It's true Mr Tharur that India instead of being soft on Russia's invasion of Ukraine, should have talked to Russia to deescalate, but can we afford to ignore that Ukraine has never stood by us on international forums, instead they have voted against us on Kashmir in the Un, while Ruasia has been a tested ally in very critical times?
Very true the opening part about Dr Tharoor regarding his humour in most of his answers. Dr Tharoor is the most remarkable and undoubtedly incomparable in the field of entertainment whatever the interview /programme topic may be. Even if the session is on a serious subject and his answer is also serious but his delivery is so humorous and specially his signature smile turns the whole programme into worthwhile time spent. ❤️😇

Giving impressive talks, writing best selling books, showing well refined public behaviour and many other "good guy" traits are good but leading a political party, and hypothetically, leading a country such as India, the most complex and diversified in terms of politics, religion, ideology, needs and desires is completely a different cup of tea.

I am not Indian, but I like to listen to Dr. Shashi Tharoor on many subjects, including diplomacy, history, and international affairs. I listened with great interest to and appreciated his speech at the Oxford Student Union on the reparations that Britain owe to India. I think that Dr. Tharoor’s argument that all countries must support and respect the sovereignty of all countries makes sense. However, for someone who has worked at the UN, it seems that Dr. Tharoor contradicts himself when he does not mention that whenever, the United States and NATO countries want to carry out invasions and not honor the sovereignty of other countries they do so as they have done in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somali, etc. Then, the United States and its so-called allies don’t rush to the UN and call for a meeting of countries at the UN to vote against its invasion of other countries for narrow selfish interest to acquire and control the resources of other countries such as the oil in Iraq and Libya. What does sovereignty mean to Dr. Tharoor? Why can’t India or any country as a sovereign nation choose to abstain at a UN meeting? Why should the United States and other countries who support it always have to question other countries when they abstain to vote at the UN? Where are the UN meetings whenever the United States goes around the world to invade other countries and violate the so-called principle of respect for the sovereignty of other countries?

Wow finally am seeing a BJP supporter who is not a fundamentalist. Otherwise all the BJP supporters that I have come across are simply a blind follower who act like taliban in shoving their ideas on others, not listening to others' point of view. @@alendersng1466 Those are a bunch of Talibanised Hindus, who have zero understanding of politics , but I guess every ideology has some of those fringe elements, and the issue is, these fringe elements are the most vocal , hence the perception of BJP supporters being fundamentalist.
INC may be to the left of BJP on religious pluralism or secularism. But, may I remind you that INC also have a long history of taking communal aspects in decision making that has had far reaching consequences (…Indira’s political alignments with Muslim League, Rajiv’s decisions on Shah Bano Begum case and Ram Mandir…). So, I am not sure if INC necessarily share your vision ( Mr. Tharoor)! Most certainly they don’t have a pristine record of upholding the principles you just described in this discussion.

Why are you not actively criticizing western occupations of other sovereign nations (Korea, Vietnam, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen….)? How come all of the UN rules apply selectively to certain aggressive countries and not others? Criticize all bad actors when they do wrong and not only when Russia or China does something wrong.

Dr. Shashi Tharoor man with Gift of Gab. It always pleasant for ears to hear his voice. On the contrary, in my view Anuradha didn’t prepare well for this book interview. I was keen to know more highlights from book. Questions were not well prepared till I watched (23:16). Those are mostly focusing on current affairs. Setup is very gloomy , as a viewer this failed to hold my attention for long and I get bored.
What is the position of Mr. Tharur on the possibility of Kerala and West Bengal becoming Muslim majority states? What is the position of Mr. Tharur on conversion of Hindus to Muslim Religion and Christian Religion? Will he live in a Muslim majority India? Will he become a Muslim when Hindus become a minority in India? A question I always wanted to ask Mr.Tharur was why Mr.P.V.N. Rao was so shabbily treated by the Gandhi family after his death?

Why Shashi Tharoor never talks about bigotry of the Muslims and openly challenging the beliefs and principles of other religions and even led to the partition of the country. Though they chose to remain in India still continue to denigrate other religions in their prayers and books. How the Hindus can indefinitely take their offensive lying down and not assert their right to their culture and religion. If Shashi Tharoor resides in a Muslim majority area even in India he Wii’s come to know what is their problem. And a highly educated crook is even more dangerous as he can dupe you in even more innovative ways. Everyone from Islamic invaders to Britishers were supported by highly educated and intelligent Indians. Yes, you need them to lord over the country? So the rulers of India cultivated a group of crooks who were well read to rule over us and keep us poor. And Chachaji and his family also continued this trend and cultivated a group of highly educated crooks to rule India. Today we call this group as Lootyens as they stay in an area called Lutyens in Delhi and loot us. What is the change that BJP and Modi brought into politics? It made jokers like me realise that IVY LEAGUE DEGREES doesn’t make you a patriot, inculcate honesty or bring goodness. But people who cultivate character, personality on the basis of ethos of Culture and civilisation of India have patriotism and goodness in them. Do this experiment if you don’t believe me: You go into any random RSS Shaka in any part of the country and any time in the year. And see what they teach those students - Patriotism, Service, Goodness, Honesty and Simplicity. It is done every day and all throughout the year. Tell me which Ivy League Univ, IIT, IIM, St Stephens, Doon school or any school where you pay lakhs of rupees as fees teach it? I have been to world’s top Universities, have 6 degrees but no where my education taught me patriotism or goodness. It is my dad who taught me and the books I read written by Swami Vivekananda or the man I idolise Shaheed Bhagat Singh who did this. RSS shakhas do it for all the Sangh goers everyday. Hence people like Modi are so patriotic and honest. I don’t care if he went to school or he has MA or not. A person who reads Swami Vivekanand or goes to a RSS Shaka is any day better than a crook with IIT or Harvard degree. Yes that is what we need to realise.
