Levi Cowan creates videos and blogs pertaining to tropical cyclones, primarily hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. Posts occasionally concern other, non-tropical weather events around the world. Levi is currently a Ph.D. candidate in tropical meteorology at Florida State University, and completed his bachelors degree in applied physics with a concentration in atmospheric physics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Thank you, hunkering down here near GA/SC border. Winds have not been bad, seen worse during regular storms and only 1/4 of rain so far. About 18 miles inland and higher elevation. Out of flood zone and tidal water. So far, so good. We ARE prepared...food, generator, chainsaws etc... see ya on the flip side!

8:40 am Thursday 9/5/19 ~ We were very lucky. The outer bands fizzled out as it came over land at the GA/SC state line. Just 1 inch of rain and slight wind gusts but no trees or branches down. Power never went out. We are almost out of the woods.

@@MollyMcBooter I have family up in Newport. I also work for a builder and we just completed our last hurricane damaged home on Friday. Pay attention to this Molly. Water is going to be an issue. Not sure how far you are from the river but stay safe as well. I can't believe it's back to a Cat 3. Lord have mercy!

Just evacuated up in NC myself. Though a lot of people are not leaving even with the mandatory evac order so hopefully this storm stays a cat 2 or less.

The opposite side that is in the ocean is the whipping side. That is how I experienced the hurricanes in south Florida. That side ripped all the electricity out in Florida with Wilma. Both sides are something else. Now we have warm balmy winds. Severe heat gone.

I have never seen a hurricane retain such strength for days, hug the coast for so many miles, or weaken and strengthen over water. Thank you for such a great video. My number one meterologist channel. Origin of the name Dorian, is from the Greek "Dorios", meaning 'child of the sea' . Small tidbit😂🤣

You *have* to see Dane Wigington, only 1 minute 51 seconds about Dorian being manufactured. Holy cow, this is the perfection we were all afraid of. A day late for the foreknowledge absolutely present. Remember, Jamie Mitchell has been murdered this week when having received the final installations for the documentary he was finishing editing, that of Wigington's, those having disappeared also. Is Columbo in the house? Please care about the victims. You have to be aware of the perspective from MrCati even though it is a bit involved over time. Incredibly consistent, and a lot of discovery along the way, but this is the wide angle, one of em.

My birthday is September 4th, and I live on an island in North Carolina. I got a damn hurricane for my birthday. My mom said we didn’t have to evacuate and now it’s too late to evacuate and we had no idea it would be this bad. Please, pray for me and everyone else affected, I’m very scared. This is my first hurricane. This morning I woke up to tornado warnings sirens all over the island. An eerie sound. At 5 AM. Just a day after my birthday. Happy birthday to me I guess?
