DOOM'S CANCELED DOOM SLAYER! 

It would've been cool if they included this version of the suit in DE as skin. The lore behind it could be that the ARC were trying to design their own version of the Slayer's Praetor suit.

The Ipad Hayden design is how I imagined VEGA would looked like as a robot before his voice went through puberty in Ancient Gods 1

Before the slayer, we could've gotten a cyborg if i'm not wrong. I think the cyborg part is one thing that would ramp up people comparing the Slayer to Master Chief, though that unused military design doesn't fit into that at least. But yeah, it could've been a different character. at least make that a playable guy in an expansion. One thing is the goofy Hayden, another is the creepy robo skeleton one. The last one makes it seem like it'd be part of a plot where he'd be a demon or something. That Olivia looks like her when she was younger. Maybe she had implants to fix her spine or something.

Honestly it would have been nice to see some of these concept art being used as older versions of the characters. Like hayden being in his most recent body. And they should have stuck with Olivia's conceot design. It looks so much better then the final.

Tan and Purple Hayden was probably scrapped for the Revanent especially Eternal's future skin for the face but you can see the little red core the Revanent usually has on that Hayden model.

The very last one which a lot of folk running away is still in doom 2016. It's a hologram I think and it's the in the later levels either where you get thr bfg or the demonic lab with the mancubas being gutted(my favorit uac leve)

Its so fascinating seeing BTS of developing games and getting to behold what may have been, imagine modders getting these shots and creating the actual prefabs.

Damn the more I hear about 2016's development I still love what we got but it sure seems like it came with a lot of cool ideas that didn't get used. I hope a lot of these awesome designs and ideas get recycled into a new IP as it would suck for them to go to waste.

That version of Hayden with the hologramic screen face looks like if Apple made a robot. Smooth surfaces, gentle curves, barely any sharp angles. Imagine if we saw this version holding the Crucible.

The animation we see at the end is used in the room right after you get the BFG There would be more characters indeed, but too little info about them, as most of that was seen on the quakecon 2014 event Olivia pierce was really downgraded, that cape and dress was amazing That black helmet marine in the beginning, the helmet itself was never rendered as far as we know, but the suit was used in Doom 4 and had an different helmet much closer to the final version attached to it, so the look of the protagonist was basically that suit with the regular helmet we know now As far as 2015 the praetor suit would have the same colors as that early suit, it wasn't black but dark blue with yellow highlights We have the render of it an the recreation of the full suit

Ipad Hayden would have been great for some absolute hilarious scenes, as the super friendly exterior design clashes hard with his stoic cynical personality. As for an in-universe explanation for him being in an Ipad bot: His original robot body might have been damaged and he transfered his conciousness to the closest robot, which happened to be a PR Ipad bot.

The old suit could easily be a lingering concept from the scrapped 2007 Doom 4 build which was often referred to as Call of Doom for its military aesthetic.

How about this. In a different AU, where Doom Slayer fought the dark lord in their final battle. Instead of winning, Doom Slayer lost, but not without weakening the Dark Lord. So, humanity, in their desperate state, created an armour that uses Argent energy to power it so it could potentially fight off the lesser and mid tier demons, but not higher demons such as a Baron of Hell. A man who was fit for the job, wore the suit, fight demon, find artifacts to upgrade the suit, but eventually, a Demon of Hell found him and damaged the suit, leading into a run and gun gameplay that ends in the Marine to find a garden in some part of the realm. There, he finds the Slayer, his sword embedded in his armour chest, clearly beaten and dead as he was surrounded by rabbits and bunnies, but all are ghost. When you, the marine, announce that the Slayer is truly dead, where everyone believe he did not, he was task to take his sword, and maybe use it to fight the demons. But, when your character held onto the handle, the Slayer Grabs you, and in a panic, try to move away but it's like moving a mountain as the player's vision turns red as you and the Slayer look at each other. And everything went black. After a few seconds later, the Doom Slayer monologue, telling you that, despite him wounding the Dark Lord, he could not defeat him, for he is his creator or some shit. So, after waiting for 10 years for a worthy Slayer to replace him, he have finally given it to the marine as the marine slowly dawns the Slayer's armour, and before he put on the helmet, he buried the late Slayer next to ghost bunnies and rabbit, telling him that he can finally rest after years of fighting. So the player look at the slayer's helmet and put it on, becoming the New Doom Slayer. And also start playing Doom slayer's mix as he held his double barrel shotgun. That's when the demons appeared, ready to rip and tear the marine. But, what they found was like a ghost from the past, and as your character put two shells into the gun, the demons screams and the beat drops as your character slam the shotgun close. The Only Thing They Fear Is You starts playing. And carnage ensues.

In the early development of DOOM 2016, ID was influenced by more modern shooters of the time, leading to devs who were displeased with the change and called it Call of DOOM-ty. Lol

It's a pity that cyborg marines can only be seen in multiplayer and in holographic "flashbacks". I mean, those guys invaded Hell, sieged the most guarded part of it, kicked down the doors and then stolen the Slayer sarcophagus. Moreover every single one of them you find dead is surrounded by piles of demon corpses. If not for the killswitch those "petty mortals" probably would have stalled the demonic invasion on their own. And then Eternal completely removes them, making UAC guards cowards:(

I’m really glad there weren’t any human NPCs in 2016. It made the game feel much more like the original Doom where everyone is dead and it’s just you killing demons.

It definitely would've added stakes to the game if there actively were people being attacked in the foreground. By the time we do our thing, everyone is already dead.
