Steven, I've been watching all of your health focused videos / podcasts over and over again. It's hard to soak everything up all at one. At the beginning of this year I was 400lbs. I've lost 60lbs in the last 6 months. More importantly, I've lost 30lbs in the last 6 weeks. Offering all of this applicable knowledge has helped save my life. I'm 34 and have a three year old daughter and six year old son and I KNOW having access to this knowledge and education has assisted me to make incredible changes in my life. Thank you for all that you and your guests do. Sincerely, Matt.

"if that chemical lasts longer on a shelf, it lasts longer in you" excellent analogy ❤
@LetoDK
@LetoDK 7 дней назад
It sounds good/fine, but it (obviously) doesn't carry much helpful truth it itself. Salt and honey can last on a shelf till the end of time, but they are metabolized in the body in less than an hour. So, one of the next questions that arises is: so what if it lasts a long time inside the body? So what? Is it "long time in body (probably) = bad"? There's probably an explanation somewhere, and I'm not necessarily sceptical, but it really highlights the reasons I don't like such slogans.
@smilergal89
@smilergal89 6 дней назад
Love this dialogue. Phrases sound good and they instinctively feel right but it is worth pausing and considering the truths and contextual value
@Casperr123
@Casperr123 5 дней назад
Well the quote she said was about substances that you can't recognize when you read the label. Honey and salt we all know what is, but you buy bread and its supposed to have only 3x ingredients ( flour, water and salt, yeast starter in sourdough is also pure flour and water, nothing else) and yet the one in the shop has 20+ ingredients out of which 15 we don't have a clue. That's the point she was making and the quote summarised it perfectly.

My husband had difficulties with fasting long hours and wasn’t losing weight. Ozempic helped him “kick start” the weight loss and became accustomed to not eating which led to longer fasting windows and portion control. He lost cravings for sweets during this process. In 3 months he lost 12-15 lb. All these things would have happened without Ozempic, however, it made it easier for his brain to adjust. After 3 months he quit Ozempic because his body allowed him to fast without the irritability and cravings (not to mention cost). 9 months later, he does OMAD 4-5 days a week and the other days he has a 6-7 hour eating window. Best of all he gained control. 9 months later ( without Ozempic), he lost about 25-30 lb and gained muscle. He went from waist size 38” to 34”. Bottom line,,, each person has strengths and weaknesses, do what works to get you to where you need to be. ❤❤❤

i think that is a good use of Ozempic. short term until the person adjusts to that feeling of not having food in the stomach all the time.

I’m not even sure if fasting works for me or not. But I can say that I am one of the people who lost weight eating 6 small meals a day. I guess different things work for different people.
@DW-vd9mp
@DW-vd9mp 5 дней назад
While yes different methods may work, I can say with confidence as a 54 yo woman with type 2 diabetes for 44 years (since age 10)...6 small meals worked when I was young for a time but 20 years ago that no longer applied. Over time eating any carbohydrate and yes that includes fruit, eating every few hours will cause insulin resistance. Your body now is producing too much insulin all day long. Eating a carb requires insulin and then your sugar drops necessitating the need to eat once again. Once that cycle is broken by a low carb diet and fasting you are no longer hungry every few hours. It saved my life and got me off all diabetic meds and insulin. No more high cholesterol or high blood pressure. I never count a calorie and I eat until satiated. 4 years of this lifestyle and going strong 😊 115@Blessed1985

Same in Canada, it's so normal and expected to eat unhealthy and drink alcohol & pop that I feel the pressure to justify myself when I do something different. It's annoying how people are like "what's wrong how come you're not drinking, have some pizza" etc., and I notice people who justify it with cultural/religious reasons get a lot mote respect and no further pressure, meanwhile if you just say "I don't eat/drink this" people will try to convince you like you're a loser for refusing.

I live in Europe, i come from eastern Europe. I remember when the pre-packaged hamburger rolls arrived to us when I was a kid, my mum would warn me they could be causing cancer. They tasted weird, like plastic and sugar, so it made sense to me. Sometimes my teenage friends would buy them for a fancy evening dinner. I didn't understand what they are for in US, I couldn't imagine people would actually eat them on a daily basis. They were tasty but clearly didn't taste like actual food, I was worried they would get stuck in my gut, like some foreign object. When I was 25 I went to Canada for a student exchange and was shocked at how shitty the food was, both in supermarkets and take away. And how hard was it to find fresh food, I felt almost like some weirdo. People were shocked I was looking for a student apartment with a kitchen. For me it was the only way to actually survive. I've been reading food labels since they started appearing in my country, and I already knew that all the colorful American prepackaged food is full of junk. I never even look at those shelves in our supermarkets. Not that our packaged food is great, but I still believe there's a tendency. It's so unfair to people who grew up in that reality of processed only food, I think when you grow up like this, you don't realize all this, as it is all you know. I feel so lucky to consider a cucumber picked up from a field a regular thing rather than some "fancy" organic expensive food. It seems there's some stigmatization or aura of magic/specialness assigned to a desire to eat healthy organic food in US? I think maybe it's nothing special, it's the other way round - it's just that your regular food is junk 🙈 I don't understand how that's even legal tbh. And very sorry for all the people who are tricked into fighting with their weight because of it. I know many people in Europe don't think about this topic as much as me. Many also buy the American packaged food. I think the more east the more aware people are however. And of course we also have obese people. But I can't imagine not becoming fat if I had to live in Canada longer. I put on 5kg in 3 months while I was there, and lost it as soon as I came back, with no effort. I however developed digestive issues afterwards hmm.. I felt miserable health wise in Canada, and I know it was the food.

I didn't even recognize her the first time I saw her - I recognized her boyfriend though, and I thought he was cheating on her. And she lost everything she gained there within the next few months, doing nothing special, she just got back to "normal" food.

My mom was the best and taught me how to eat properly. She cooked from scratch! If we were hungry before dinner , too bad, she gave us a carrot then told us to wait and play outside, period. We then played outside more. After dinner we had one snack like fruit, nuts or buttered bread. Cookies or cake was for birthdays or holidays only. Soda as well, they were treats. All I see now in the aisles are processed crap. My husband and I eat lean meats, veggies, fruits, nuts, eggs, some dairy, some carbs but good ones like brown rice , oatmeal. Of course some condiments in moderation. Full fat dressing. Our cholesterol is in normal range and our glucose levels. Weekends we go out once for whatever we want. That’s it. We are within our bmi, we work out. Dumbbell work outs, walk our dog. We’re in our late 50’s. And drink water throughout the day. We keep it simple.

Now, I'm not hungry all day and it also saves a lot of money on food. Fasting is FREE! You don't have to attend meetings or buy certain food. I just love it. My main goal is to maintain a healthy weight & to live a long healthy life.

I feel amazing and I am halfway to my goal of 30lbs. Something I havent been able to achieve in over 10 years of yo-yo dieting. Thank you, Dr. Pelz for sharing this information with the world and Diary of a Ceo as I have been consuming all the health experts information on your show and have changed the way I look at food and my health. French use apple cider vinegar to prepare natural sauce for salad: - half tablespoon of mustard - 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoon of oil (olive, sunflower, nut, whatever you like, I used to mix two different oils) - salt and pepper (moderately) If the taste of the vinegar is too harsh (I don't know the percentage in different countries), add a little bit of water (1 tablespoon). This is excellent for any salad.

Keto has amazing results short term BUT long term it has negetive effects. The best long term diet by far is a whole plant SOS free diet, with an 8 to 10 hour eating window every day. That's a tough call so I always fall off the wagon on a faily regular basis. But with a water only fast a couple of times a year, it manages to keep me lean where it matters - visceral fat. Fasting is an effective way to keep fit, if combined with consistent exercise

For anyone who hasn't started fasting and is thinking "but I'll feel starving all day", just try this. Protein shake or any very very low carb breakfast with at least 30g of protein. Eating it first in the day will help keep you feeling full for longer. See how many hours you go before feeling hungry. When you are hungry eat loads more protein. Try and go an hour extra each day before eating another meal (only if you don't feel hungry). It might take a while but your body adjusts (better than drastic changes that you are less likely to stick with). In less than a week I got to 17 hours no food without even thinking about it. Good luck.

Most people don't realize how obsessed with & addicted to eating and food they are. I'm considered thin &/ fit but feel terrible when I eat too much, eat grain, dairy & sugar and have spent my entire life dealing with chronic health issues. Weight is only part of the story and humans need to stop assuming that thin people are healthy. The worst things adults ever said to me as a skinny kid were things like "you can ear whatever you want". NOBODY should ever eat whatever they want. It's such a toxic message. Then I reframed it. I am blessed that I have so many tools in my box but I can pick and choose each day. I love that Dr Mindy reminded us of this at the end. Who has time for a run and Yoga and journalling and an ice bath and meditation etc etc every day and still go to work, run a home, raise a family?! We have to dip in and out to get what we need. Maybe the focus is mental health today, gentle exercise tomorrow, connection the next day. It's great to get a bit of all things each day but over the course of a week or a month that's good enough.

Really great interview! I love her support for the “regular woman”. The diagnostic methods of looking at the whole body - feet, eyes, nails, hair, skin, menstrual blood flow, tongue coating ect is all based on Classical Chinese medicine diagnostic techniques. All classically trained Chinese medicine practitioners do this in their practice all day. We combine those objective findings with the patients subjective experience and treat people, not symptoms. I would love to see you interview any leader in the field of Chinese medicine - for example, Heiner Fruehauf or Jeffrey Yuen, would be an amazing addition to to your show as opposed to primarily interviewing internet celebrities who have a lot of airtime already. Chinese medicine is a thousands year old comprehensive evidence based medical system, I would love for it to have more airtime.

I started fasting more than a year ago and dropped 11 kilos and my perioral dermatitisis gone, I also eat wholefoods which allow me to fast better. Then hubby jumped onboard, he was sceptical at first but he now loves it and lost 20 kilos. Some friends also tried after us and they all lost their tummy fat and find it incredibly sustainable. Thank you Mindy for the great teachings 😊

Kudos to your lady about getting her cycle back. My bestie, Kidada was really underweight and battling bulimia when she lost her cycle. I didn’t even know you could get it back! 😮 brilliant is correct!

Your first episode with Mindy Pelz last year was my first entry into DOAC. I have been hooked ever since. This second episode with Mindy is great too. Mindy and Dr. Jason Fung inspired me to change my food and practice IF. I lost 55 pounds and improved my thyroid health. For me it is a habit for life. The fact that a local cardiologist (Montreal, QC, Canada) include IF into his protocol for his patients is an added motivation. This is not just a fad. This is a real way of improving my health.

I started IF after following Dr Mindy. I am only a few weeks in. Lost 8.5lbs and still learning. Menstrual cycle healthier than ever. Thank you Dr Mindy for teaching us so much. Your book is packed with information that I keep referring back to and it’s a great guide.

I love having Dr Mindy and Stephen together for a whole 2hrs, I've been fasting since I watched Dr Mindy on your podcast last time in fact I went and bought the book before I watched the episode. Although I have a long way to go, the difference it has made in my life so far is formidable. Thank you, Stephen and Dr Mindy

Loved this conversation and interview! I have been intermittent fasting for 2 years after being diagnosed with high blood pressure and being overweight and it has changed my life! After about a year I dove deeply in the foods that I was eating and switched to more Whole Foods and organic. Recently I have learned more about fermented foods and how to build up the good bacteria in my gut microbes. My blood pressure regulated itself and at my last checkup my Dr said everything looked perfect in my labs and bloodwork. Thank you to every single Dr, researcher, and podcaster that is fighting for people against the food and drug administration and for getting information out to the people. I agree we have to change the food industry and how it is regulated.

So sadly, I don't think that will happen. Us getting addicted or poisoned by bad food and eating badly, then getting sicker and sicker are two huge money spinners. :(

16/8 fasting since Jan. Went from 17.1st to 14.8 (32 lbs). Don’t do it every night as I work in sales and often take clients for dinners. Still drink alcohol although I have massively cut down on the day to day casually drinks here and there. Exercise on average 3 times a week (gym or biking). Cut down processed foods (still eat some but not frequently l) Still have a takeaway or a drinking session with mates on occasion so I never feel like I’m missing out. Feel great and it’s sustainable. Most importantly the area where I’ve lost the most fat is stomach. It’s now almost flat. I’m 41 with a young family and work away a lot. I can’t recommend fasting enough. Good health to all

I pre-ordered Dr Mindy's new cookbook Eat Like A Girl. I loved reading her two books Fast Like A Girl and The Menopause Reset books. Now using her FLAG Journal which helps me understand what I am doing internally.

Dr. Mindy was the first person who made the idea of fasting exciting for me. It took me a while to really get into it, but I do fast for almost a year now (18:6 most of the time, every day), mainly on carnivore diet (not strict by any means), and I feel the healthiest, happiest I've ever been. What a great podcast for anyone who wants to improve their lives. Loved it!

Dr Mindy, you are a Goddess of the highest order! Thank you for sharing your wisdom, experience, research, compassion, and genuine commitment to help the human race! 🙏🏽 DOAC, thank you for having Dr Mindy as a guest ... Again! I practice alternate day fasting. I fast on T and Th and once on the weekend, most, not all weekends. On fasting days I get more done and feel amazing. Not obsessing about food leaves space and energy for other things, for life! 🙏🏽❤️

WOW 😊 Never been a fan of Dr. Mindy - her positive reinforcement and enthusiasm, at times, got too overwhelming. But this podcast and the subtle discussion, I'm a believer and a fan 🙏🏻 My journey started on 16 December 2021. Starting at 101 KGS, had wanted to get better as I had been obese all my life. 6mobths later, a shadow of my former self, waist down from 40 inches to 34 inches and weighing 68-70 KGS 😁 A combination of OMAD and PALEO worked for me. Added in half a dozen 36 hour and 48 hour fasts. And one 72 hour water fast that turned out to be 100 hours - because of ONE BULLETPROOF COFFEE 😂 My observation - besides the fat loss, White spots on nails disappeared. My scalp recovered and dandruff was a thing of the past. My hair have been naturally oily and shiny, not greasy. Coming back to Dr. Mindy, thank you. I am now an official member of the Mindy Project Fan Club 😊 Thank you Doc 🙏🏻
