from RTCW. Borderline divine creature with supernatural powers that is supposedly immortal to all conventional weaponry, but can be destroyed with old fashioned modern ordnance and tons of ultra-violence.
Just dance around her bullshit. Use the homing rockets to destroy shield. Hook then blood punch. Headshot the Maykr Drones to farm more ammo (and health). Repeat.
When she dies you can hear her the technology powering her wings shutting down. This small detail is pretty cool. I'm not too familiar with the lore, but this scene was to me, a reminder that I am not fighting gods or demons, but aliens that are so advanced that even they think they're gods.
@@gregthesplintercell I mean yeah. It's relatively straightforward. They do stop moving quite frequently to try and bombard you. Also I use the rune that slows down time while alt firing in the air. But it might just be skill level. I found this boss super easy. Then again technically I did die once but I had like 5 lives saved up.
Good way for dealing with marauders, get some distance on him, dodge his long attacks and one he's in range and does the eye glow, hit him with the arbalest. Repeat. It stuns him with a solid hit allowing you to get away.
100% agree. The whole time playing eternal i was scared of the final boss because i knew they would pull some shit like that again. What happened to shoot it until it dies?
Samuel: She is invulnerable when she has the orb within her chest! Once removed, her defenses will be down. Khan Maykr: Dies when the orb leaves her body. wtf sammy
For those who have problems beating this boss, I found it easy to defeat her. Here are my tips. 1) Use the lock on rocket launcher mod. Use it twice on her and you’ll get all of her health down fully. 2) If you run out of ammo, and you are out of chainsaw ammo, use the precision scope for the kahn drones and get a headshot, you will get pools of ammo. If the precision shot doesn’t work then use the stick grenade shotgun mod on their heads, it still works the same way. 3) Maykr drones also drop 125 health so if you are on low health then a headshot can get you more health than a glory kill. Hope this helps.
@@williambeck2372 Nah, Lord of Darkness wasn't in Urdak. The Seal for demons entering Urdak was broken when the Icon of Sin awoke free in Urdak. But there is no way the Lord of Darkness would be in "Heaven." Right when the seal broke. That was definitely The Father yelling after the Khan died.
There is a lot to discover in Doom 3 The nameless one Seraphim ( the Mykar that gave the Slayer his powers ) The dark lord The father There are lots of rooms for Doom 3
@EpiDemic117 To be fair, the Maykr are referred to in-game several times as an “angelic” race. Not to mention that with them being white, having giant golden wings, being the children of a godlike being who probably IS God and living in the closest thing the Doom universe has to Heaven, I think it’s quite safe to say that they’re the Doom universe’s equivalent of Angels. And if you’re wondering why they look so monstrous underneath, I believe it may be a reference to the old testament angels. You see, in fiction, angels are often described as looking pretty and beautiful, but it wasn’t always like that. Back in ancient times, angels were described in religion as looking extremely horrifying and inhuman, to a downright lovecraftian degree. Why do you think they always say things like “do not fear” whenever they encounter a human? It’s because they know that to humans, their appearance is mind-shatteringly terrifying.
Corvo Attano No not really. She’s just a Makyr that thinks too highly of herself, and the Makyrs in general are no more divine than my left bumcheek. They just like to _think_ they’re godlike.
My game crashes every single time I beat her, can't get the cinematic to play or even skip it before it crashes, anyone have a solution to this problem? I've turned down all my graphics to lowest possible settings on the one x but still keeps crashing
