My daughter asked me for some lip balm, a new teddy and a fluffy notebook with pens for her birthday! She was turning 7! And the look of happiness when she opened those simple gifts made me happy.

This is insane!!! My daughter’s birthday is this Sunday. She turns 9! Her request: she wants to go out to eat for breakfast. She wants me to bake her bday cake. She wants to go get ice cream and wanted a new Lego set & possibly visit the LIBRARY (she said if we have time haha)! I bet Lush doesn’t even ask the kids what is it that they want to do on their special day. If she really asked and actually listened I’m sure she wouldn’t be spending 5K but then again she teaches her kids that nothing is worth being appreciative for. Not even a single Thank You! Woah!

It’s so sad that after the kids found out that EVERYONE was going they kept saying that “so it’s not a present.” Because it isn’t just for them. It’s for everyone. I honestly understand where the kids were coming from with that. My favourite part of my birthday was doing things with just my parents. Each of us kids had our own special day. And I’m so sad that these kids don’t have that experience in life.

And I remember for my 14th bday I woke up for school and my mom said she forgot my gift at her job but had my card. Inside my card was 2 tickets to amd Avril Lavigne concert it was the best damn thing album. I was so excited I started crying and just couldn't believe it. To this day that was probably the best gift I've gotten in my 29 years..except for my daughter of course!!

Every present my son opened, was like the best thing he’d ever received. He’d even open a chocolate selection box with such joy and then jump up and thank us. He’s 32 now and I can still picture him doing it. A day making these two feel special, on their own, would blow all those presents out of the water.

The one thing those kids don't have that they seem to crave is some individuality. Especially being twins, they want to be seen as individuals and have something special, but everything is the same, they get the same gifts, they have to dress alike, and they do everything together. I grew up as one of 8 kids, but we were allowed our own interests, our own activities, and the ability to choose our own clothing. I can't imagine having no identity at all aside from being a 'Dougherty.' So sad for them.

One year when I was a child my mum got me a hair brush for my main birthday present because they had no money and were struggling to pay the bills. I still had a great birthday. It’s not about the expensive gifts 😢

One of the reasons why one of the twins was disappointment that the whole family was going End it stems from his adoption. He wants quality time with one of his parents, and this was a chance for him to get it, but she did not see that. What she sees is the whole family has to be there for videos. In his mind not only the need to spend quality time with his parents. He knows that it is taken away when the whole family comes together he is lost, and when I called is called family confusion. He no longer is number one when it came to this family, but number six and above and they are going to cater the younger kids first, and then they will cater to the older ones so they could keep an eye on the smaller kids, therefore, he is lost in the confusion. The only time he will be recognized is when mommy starts asking him questions such as are you excited to be here, are you excited to want to see your favorite wrestler, etc. When she is done with that part of questioning, she’s already taped everything and he is no longer recognized by mommy because she is done with him. This it’s going to be remembered not in a positive perception, but a negative perception, creating resentment to the parents on his part. That’s what happened with the daughter that left her house.
