I think this is a slippery slope. On one hand, this is not horse armor. There are different color variations, animations, and icons all in one pack, instead of every last piece available for individual sale. On the other hand, this could open the door to exclusive cosmetic packs that require money. Either way, at the end of the day, these are cosmetic only and do not affect the game. Still, this could open the door to microtransactions that affect gameplay of future games. I doubt Hugo would want that to happen, but the publishers tend to have final say.
@@Oronoto I mean for sure they're not at a loss, but ID is a business, their goal is to maximize profits. This is a way to do that which I don't feel negatively impacts me, since these skins are just novelties.
This isn’t a good thing in anyway, they don’t need more revenue from this game, this is just a fuck you to the fans. They promised no microtrandactions and now there are, Id lied to us plain and simple. They’d rather put in microtrandactions then release a game mode they promised on launch.
@@chickensofdeath490 I mean no company that has broken even "needs" more revenue but the greater the profit the more: -Market pressure to create similar products -Internal invest in future products -Creative freedom in the next project These are all things I want. Something I don't want is a rainbow unicorn skin, but other people are willing to give them money for it so it's a win-win in my book. But of course I respect your opinion :)
Anyone got a link to this hell_ coins screenshot, because I have never heard a single thing about that. I know of paid master levels from last year, but this, never heard of it.
I've known about this for almost a year now, the screenshot i found is in the video, but multiple people that have digged up the files have found hell coins, but idk if i can find the names because i honestly dont remember
@@Oronoto doesn't really matter tbh, i just wanted to know if this was real or not. And honestly, i'm not really that bothered about these skins themselfes, i'm more afraid of something much worse like an ingame store or currency. Although going off one example i have of micro-transactions being introduced after launch without any word, Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, i don't think Doom Eternal will get an ingame store because, from my knowledge and point of view: these hell coins are all that remains of a system like that. Meanwhile Crash TRNF already had an ingame skin store and currency, just no way to buy them real money at launch, that came like a month later. So what i'm saying is that these kinds of stores have to be built into the game long before release and from my point of view, Doom E. doesn't have that much if anything of that sort remaining in it's code. That doesn't mean it couldn't happen, but it would probably take some time. I could also be completely wrong with that assumption, i'm just worried for what these skin packs could turn into because, let's be honest, if they just make an event that was free to complete from a year ago purchasable, one after another, every month, i don't really see that big an issue with that, because you had the chance to get it for free and if they do more of these re-run mini events before that, that's even better. Is this the best way to do this, not for us, but for ID, with no more DLC left, probably. And i'd rather have this scenario than the Atomshop or paid Master Levels, 'cause fuck that xd
I don't really have that much of an issue with this. It's not like it is affecting the single player or multiplayer. I think the way that ID is handling the series cosmetics is fair. They gave players who were willing to put in the work the chance to earn those cosmetics for free. For players that didn't want to do all those challenges or didn't have the time to do so, but still wanted them anyway, all they have to do is pay for them at any time they feel like it. People don't mention that it costs money and time for ID to make those cosmetics. Honestly, I'm glad that they made so much costumes for essentially free for a whole year. The game already justified its price point, so there's really no obligation for them to make more free content for it like master levels and game modes (if they're actually coming out). It's easy to forget that ID is a business, not a charity. Just because they made millions of dollars from the base game doesn't mean they can just live on it. They have higher ups at Bethesda, Zenimax, and Microsoft to satisfy. They also have to pay the salaries of dozens of their workers and need funding for their future projects. So, if this will help ID support the game for more time, even by a little, then I'm all for it. The only problem I have with these dlcs is that they don't work properly.
Honestly this isn't microtransactions. For it to be considered a microtransactions it would have to give you a boost or an advantage, like 200 Extra-Lives. That's what microtransactions are. Cosmetics are not microtransactions. Cosmetics are DLC, that's why they're listed as such. And there's no plead or begging for you to notice them, you wouldn't even know they existed unless you scavenged the DLC page of DOOM Eternal. You can't buy them In-Game, they're bought through the online stores, not the game.
Honestly this is not worth defending, think about it, you have a free season that lasts 3 weeks and then goes away and one day you decide to give the first season that was at launch another re-roll and give new players that missed out a week to get the skins. This gets followed up with praise and thank you's and then next morning for some unknown reason(like most things added and removed from this game) they put the Series 1 event on the store for 9 dollars if this isn't a blow to someone's trust then you really need to think about this more. They took sail, they can't stop now and unfortunately this will not change we can only ask for clarification or anything bc this silence after new addition's needs to change
I very much dislike how people are supporting this and saying how id needs the funds to make more content. A sequel for DOOM Eternal is more then likely in very early stages of pre-production from the insane amounts of hinting from Hugo in the recent interviews and its also likely that eternal will be getting support for only a year or two. People shouldnt be supporting this, the first season is literally just reskins and they're charging nearly 10 dollars, its not even good cosmetics.
Pourquoi pas... Mais à 2 ou 3 €. 9 balles pour 1 série ? Si il en font 20, le mec qui achète le jeu dans 6 mois doit payer 180 balles si il veut tous les skins...
This is optional DLC content. Not a microtransaction. There are no "doombucks" and the transaction does not take place in-game. It's simply optional cosmetic content that does not affect the gameplay in any way. Stop making these false comparisons.
it isnt a comparison, its raising concern that these were found in the files. While yes these aren't technically microtransactions, they still serve the same function with or without it being sold in-game and thats why I made this video. If this continues, it could get worse, not doom eternal specifically, but maybe the next entry in the doom franchise.
@@Oronoto that's a pure hyperbole and alarmist. Nobody knows where it could. If it allows id to generate income without sacrificing integrity in the game, why not? If it allows people that missed out on skins to get them, what's the problem? All of this alarmist complaining based purely on hyperbole and rhetoric needs to stop. It's childish and dramatic.
@@rockygeis451 Why would I upload this to start drama? Its me just being concerned as a fan after they broke their promise after hugo said that you'll need to earn these skins and you cant buy them. Granted we don't know if this is ID's decision or higher ups, but that doesnt mean it doesnt deserve criticism. ID already introduced methods of getting these skins for free, even one of the twitch prime skins that you technically had to pay for. I might make a second video on this topic to address my concerns in more detail, not because i want to do it for the views or milk the drama, i genuinely just want ID and others, to hear my concerns and where I THINK this COULD go in the future.
