I lost my little brother to suicide. It was thee single event that broke me into a million pieces. My mom was first in 2015, my dad in 2018, and my 43yo little brother in 2019. I was already cracked in half and he finished the job. His death was completely avoidable but my parents didn’t bust their ass helping him get better when we were kids. It was insane to me, even as a kid. He had severe OCD. He literally tripped and fell thru life. Miserable. I now have a beautiful 21yo son that suffers with sever anxiety that leads to depression and suicidal thoughts. I have busted my tail providing him with the tools he needs to be well. Just happy is all I ask. Brain mapping has had miraculous effects in only 1 month. Pray for my boy.

@@19sonam5I have depresión, anxiety, CPTSD… all the things and seriously, magnesium and vitamin d really really help. Especially through the winter months. Great advice. Also one walk in the sun, 10 minutes even works miracles. 15 min meditation a day, even if guided from RU-vid.. breathing techniques etc.

I loved this podcast this young man is a treasure ...I lost my only son in 2019 it seems like yesterday...he was handsome, health oriented , a force to be reckoned with .and would win in whatever he focused on his inability to let go and forgive really took him out at the highest point of his life. His death has spiraled his father into a depression that has affected our 54 year marriage. I have been caring this burden I tried seeking a few male friends of his to see if they could help him ...this podcast has helped me with an answer that I asked GOD to reveal to me...I woke up with your podcast half over ....I posted on the last half...I am now looking at the first half....I will report how this podcast has helped me.

What a guy. Alex is amazing. Hearing him talk about his friend Freya was hard. I lost my Dad 5 months ago to Acute Myeloid leukemia. Absolutely bloody awful disease. He too achieved incredible things and told me to grab opportunities. I hope I can keep my promise to him like Alex did to Freya.

This guy is so admirable. He speaks a lot of sense and he is right, they should teach it in schools. Feel so sad for him and his family that his brother didn’t realise his full potential in time. This guy is a proper human

My beautiful brother took his own life 30yrs ago now. It was the darkest day. I thought that I was going to die myself, because I didn’t think that anyone could possibly survive pain like that. My mum was terminally ill at the time, and somehow found the superhuman strength to continue her fight..

I can relate to Alex's confidence so much, there's being confident to do something in the sense of knowing you can do it. Then there's the need to do something that gives you the confidence to do it, you do believe you can do it but you know you have to! Being uncomfortable is so hard but I once heard that every great opportunity is hidden behind a uncomfortable situation, your comfort zone is based on the things you do. I already respected you both before this but after hearing more about Alex's background and things we don't hear him talk about I respect him even more! I was so excited when I saw you were interviewing him on instagram! :)

Fantastic podcast, really interesting throughout, Alex seems like a really genuine intelligent person. Couple of takeaways for me 1) Take small steps out of your comfort zone, those small steps add up and over time will lead you to accomplish things you didn't think possible. 2) The importance of surrounding yourself with amazing people and trusting them. Thanks for another awesome podcast.

Dr Alex got us through lockdown along with The Dunwells daily live. Dr Alex describing what the process was if you were hospitalised made us not afraid if we had to go hospital. The Dunwells gave us something to look forward to each day and kept us connected to 'live' music. How Dr Alex got through what happened to his brother and being alone during lockdown shows what a strong and lovely human being he is. Having empathy and sensitivity is a HUGE gift.. Some people are quick to judge persona of reality star, ridicule and troll them in a cruel way for appearing on shows like love Island, but this a inspiring example of how the persona of celebrity and being a raw real human being collides to progress to something far more meaningful, dr alex could easily just slip in the background and continue his life privately and be a doctor, but the fact is that's he's using his platform to truly make a difference to people's lives speaks volumes and is a testament to his endearing personality, I've always admired people who have this ressilance, I think its lovely how he's using his education/life experiences to educated and benefit of others, what a lovely guy,and thank you Steve for organising this amazing podcast x 🙂🙂

I have big respect for Alex getting into Med school coming from a mediocre average state school..that really is some achievement indeed and hearing about how he managed to overcome the sense of failure to make up for his exam results was really crucial learning for me...it seems so sad though that the very lesson he learned about "failing"and overcoming to go onto to be a doctor did not translate to his brothers life....I suppose we never really know all the things which contribute to that instance but I really can't help but feel we must get better at spotting signs and allowing people the time and space to speak.

Moreover, all the things he said were quite logical and applicable. We have fears and only action can overcome it - everyone's journey has upheavals, yet it's worth it! 💪🏽 Thanks loads for finding gems and introducing them to us. I remember when I use to busk on the streets, play guitar and sing, and people would come up to me and ask ' How can you do this with all these strangers staring at you and judging you?'. My reply was always the same ' You get use to it. You can get use to anything! Just keep putting yourself in the uncomfortable situation, until it becomes comfortable'. I would sometimes get verbally abused, but I know those people were just jealous and insecure. Never took it personally. It wasn't MY problem, it was theirs.

Great podcast, however in the discussion your having around 30mins in I do question a few things, are you ever going to be truly happy if you always think you can get something better and always push yourself to feel ‘uncomfortable’? Your life can pass you by and not allow yourself to appreciate the situation your in and it’s gone before you realise it. I think a lot can be said for being comfortable in a job or relationship and feeling content rather than always trying to chase the next big thing. Also think it’s important to say some people can take a leap of faith in something and it be the worst thing they’ve ever done and live with a lot of regrets, pushing yourself doesn’t always lead to success, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side but where you water it 🍀 Edit: but then again I’m not a millionaire 😂 just happy with my simple little life ☺️
