making this video actually made me like doyle more than i already did, there were just funny and good moments that i didn't notice through those first 9 episodes of angel. RIP to Glenn Quinn
How is it that he was only in 9 episodes and still managed to be so endearing? I honestly missed him for the rest of the series. Idk what it was, but he brought a lightness that was so noticeably missing after he left. RIP to Doyle, and Glenn Quinn.
For real. Him being there brought a sense of hope, for whatever reason. Like, everything was gonna be okay. When he died, it was right up there with the deaths of Joyce, Spike, Buffy (the second time lol), and Tara (I haven't finished Season 5 of Angel and someone told me that Cordelia, Wesley and Fred all die, that's gonna be fucking sad)
I was so annoyed when Doyle left. He was the endearing underworld connection, a staple character of the old detective series. Swapping Doyle for Wesley was not an even trade.
@@christinejanis6552 because Wes came in with an arc that needed to develop over time whiles Doyle’s didn’t need that long so they could develop his character throughout the show
Do not get me wrong i loved wesley and gunn , but glen quinn as doyle was the best great ,actor talent beautiful irish soul whose demons got the better of him , he was taken from us but we shall never forget the liked of him ,and daivd lost his close friend who he still misses to this day RIP Glenn gorg quinn
I don't know how Spike would have reacted to him or if they would have gotten along, but I would have loved to have seen a scene or two of them interacting.
@@RetroGirl1967 Well they did briefly interact in "In the Dark" season1 ep 3 of Angel. I actually think that Doyel would absolutely hate Spike they are a little to similar in certain areas , so they would end up grinding each other's gears.
I love Doyle so freaking much! No one could replace him😥 Also, he and Angel got really close in such short amount of in a way that Angel never had with anyone before, or after Doyle 😥😭😭😭
Doyle gave him a purpose, one beyond his mission. Made Angel understand that he needs the human connection, he was the one he actually connected with. Neither of them was 100% HUMAN, so Doyle was definitely Unforgettable. Cordelia helped in the mix, but Angel was able to relate to Doyle, he found a FRIEND IN HIM. That's why when he died, Angel suffered so much and his wound could never be closed. When Skip gives Cordelia the other side of her story, in Birthday, they mention Angel retrieved in to himself after loosing his ONLY FRIEND. First soldier down, his sacrifice wasn't only to save the mission, it was meant to save Angel, it was a testament to their bond, Doyle understands Angel's struggle, his angst, the permanent fight with his interself, like no one else from the crew does. Also, he sees Angel's soul, and that is the first thing that needs Salvation. 💔
They really only got into his heritage like 2 episodes prior. So I assume if they didn't have to write Glenn out, they would have started playing up the connections more.
"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain". Wesley had 5 seasons and werent even close to Doyle. Maybe if Doyle didnt die, he wouldnt be much missed as he is till today.
Doyle was a simple man. A half demon and half human. He wanted to help for mankind for the power of good. He also fall in love with Cordelia. Even tho he notice that she is pig at times. He still love her. Him and her made season 1 very interesting to watch. Sadly he was in first 9 episodes and then they killed him off. It sucks too. Doyle one the few of Angel ally that need more time in the show. All took one episode to liked him. All 9 episode to love his character.
How I think Doyle would’ve gotten along with the rest of the cast. Wesley - They would have an Irish/English rivalry banter going on. Especially early Wesley, but they would throw down for each other in a heartbeat. Gunn - They would be best friends and I can’t be convinced we weren’t robbed of a bromance there. Fred - He would’ve ADORED Fred. Probably a big brother/little sister type of relationship. Lorne - They would be friends but not sure how close. Doyle would at least be amused by Lorne. Connor - Would hate him for the Cordelia situation. Spike - Would be weary of him since he interacted with Soulless Spike. They would definitely be witty with each other. Harmony - Would be annoyed with her like the others. Treat her like an afterthought. Illyria - Would mourn the loss of Fred but would come around/accept her.
It's like you're describing two different shows completely. Doyle around with Fred and Connor just doesn't mesh for some reason. Mostly because it implies Doyle has little to no impact on the plot moving forward if he stayed around for those events to happen the same way.
I think it is sadly ironic that the very premise of the show is that its about a man named Angel who sets up shop to fight demons, but David Boreanaz was powerless against the demons that eventually brought down his close friend Glenn Quinn. Actually I think putting it this way makes it look like David wasn't all the friend he could be. I have zero idea on whether that's true or not, but one thing I'm certain of is that if a friend of yours is determined to drive off a real or metaphorical cliff, it is their life to drive and you can't take the wheel for them. I think it would be impossible not to feel some level of guilt in David's place, but I've almost lost friends who seemed determined on letting their demons drive their life, and even though you may be tempted to try and grab their wheel when you see them going in the wrong direction, ultimately they are responsible for living their life the way they choose. I hope David Boreanaz found peace. RIP Glenn Quinn.
Hopefully he doesn't blame himself. Glenn's death was ruled an accidental overdose and David isn't responsible for that. But of course I understand that at the time you'd ask yourself if you could've done more.
Once upon a time, there was a vampire. And he was the meanest vampire in all the land. I mean, other vampires were afraid of him he was such a bastard.
