EA’s marketing department is a problem. They just copied the art style from other games that were successful without considering how relevant it was to the people they were actually trying to market to. If the game isn’t actually Dragon Age: Overwatch, I feel bad for the devs that had their work presented like it was. I feel extremely confident that the lore was well preserved in this game (Thanks Kala Elizabeth!). I feel pretty good knowing that the team intended to give us deeper stories for our companions. I hope the combat is smarter than Inquisition. I’ll be honest, though - My view of the art style is having quite a hard time recovering from that trailer. In the afterglow of the trailer, Minrathis looked less dark and more Disney. I really like the Tarot card things. They should have used that to guide the marketing. It’s cool and unique rather than a copy paste of stuff from a multiplayer battle royale type game.

One thing I really hope for that's a shot in the dark is I hope we get a character creator Demo, like what Dragons Dogma did

I’m lowkey devastated that we seem to have lost the few cast that had made it across the games in some way since the beginning: morrigan (+ old god son), flemeth, leliana, cullen etc. inquisition for me was the peak of memorable party casting

I remember with Origins, we had the "This is the new Shit" trailer. DA has always had awful trailers. The games have been much better.

This news (first seen from your Twitter) literally motivated me to dig up Inquisition, trigger the boss fight against Corypheus, and start getting closure on my Inquisitor's story! So, thank you!! I'll be doing Trespasser later this week too! I only wish the Grey Warden would come back too, they left a bigger impression on me than the Inquisition. Maybe not just because I played Origins first, but also because Skyhold and all the characters made the Inquisitor's interaction feel like business? The Warden's camp and Hawke visiting everyone at their place felt much more intimate and meaningful.

I'm really hoping the trailer tomorrow will change my mind because that reveal trailer only lowered my already very low (because of all the craziness surrounding its development) expectations for the game. Please be good, please be good🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Will dragon age keep still be used? I have seen anything about it. Also I’m still a little sad about having 2 companions instead of 3, but I can get use to it.

I feel like the uproar just proves that they still have a huge fanbase that want this game to be good, some of them just don’t know how to manage their expectations and feelings.. they’re gonna be tuned in either way- if anything it’ll make more people want to see how it plays out. It sounds awesome to me. Honestly I think people hinge their views on games too much on cinematic trailers. I personally don't find the art style that bad yes it's a bit cartoony but that doesn't mean the game itself is going to be portrayed like a cartoon. The gameplay footage will be the true test. I just really wanna play a good guy tevinter 😢 let me work with Neve!!

I am totally romancing Lucanis he looks so dreamy. As for all the other companions they look amazing and we get an adorable gryphon too! Now to decide which faction I want my Rook to hail from. Hmm maybe an Antivan Crow.

Scout Harding as a (romancable) companion is so dope. Definitely a standout side character in Inquisition.

I kinda loved that in DAI the companions had their own armor sets (even if they were 2 or 3) I hope they still have this in DAV, with even more designs. And bring back the recoloring of the armor/outfits . I don't know what to do in this game....I was a tank in DAO, a dual wielding rogue in DA2 and a Sorceress in DAI.....

Dragon age The Veilguard is gonna be sick

It's cool and all, but when Dragon Age morphed from GoT-esque dark fantasy to a neonpunk? I get that even DA2 was cartoonish and far less serious looking and DA3 was a generic high fantasy. As I can see, change of tone was one of factors that led this franchise to a downfall. We well see soon in a gameplay trailer but I am sure that it is - afterall - a clown fiesta and not Dragon Age.

Why does Bellara look Asian though? There is no Asia alternative in Thedas as its based of Dark Ages Western and Central Europe, is she an elf from across the seas? Also getting Peebee and Sera vibes from her, neither of which is a compliment.

I love that they added origins back, but I am a bit concerned with the origins belonging to the same factions as the companions, and their feats or quests being overshadowed by Rook and vice versa. If my Rook starts as a crow (bird puns unintentional), he will be fully overshadowed by Lucanis with how esteemed he is in the faction. Not saying it's impossible to do/can't be done well, if anything pulling off these dual origins and making the player and companion feel significant to that faction would be an incredible selling point for the game. I would just be concerned if I missed out on one of the companion's most significant and heroic moments because of my character. I suppose it adds to replayability, but even with BG3 I'm not as attached to universally loved companions like Astarion and Karlach because I didn't use them in my first play through and didn't bond with them as well (I played a rogue and campbound Astarion/never found Karlach).

calling the online reaction to the companion trailer "mixed" is.. generous. part of that ofc is just the trend of the vocal crowd dunking and dogpiling on anything that doesnt look great, but the basic point remains. the tone and the art direction will be a major point of contention for many. definitely looks like this isnt for me. which is fine, not everything has to be for me. ive probably got hundreds more hours of BG3 to play before getting into rogue trager anyway. its nice to hear them say there will be no microtransactions. and if its up to the devs im sure there wont be any microtransactions. high chances that it will not be up to the devs, tho.

The demons are cut that's a big problem..the characters design and really all around design of the game is strange and stupid ..and I already want to kill everyone of the team members I know I won't like any of them that's another big problem... this game will be a bioware and a Mass effect killer.

I sincerely hope the history and in game lore aspect is still there. I enjoy games with depth and lore/historical learning and finding.

I had two concerns about the game coming in this week. 1- Will I like it? and 2- Will it put BioWare back on track. After seeing the 20-seconds reveal and watching your video, I'm happy to say that the question #1 is leaning towards yes. There's always the chance that I won't like tomorrow's reveal, but as of now, things are pointing upwards. That being said, I'm a BioWare fan so that was always more likely than not. The question #2 is the most problematic, and the character trailer hurt more than it helped. Having to endure the doomsayers a little longer is exhausting, and the proportion among them who seem eager to dance on BioWare's grave is concerning. Yesterday, when I answered your post expressing my disappointment about the trailer, I got a reply of someone laughing at people who might lose their job. If BioWare want people to give them a chance, they will have to do better marketing.

Looks a little different than the previous ones hopefully it does look closer to inquisition than as cartoony.

Curious how they’ll adapt past player choices in the games this time. The biggest question being answered to some extent would be what happens with the inquisition companions/the future of the inquisition. The inquisition and companions will fight despite the order’s eventual disbanding. I’m excited as to how they’ll tell show the consequences of our players choices

I left it in several comments on several videos, but I talked about how, having read Tevinter Nights, the comics, and side stories all leading up to the trailer, I was way less worried about the game than a lot of the knee-jerk reactions. Even though I do still believe the trailer was a tonal disaster LOL. I audibly gasped seeing Lucanis. Im stuffing that man in my pocket. Destroying myself over choosing between him and Harding. I just pray I don't fall in live with the rest along the way and get hopelessly distracted haha. You can bet your ass I'm picking the Crows. I have no clue if we'd see Zevran, I doubt it immensely lol. Would love too. But regardless of him YES I'm gonna go Crow. I'm going insane over the Inky customization. YES!!! (Also sad about no sneak peek on the creator tomorrow 😭 hopefully soon) I'm so impatient-excited for this game my god. I dont know if I'll be patient enough to play several playthroughs myself before watching everyone else's 😂 ABSOLUTELY TORN between going with my first playthrough canon, or with my Inky who romanced Solas. Ugh thank you for this! I was SO sad when I saw the comp trailer, because it hit SO sour. Hard to tell for sure without seeing the characters faces, but that cut scene looks SO much better than the WOW/Fortnite/Overwatch-esque trailer we got yesterday! I'm still worried about Emmrick though. He's just so... 80's Disney villain. Big improvement with today's video. No microtransactions another big+. Romance options? None pass the eye test. Morrigan from Origins would be the one, sexy and sassy. Not the flat chested butch Morrigan from Inquisition. Isobella another good one. But since they aren't options, who knows? I want this game to be good. Yesterday's trailer was awful.

Oh I do have one question and maybe not, but I just thought I'd ask. Do we know if Lindsay Stirling doing the violin score again? That would be awesome if she is, but I understand. She's pretty big now so she might be cost a lot of money, but I was just curious cuz I loved her violin work and Inquisition

Having such a hard time deciding what faction to choose and which romance to choose I think Bellara, Harding, or Davrin would be the most interesting (even if Harding seems a bit.. boring right now, I think by the end of the game she's going to become a whole lot more interesting.) As far as the factions go, Antivan Crows are cool and all but I think The Wardens, Veil Jumpers, or Shadow Dragons will be more interesting/play a bigger role in the story

I still think it looks to much like a Disney movie. Varric has been blond from his first appearance in DA its called character continuity. Dwarfs are supposed to be long lived as a group at 52 hes not old. Now he llooks like hes from Lord of the rings with black, greasy, hair. Cartoonish character appearance instead of realish within a cartoon game. At least on the trailer Hardings facial reaction to looking at Rook wasn't an Andromeda type reaction all googly eyed. If it stays like that you might get past the Disneyland style and have a relationship with a character, along with adult interactions that feel like adult reactions. Andromeda always felt like it was high school kids who found themselves in a new galaxy with the emotional maturity of someone barely out of puberty. Im looking for an M rated game with adult acting characters with adult emotional responses and developed characters, not a childs game.

Speaking of rook. I wish they would add a real Chess minigame.

I am still waiting for the gameplay reveal to be 100% certain.. but i think the companion trailer was a very wrong choice. I am still shocked it was not deliberate. I was lucky enough to know your content and your deep appreciation for cyberpunk. So when you came out trying to appease spirits (and honoring you NDA atm ) , i thought ok... she knows. BUT MAN THAT WAS A STUPID CHOICE FOR A TRAILER! Maybe the bettter word is naive... I wish everything evolves organically from now on, to have a proper DA-V enjoy it, don't wait for another 10 years, get the mass effect and be happy , more mature and more trust of each other. PS I really would liek to know what was going on in Bioware seeing the trailer backfiring that much!

So I suppose I won't be able to live out my old dream of being a cartoonishly evil Tevinter magister. Sad, but okay. Might actually get back into DA because of DAV. I even almost hope that Shadow of the Erdtree will let me go by the time DAV releases lol. I think that the three other factions for Rook may be Nevarra's Mourn Watch, Veil Jumpers and Lords of Fortune. The logic behind this is the companions. They listed three factions already, and all three have a companion that hails from them: Lucanis for Antivan Crows, Neve for Shadow Dragons and Davrin for Grey Wardens. Emmrich is a member of the Mourn Watch, Bellara is a Veil Jumper and Taash is allied with Lords of Fortune. So, if three companions are members of the factions from which Rook may hail, it makes sense that it could also be the case for other three. Harding would represent Inquisition, which you won't be able to choose as background for Rook because, well, you'll be working for it anyway during the game.

I’ve never played Dragon Age but this game does look cool.

The characters still look cartoony. I don't understand why developers are going this route with games lately. Maybe I'm a dying breed, but I LOVE when developers push realism in games. Look at these characters verse Andromeda. Yeah Andromeda isn't an amazing game, but in regards to realism, these characters look like a Pixar movie.

If we're able to play like Mass Effect (action wheel/ 3 companions) it should be easier to play Knight Enchanter or Arcane Warrior. I just feel sorry that as a mage, our spells will be more and more restricted since Origins. This is something I find troubling and sad. In mass effect it works perfectly for the biotics as biotic actions are limited, extremely powerful but limited. But Dragon Age...have you seen how many schools of magic and spells we have? Dozens! And in the lore probably hundreds! This is just sad.

It will take a lot to convince me the tone of the game won't be a disaster. Even the art style is difficult to swallow for me. I don't know why they made these decisions. Baffling. I seriously hope tomorrow has a 180 from the shitshow that was that companion trailer. But I don't have any idea how there'd be a tonal difference between the trailer and the true thing that vast. My expectations are ROCK BOTTOM. I'm devastated.

I honestly loved the companions trailer. I’m drawn to Lucanis just because of his design and the Mage Killer epithet since I always play a mage and it’s drama, but let’s be honest here… I will romance the most sarcastic mf in the room. That will never change.

I wouldn't get so excited about customizing your Inquisitor. After all, look what happened when it came to Hawke in Inquisition. You barely had any choices on how to customize them and it was worthless anyways because you're pretty much forced to leave them to their death. I fear our Inqusitor will share a similar fate after all our warden from orgins was reduced to a codex in Dragon Age 2. Not hating when I'm just stating the facts.

this is the first video on DA that has made me feel hopeful and excited since that very bizarre trailer came out

I have only seen the companion reveal video, but I will say this. As a straight woman I don't see anyone who I'd care to romance in this game. All the male companions look unattractive and/or old to me. My Rook will probably end up friend zoning all of them. That said, I'm still waiting for the gameplay footage to cast final judgement.

In your "DA Expanded Media Reading /Watch Guide" in the legend there is "other games", but I cannot see any other game. Am I missing something? Also where did you get the DA2 Prequel short stories games?
