It is 4AM and I'm watching a career drill sergeant review the tape of his BT completion ceremony from 2005. Shoutout to all the other internet-goers that routinely end up doing things they could never have predicted they'd do that day, and always at obscenely-late hours.

I had the unfortunate task of driving my commander to a memorial service and one of the soldiers was in my basic training platoon. It wasn't 6 months after graduation and he was killed by an ied. I understand you drill Sgt. Happened in 06

One of the weirdest things about bootcamp is how much you loathe your Drill Instuctors/ Sergeants in the beginning, to how much you admire and want to be like them at the end.

The quality is so much better than what I got from the Marines in 2012 hahaha

Watching your face light up with uncontrolled happiness is contagious. That 40 lady makes me feel good, I just turned 32, currently waiting for MEPS, enlisting into the marine corps. My age is the only thing that concerns me, 32 years of being a lazy piece of shit… but she is living proof, I have no excuses, it can be done. Luckily my old man taught me early, failure is not an option.

I graduated Basic and AIR in Ft Benning GA 1989. And to this day I still remember DS Baldwin and DS Tabb. And I remember DS Baldwin once had us in a circle in the barracks and saying, "I'm not your father, but for some of you I'm the closest you may have" that stuck with me my whole life and as I had my own joes, I saw what he meant. So Many of us veterans have those leaders who changed us. I wish I could openly thank them all. Thank you for sharing your reaction to your BTA graduation. 16:32 Is a amazing piece of this video. If I am correct I think its a missed cut from editing and your clicking to your next page of "script" or talk points and info. I just absolutely love how perfect the camera goes out of focus, you fix the hat, hit next page and get right back into it. I love to see snipits of life like this as I find it always reassuring I'm not the only one who does it and also I think it gives a good look behind how much goes into this. Seeing you trying to hold back the tears of pride and accomplishment is actually making me kinda tear up myself! The pride one must take in graduation of military basic training must be unbelievable! I have never been in the military due to some very bad choices when I was 19 but I have always wanted to. The honor, bravery, self control, ect. The military is the most honorable profession that anyone can have. Just wished they got paid more and treated better! Love ya drill!

This video almost got me choked up a bit and left me a little melancholy. See my (currently active duty US Army) son's graduation wasn't open to the public as per Covid-19 safety procedures. He watched as his oldest brother graduated from USMCRD Parris Island (just like myself, but I play no favorites) and his mother is US Army vet. So maybe we'll have to take a vacation through the southern Atlantic states and visit P.I. and Ft. Jackson, maybe DC too. Thanks Angry Cop.

We went to Basic together. I was 1st Platoon, D. Co, 2/39th. I 100% have the video of us going through Basic Training. I can send it to you if you’d like. Quick update: I sent him the DVD in December, but it was returned undelivered. I attempted to contact him again, but never heard back. I have uploaded the video to my channel.

Most of the time AC gets angry there's obviously at least some performance in it, but when he talks about Afghanistan there's no acting in that rage, you can see the real pain there (as there should be)

My son was in the reserve, then regular army MPs. Presently he's CID in Kentucky. He loves it. He was in Germany, which wasn't enjoyable. Before that he served in South Korea, which he enjoyed. I'm very proud of him.

While I was in Basic in 06, my dad was CA in Ramadi with the Marines. My Drills knew that I may not ever see my dad again. So 2 times a week they allowed me to come into their office to Email my dad, some that was the only other way I was able to communicate with home at that time. I'm grateful that they did that for me.

Hey drill sergeant one of the Marines that died in Afghanistan was from my ship I respect and adore everything you do thank you for your service I am Navy I serve as well and I appreciate everything you do God bless you

I never served, but that ending, when you spoke about how many might have died, all I could think of was, "They are God's soldiers now." I bet you've heard it plenty but I can't be more sincere about it, Thank you for your service Hy.

I graduated in 2010 from Fort Jackson. I knew immediately when I saw the trees. I must admit I never felt homesick till I got on the bus to go home. Felt so proud I nearly got emotional.
