I have been experimenting with LW-PLA as well as the curved shapes features of FreeCAD. Time to put them to work in a second version of my Dragonfly RC model. In the video I go over a few highlights of the design and build process. I am rather chuffed to have found a way to print in vase mode with a closed top! And to find that shear webs make for a rather stiff wing with only a CF spar and no ribs.
It is a windy day and it takes a bit to tune in the COG as well as get a feel for the model under such conditions. I include bits of a half dozen flights.
The hold-down bands at the trailing edge are an issue with LW-PLA when they slip off the PLA protector - so there are improvements to be made.
