Just got the VSC 500 the other day. I have it setup for RGBS, but can't figure out where to hook the sync to as on the back I have H/V and composite video.
Pretty niche topic, but I'm actually exploring this area right now looking at getting 240p out of Dreamcast and OG Xbox. I'm really curious to hear what you suggest is the better method. From what I can see today, VSC can be had for about $40-60 today, so I'm certainly considering going into it
I'd love to recommend the Super Emotia, but it seems to be very hard to get. If you're very interested in obtaining an alternate option to downscale, I'd recommend the DVDO iScan HD+.
y tho In this video I believe I used a csync SCART cable. I think you mean resistors, not capacitors. I would say whatever resistors are found on the PS2 SCART cable, if any, are preset on the cable.
All my retro consoles run through component cables. Wii, Gamecube, N64 thru Koryuu, and SNES all run through component. I am wondering if the Extron VSC700 can take a component 480i signal and output it via S-video to go into a consumer-grade TV that only takes composite and S-video.
Can this device do RGB to NTSC? Like if I connect the RGB source from Snes console, will it output the correct composite at 240p or 480i? I have a consumer tv with composite only and would like to do a setup of ossc/capture card while playing on the CRT tv. Thanks
Hmm that's a good question. I know that Composite video follows signal standards such at NTSC, PAL and SECAM. Unfortunately, I can't say for sure. I think the user manual might have the correct answer for you.
Hey I'm looking for a solution to connect my computer to my 100Hz PAL TV. It's got RGB inputs and I was thinking of using the extron you showed in the video but I still need a solution to put like HDMI through to it.
Can't the ps3 output 480i anyways? Also in the video when you talk about stretching the image, did you mean you weren't able to stretch the picture wide enough?
I believe it's because the anti flicker controls on the VSC700 make for a better picture for when you then use the RGB 203's DDSP mode to get 240p. So you could skip the VSC700 but it's nicer with its flicker controls
The RGB 203 doesn't require a clean sync, if I recall. Don't know too much about VGA and sync stripper. I believe that's more of a SCART thing. Again, not entirely sure.
I wish I could've shown it myself, but the stand and the monitor are heavy and I don't want to risk anything falling. I can describe it to you if it helps. The PS3 is outputting 480p via SCART. The SCART cable runs into the gscartsw, which is outputting via the VGA style output into the Extron 203 Rxi, then outputting from the Rxi via BNC cables into the VSC. The VSC will output via BNC to my monitor's RGBS slot.
That's a good question. I'm not aware that this device will output at 1080p, but I do know it will upscale somehow. I didn't look into this because I'm personally not interested in upscaling.
