For the artist formerly known as Duke the Drifter - an itinerant, out-of-work carpenter - a chance encounter on the streets of Austin, Texas changed his life forever in 2013. A documentary film crew from Sweden heard him singing on the street and were so captivated that they captured a performance of his song 'Down to the River'. On the strength of the reaction to that song, Seegers was invited to Sweden and TV appearances, a succession of hit albums and sold-out tours ensued.
The latest chapter in his story sees the release of his first major album release in the UK (via BMG) of 'A Story I Got To Tell’, featuring eleven new tracks and produced by Grammy-winning producer Joe Henry (Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell, Bonnie Raitt, Billy Bragg).
Mixing the care-worn country style of Hank Williams with the uplifting soul of Van Morrison, the album's songs mix tales of lost love, despair and hard-living, such as 'Six feet under', 'Out in the street' and 'Poor side of town' with those of redemption and hope, such a 'Angel from a broken home' and 'Life is a mystery'. There's even the light and breezy 'Rockabilly bug', which is sure to become a stage favourite, as soon as the album is released on the 31st May 2019.
