When you QUIT Basic Training, you automatically make a RU-vid video blaming THE Drill SGTs and attempt to ruin their military careers right? Well, that's what this guy did. Angry Drill SGT goes through the Drop Out's video point by point all while adding the crassness we come to expect from a Drill SGT tired of dealing with excuses.

Yep I couldn't do Drill and ceremony had 2 left feet. Drill Sgt Torez got in my face called me Private Gomer Pile. Had me stand watching everyone with my hat backwards and my thumb In my mouth. Was humiliating and horrible. Then he assigned me the Platoons best Private as my new battle budy and we had to practice at D&C every chance we got. I worked very hard at it and became one if the best in the Platoon. My Drill handled it perfectly tought me several life lessons that a way.

Your supposed to get treated like shit. THATS WHAT ITS ABOUT! Sadly everyone loves to be pussy hurt.. so many people actually fucking quit when I had me a medical injury that got me fucked out. I literally fought for hell on earth to keep going. But I had people quitting beside me that said it wasn’t for them. And they had the chance to graduate before I even did... it’s fucking upsetting and then they get pissed because they don’t have any special rights with getting out.

When I went through basic there was a single non trainee that was looked at without any kind of negativity towards from us or the Drill Sergeants. He got diagnosed with asthma while we were there, but up until that point he did damn near everything within his power to be the best he could. I wish that guy the best of luck. Woulda been a great Soldier.

The key is "up until that point he did damn near everything within his power to be the best he could". Forget Basic Training, _in life_ people respect people who give it their all. We can respect a guy who tries hard and falls short. We do not respect people who do not try, and people who quit.

Him crying about hand sanitizer was hilarious. I can't count how many meals I've eaten with greasy, dirty, muddy hands. It builds character.

@whatbroicanhave50character35
@Ronnie P Shit I'm no soldier but I've eaten gas station sandwiches with unholy hands more times than I can count. Diesel fuel and gasoline, hydraulic fluid, oil of several different types, fertilizer, pesticides, rotten potato/squash/gourd, dirt, lithium grease, roof tar, paint, probably plenty more. Maybe a quick rinse with a bit of water to get the bulk of it off. The guy's actually being a big whiny pussy.
@RonniePTexan
@RonniePTexan Год назад
@@whatbroicanhave50character35 Amen brother! You don't have to be a soldier to be a man. When he started whining about hand sanitizer it made me wonder if it wasn't really a woman. Your list looks a lot like mine! Last week I swapped a fuel pump, so I'm covered in gasoline, but I cleaned my hands like a man- with a shop rag!
@whatbroicanhave50character35
@Ronnie P Nastiest shit I ever had on my hands while eating is glyphosate. Not the baby bitch diluted Walmart roundup stuff, no I was diluting the ultra-concentrated stuff with gallons of water for weed treatments on nearly a hundred acres of crops. Plenty of times I'd get done spraying and just sit down for a snack or lunch after pouring some water from a bottle over my hands and rubbing. Got done there when I nearly lost my life to a machine though, we weren't what you'd call "OSHA compliant". My point is, is you're usually expected to do what you gotta do to get the job done right and get it done quickly. Washing your hands every time you might have a little something on them wastes tons of what little time you have in the day. We've 100% tried guys out and laughed hysterically every time we saw them wipe their hands on their jeans and we definitely didn't invite them back a second day. Sure sanitizer doesn't take any time but I don't know man, I hardly ever get sick and I don't bother keeping my hands meticulously clean unless I cook for someone else or I'm getting done for the day so I don't get black lightswitches lol.

Even as a non-trainer, I still tried my damdest to pull my weight. (I broke my arm in red phase) I would still do PT that didn't require my arm, and I would do forward lunges on exercises that required arm usage until the battalion commander told my DS not to let me. When that happened, I started taking over all of the Fire Guard so my battles could sleep to the point where I was a literal zombie. DS asked me what the hell was wrong, and my battle told em' "Moseley Didn't wake anyone up for Fireguard.) In the end, I was sent home on temp leave for R&R, but when it came time to give it another go, I specifically asked to be placed in my old company. And you best believe my DS's were on my ass much more than everyone else'. But that's something I expected and was humbled by. My DS's expected more of me because I was a recycle, and that only made me want to try harder and prove they were correct to believe in me. Long story short, I graduated at the top of my platoon with a rank upgrade. 3'rd Platoon was the best of all 5 platoons, winning all four flags too. Here I am now writing this almost two years later about to promote to SPC. The Army will NOT give up on you, and nor will your Drill Sergeants, First Sergeant and Battalion commander. You just have to show them that you are motivated to succeed.
@RonniePTexan

So true brother. You listed your Drill, Battalion Commander etc, but I'll add to that. In the civilian world and everywhere on the planet, people respect you for giving your all. When I got to boot in the Navy in 86 I was a total cluster fuck. The CO put me up front in the barracks and had the company Master at Arms (a man 10 years my senior) take me under his wing. By the time we were done with service week (week 4) I was a fucking squared-away sailor. Hardcore, standing tall and passing the tests with ease. The CO never gave up on me, and I made him proud by not giving up on myself. I went on to Apprenticeship training and then to the fleet. After one year aboard a ship, I was trained as a Hospital Corpsman and then trained 8404 field medic I gained my FMF in 1994 and went on to serve with the USMC in several combat operations. I served 20 years retired and now work for the VA as an RN. I take care of our brothers and sisters and make a hell of a nice living doing it. I owe it all to a BT1 who was my training officer at Great Lakes Ill. He never gave up on me; he was very hard on me, but that is because he knew my limits better than I knew them myself. I would not change a thing. Semper Fi brother! Much love from an old navy man.

I adapted well, mentally, to the soldierization process, but I was physically weak. That being said, excuses are like assholes. I would never badmouth the Army because I didn't make it. The DS weren't cruel, they were hard. Not one of them didn't wear a CIB. All in all, my time in basic training was very good for me. I learned so much about myself. I'd do it again, in a heartbeat. But as it is, I'm serving my country as a civilian, and that's okay too. You join up, don't be a shitbag. You get drummed out, don't be a shitbag, and damn sure don't blame the Army. I'm not a soldier right now, not because green team bad, but because I sucked. And you're damn fucking straight I'll take accountability for that to anybody that asks.

Ah. This dude's lectures remind me how my step dad raised me. He was raised by a Marine. It sucked being chewed out and disciplined sometimes because If I smirked or laughed I would get backhanded, but I survived and it was good for me. I think it is a great idea to speak to trainees like drill sergeants traditionally do. The more pressure they have on them at all times, the more hardened their nerves will be during moments in their career's of extreme pressure situations that demand precision and timely decision making.

I was 24 when I went to basic. The drills there were pretty much the same as my dad and granddad while growing up. Follow instructions, do the job and don't fuck up. Basic and AIT was a breeze for me. I could never understand the mental weakness of some of the other privates breaking down just because a drill was yelling at them. What did they expect for failing to listen and fucking up?
@bubblehead4270
@bubblehead4270 2 года назад
Personally I think it’s the lack of responsibility that is put on young men that fails to turn them into well adjusted adults. I grew up kind of privileged (particularly after my dad graduated college and got a good job) but even then I was expected to get good grades, get a job, buy my own car and pay for my own gas, insurance, and phone bill. Most people in my school looked at me like my parents were either poor or simply oppressive and unfair (these kids had everything handed to them). When I got to basic in 2015 there was a clear distinction between the recruits who grew up privileged and sheltered lives vs those who either had to pull their own weight to help the family stay afloat, or simply they were just raised to take on responsibilities at a young age (typically guys who were doing farm work or helping their dad fix up the house/car/yard since they were little). I quickly learned that the latter had an easier time in bootcamp regardless if they were 18 like myself, your age, or older, and I stuck around with them and humbled myself to learn from them. The kids who you knew had privileged lifestyles often complained a lot and struggled to understand the why they had certain tasking or how to pull their own weight. Some people figure it out by the time they hit the fleet, but some guys just never learn and they complain too much about everything to everyone and they ruin the command climate because the military caters to everyone’s feelings now and they never get properly adjusted to a military mindset, nonetheless an adult one. I know these people have always existed but it really does feel like this problem has gotten bigger inside the military and society as a whole.

Yep. I was 22 when I started Basic. I was a weak little beanpole that couldn't even get a sub 20 minute time on the 2 mile run; but you know what? I pushed and pushed. Show up at the right time, at the right place, in the right uniform, do as you're told, keep your nose down, don't be stupid, and you'll be fine; except for the occasional group punishments. I don't even remember if I personally had a DS ever get in my face after the Shark Attack; cuz I wasn't one of the ones that needed extra disciplinary correction. Physically, hardest thing I've ever done. Mentally, it was a cake walk.

If I could share, as someone who quit USMC bootcamp and later continued to the Air Force. I think its always important to move forward and not become bitter, for me, it was really rough for a couple reasons that I think I just tell myself to rationalize my decision. One being I'm 125 at 5'9", and lost about 10 pounds from muscle atrophy (simply due to calorie intake vs burn from the PT and such), and the boots I received were 2.5 sizes small. This caused intense pressure sores that I'm still scarred with to this day. That was my fault because I was too afraid to "rock the boat" so to say and tell to the remaining 2 out of 4 of my DI's (which had family emergencies that had them gone for a few weeks), and to my SDI, he did his absolute best and is one of the best men I've ever met, but was simply too busy due to him unable to get somebody or have the time to switch my boots, which in hindsight seems very petty of me. As for the weight loss, it was simply a factor of the circumstance, which made it clear to me that I should not be burdening fellow soldiers with my difficulties in real combat vs a controlled environment. Maybe thats what I tell myself, but I truly did feel guilty for wasting those government dollars, and abandoning my buddies. And failing my DI's. In conclusion. The Air Force gave me a second chance, and even though they probably shouldn't have, they did, and I work hard to be better than I was, and to my SDI, he was the best damn Marine I ever knew. I hope they understood. I try my best not to regret it everyday. If anyone got this far, thanks for reading. I don't tell many people this but I thought this would be a good spot

I noticed on the first one being picked up, and whispered to my battle buddy to secure his rifle. I think the one guy picked up like an entire platoon's worth. Another incident, again, chow. We march back to the barracks, we had some brass there at the time, DS addresses the company "COMPANY, Do we perform facing movements while at port arms?" Company: "NO DRILL SERGEANT!" DS: whispers to the LT "Watch this. Company, Right Face" half the idiots moved, I didn't and I was just shaking my head.

When i went through Infantry OSUT, i was not the best trainee. It took me 7 attempts to qualify with my rifle, i was always falling out of ruck marches, and I had a hard time memorizing basic D and C. However, come graduation day, my senior drill sergeant came up to me and shook my hand. I asked him why, and he said "While you were not the best trainee, you stuck it out to graduate. I respect a man with heart and willpower to see things through". That was when i learned that no matter how hard things get, if you stick with something and never quit, you can accomplish what you set out to do. I have respect still for that Drill Sergeant.

Probably because you're not supposed to under normal circumstances. Most Physical and Mental illnesses that disrupt your ability to train are screened for prior to you signing on the dotted line. If you somehow get in with a pre-existing condition and its discovered during training then you don't get disability coverage. Injuries that occur during training are dealt with by allowing you to malinger until you are physically fit to complete your training, or if they are debilitating then they give you a medical discharge and you get covered. All quitters fail to graduate, but not all people who fail to graduate are quitters.

At the end of red phase in June '02, I took a bad step running to formation and got a second degree sprain of my right foot. The doctor recommended I recycle. My DS took me and my battle buddy to the CO's office and we met with the commander, 1SG, and senior DS. The commander explained that my injury was borderline for recycle, and then he asked my DS if he could get me through to graduation if I wasn't willing to give up. My DS took a moment and said "Yessir, I'll get him through if he won't quit." The senior DS looked at me and said "Pri't, if you wanna quit, you quit NOW. This is your last opportunity to do so." I graduated on time, and I carried the guidon at graduation.

When I was at basic training, we had a private decide he wanted to pull the "I'm suicidal" card. When we started practicing the high and low crawl he just watched and our DS saw him laughing at us. There was another holdover that was sitting with him (he was a holdover because he received a really serious head injury that barred him from training further, he was by no means a quitter) and when the DS saw mister suicide laughing at us. He told us to stand by, walked over to him, told the other holdover to walk away. And proceeded to absolutely lay into this kid for several minutes. And said some stuff that really could have got him in a lot of trouble. But that private didnt laugh at us after that. DS told him "next time go ahead and just kill yourself. They're over there learning to be soldiers and yoire sitting here because you're a little bitch and didnt have to heart to continue" among other things
