My daughter started kindergarten today 🥺 she has to take a snack every day too. She picked cherry tomatoes & a cheese stick today. Why can’t lush send something simple like that? Kids don’t need a ton of junk, especially at school!

Kindergarten was the only time I or my kid have ever needed snacks. Beyond that, lunch is plenty. It’s 7 hours. What tf am I missing?!?! I work 16 hours and don’t eat…I understand it’s kids, but there is NO REASON to have extra snacks. Lush just needs a reason to buy more bullshit

@@traciprovins3221 I remember having snack time in class up until middle school age. Which is grade 5/6. (I graduated in 2012) so it’s really not that uncommon. I’m not sure about the teenagers though, still having snack time. But maybe they’d grab it between classes if they needed something to eat really quick.

As an elementary teacher, I'm pretty darn sure my school isn't the only one that requests only healthy snacks so we're not pumping kids full of sugar at 10:00 in the morning. Also, food being stored in lockers is a huge no! It's like asking for bugs and rodents to invade your school.

As a retired teacher if a child forgot snack i woyld have them eat something from their lunch. When these kids cant fit these ridiculous boxes in their lockers, its gonna fall on their teachers to be responsible for them. @coran88
@coran88 10 месяцев назад
As a teacher- I keep extra snacks for the days kids forget one. Parents donate to the basket throughout the year and we make it work. And more importantly our district has an approved snack list and students may only bring those certain items. There are four choices (brand specific) or you can send in any fresh fruit or veggies. There’s no way Harlee is allowed to eat that crap in the classroom.

They do that in the US too! My daughter’s daycare was very astringent regarding lunches and snacks. No candy, no sugary snacks, no soda, no juice aside from OJ for morning snack or a real 100% apple juice for afternoon snack. They’d write home a daily report on how much of their food they ate and if anything you sent with your child was a “banned” food/beverage item. If it didn’t meet their standards of age-appropriate nutrition they would take the item out of the child’s lunch bag and hold it until the end of the day and hand the “contraband” to the parent at pick-up at the end of the day with a note stating why it wasn’t appropriate for a kid to have.

Public schools in America already have to contend with a lot of issues, from an overpopulation of students, many of them living in poverty and dealing with homelessness, students that don't speak English, budget cuts, staff shortages, decaying buildings, school shootings, physical fights, kids doing drugs in bathrooms, kids dropping out of school or barely attending classes, kids that have no food at home (they eat only what they get for free in school). Not to mention students with deep emotional and behavioral issues and teachers who have to deal with them, sometimes having to physically restrain them (my friend is a school counselor and broke 3 ribs trying to restrain a student in middle school from attacking another student), plus administrators not helping teachers discipline their students. Pretty sure that healthy snacks is at the very bottom of a school's list of priorities.

This is a GREAT idea!... For a kid going off to college, or for someone going on a road trip, or someone who's spending a lot of time at the hospital with a loved one. NOT for a school kid who has to try to fit this into an already cramped locker, and who'll have other kids asking for stuff all the time. Here's a better idea-- if forgetting snacks is such a frequent occurrence, help your kids create "Ready For School" checklists-- wash face, brush teeth, get dressed, pack a snack, get lunchbox, etc. Help them build responsible habits, and if one day they don't have a snack, well then they don't have a snack that day. Not a single one of those kids is gonna starve because they miss ONE snack. They eat breakfast, lunch, school snack, after school snack, dinner, dessert-- and she's mentioned bedtime snacks more than once. I can't imagine how they have time for anything else if it's literally ALWAYS time to eat.

If I sent half of that stuff in with my kid for snack I would get a note home reminding me of the snack policy requesting healthy food. Also, you don't get a call home if your kid forgets their snack. They either have extra snacks or they just tell your kid to go play and eat at lunchtime.

I started having a locker in 2nd grade however food & drinks were never allowed to be kept in your locker... In high school you weren't supposed to have food or drinks but they were a little more lenient about it. A granola bar, a banana or apple, some fruit snacks etc. but an entire bin of junk? Absolutely not.

Hey Josh! I'm an Early Childhood Teacher here in Australia and I can absolutely confirm that myself and my co-workers get so highly frustrated when parents pack junk in their child's lunchbox, and even packing the same unhealthy lunch! (makes me think of Dougherty packing her son a tuna sandwich everyday). We actually have a policy where parents can't pack unhealthy food (like Ireland's policy) and it is mind blowing to witness parents disrespect that, especially if it occurs on a daily basis. It actually affects us teachers emotionally because we see the children lack in being supported to have a strong and healthy wellbeing for their development. Children that have the same unhealthy lunch everyday often don't eat it and try to snatch other food from their peers' lunchboxes, or have the habit of playing with their food rather than eating it. We always hope to see change for their future. Thanks for putting this out there and validating the importance for children to be eating healthy! Dougherty seriously needs a wake up call. Keep up it Josh, we love your videos😊

you're totally right, no way in hell are those fitting into anyone's locker. i never had a locker they'd fit into and neither did any of my 3 sons or my grandson. as for the kindergarten to 3rd grade kids, i wouldn't have been allowed to bring see-through tubs of snacks for any of my sons' "cubbies." that's what we called the place where we hung their jackets and backpacks plus the little cube for their extra shoes or supplies. those ridiculous boxes never left that house. oh and, when my boys got to middle and high school, they'd have died before they toted in a box full of food as if they were afraid they might get stranded on an island between classes and need supplies.

When my kids were younger there were a few children in their classes who never had lunch and would ask others to share a snack. The school did not allow sharing due to allergies. Myself and 2 other parents would take turns of giving the teacher a loaf of bread and spreads plus a bag of apples, oranges and bananas a week so any children who didn’t have lunch could ask the teacher for a sandwich and some fruit. This helped the class as a whole as all the kids had full tummies and could learn better.

Dear DAD, I hope you read this comment. I was watching Alisha grocery haul posted today. I found it very interesting as she was putting away the food that goes in that one garage fridge with the lock things and she stated that when her 6 yo was younger he'd crawl into that fridge so they'd have to keep it locked. Funny is that several months ago she stated that fridge came with the house and those locks were on it from the previous owners, that they never used those locks. I guess she can't keep up with her untruths. Also I've noticed that she'll not show the insides of those garage fridges from time to time when most the time she does. Wonder what she doesn't want us to see? A bunch of rotten food? I also wonder what's inside tge rest of the garage. They don't park their cars in the garage. Why don't she get more shelves for food so she can store more? What if there's another "can't go anywhere" order? Are children sleeping in the garage? I've been wondering that for some time now. Have a blessed day. That's for making me a informed viewer. P.S. Why is she fully stating what her vehicle lately? Anyone can see its a big van.

Here in my county we are NOT allowed to send/ bring snacks for kids to school unless it is on the approved list. The approved list is VERY precise to make sure every child is safe from allergens. There is absolutely no way the schools would call her if her kids forgot a snack 😂. That being said IF it was her week to provide snacks for the entire class then yeah she would get a call.
