A single idea can be a parasite to the mind. It can enter our thoughts without us even knowing, bury itself deep within our psyche, and transform our entire reality and outlook on the world. Do you have the mental strength, prowess, and awareness needed to identify when this may be happening? On this episode of Conversations with Tom, professor and author of ‘The Parasitic Mind,’ Dr. Gad Saad, joins Tom Bilyeu to discuss such important matters and more as they explore how ideas can act as parasites to the mind and what you should be mindful of in this age of identity politics. They discuss the dangers of post-modernism, the changing culture in the western world, the void of common sense, nature versus nurture, why people latch onto ideas that separate them from true reality, how America is closer to a civil war than one might think, and how identity politics is a slippery slope that leads to dangerous consequences.

Women have so much power to change the world for better. It's as simple as rewarding The Men who hold up values such as freedom and Truth no matter the cost in the highest esteem. This is something our elders of the past knew very well. Which is why women's conduct and character was so tightly regulated. The men that women choose in their most fertile years ultimately determines the direction of society for better or worse

Great video! It's so important to guard your mind against these kinds of negative influences. The media you watch, the people you hand out with, and everything you consume in general is going to have a huge effect. Even the type of music you listen to is basically hypnotizing you into a certain world view. Be proactive and surround yourself with people who inspire you, music that elevates your mood, and media that is informative but not fear-mongering.

@livestrong1976
@livestrong1976 3 года назад
I love listening to ideas also, what the scary thing is, is that you think that you REALLY get some of these things as if they are all true, but then a year or so later they completely change their mind about the topics and your kinda like WTF. Remember we were taught in school that Pluto was a planet and we were so SMART because we knew all of the planets especially the smallest and furthest away. Then years and years later, someone decided that, hey that Pluto thing that you thought was a planet, oh it's not. I know that may not be a great reply, I just find the older I get and start questioning things and what the truth is and what it isn't, I'm really not for sure what is real, it's as if, if you can explain something really well and believe in what you are saying people will often follow. It's amusing and scary all wrapped up together. I wasn't bashing your thoughts or anything, just curious if you found the same things true on what you ponder about, what's real and whats not. Things can change so fast, it's all in a single thought..
@TheZGALa
@TheZGALa 3 года назад
@@livestrong1976 Yes...I wrote and self-published a playful autobiographical/philosophy book (47 Truths--it is on Amazon) which is kinda terrible in many ways, by my own "book standards" but in which I tried to explore a similar conclusion, which is that the truth is all made up, is a fluid evolutionary process, and just like butterflies, can be beautiful, depending on your perspective, yet dead and soon dusty as soon as you try to 'pin it down' on a piece of cardboard. To me truth is a human construct, which requires our participation in it to maintain its tenuous existence. I suppose through the lens of the above conversation, that probably makes me something of a post modernist. Things are what they are, and also, our perceptions and explanations of them are highly dependant on lenses, conditioning, perceptions, and other 'equipment'. Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I appreciate you!

I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. I'm Lebanese - Canadian, raised Catholic. Spent many summers in Lebanon where I witnessed first hand what I initially thought was a delusion amongst the ppl. Children are told that mommy and daddy are in pain because of the Jewish, or the Muslim, or whichever one of the other 18 religions that exists in the country, that the ppl can blame their misery on. Compassion is not (yet) part of the culture. When young kids are fed these ideas and beliefs (whether true or not) at an age when their brains are still very plastic, the result is the havoc that exists amongst the adult population.

One of my favorite quests Tom has ever had on the show. It was such an engaging talk. I am grateful that Gad has written the book that I lack the full knowledge and intellect to write myself Thank you so much

Listening to the first 2:14 of this clip, regarding Nature "VS" Nurture and he could have dropped the mic and walked out the room... On some "My work is done here" tip... EPIC and profound statement! Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Wow! I believe that its both nature and nurture. I feel like I want to go meditate and see myself and others objectively and be as close to reality as possible.I have started appreciating people who constantly challenge me taking me out of my bubble and make me think. I want to get the outcome I wish and dream about, while contributing something to the world. The video ran 2 hrs, thats longer than many, and it was so interesting, didn't get up from the sofa. Thanks Tom and Saad!

Brilliant discussion! I'm reading "It Can't Happen Here" by Sinclair Lewis...written in 1935 ..we've been to the brink before. As you said , evolution teaches us about incremental change, adapting to subtle or extreme environmental change, nuance, ....we can learn and adapt, if we dont get in our own way. I agree Tom, respect gravity, objective reality is good grounding.
