Absolutely love this movie, I wish todays films had an ounce of the fun the 80's action flicks had. The guy who plays the chief baddies main henchman here, the one Dalton rips the throat out of, is in real life Marshall Teague who, among other things, played a sword wielding Narn in the tv show Babylon 5 and the pilot of one of the shuttles in Armageddon with Bruce Willis. I got to meet him twice as security at sci-fi cons and I got to say, for a guy who played this character so evil he is one of the nicest guys alive. Ex-Navy SEAL, ex-sheriff and a guy who knows a dozen ways to kill you with his pinkie finger and yet remembers your name after meeting you once a year ago :)

Ever since that day when ever Bill Murray finds the movie anywhere on TV he calls her husband and tells him that she's getting banged up against a wall by Patrick Swayze.

My wife loves/loved this movie when it came out. I just found it to be too unbelievable. I enjoyed the fight scenes and the chicks, but when the cops FINALLY show up in the last scene of the movie I was like "where the hell have these guys been for the entire movie?"

Thanks for the reviews Drinker. I was a teenager in the late 80's and loved seeing these movies in the theater. Everyone left happy and didn't care about the plot holes or ridiculous action scenes. I took my son to Rise of Skywalker, seen the confusion in his face, and realized how badly films have fallen in the last several decades...

I love this because it's so wonderfully over the top and yet megachad at the same time. Only two sad things, Sam Elliott's off camera death and Keith David hardly being used. EDIT: Damn, I wrote that before watching the video. You made the same basic complaints I did. Huh. Guess they are the two most glaring issues if you like the film.

@@wesleywarsmith1113 Yes it was odd. Sam Elliot was actually only 44 when he did Road House. Only 8 years older than Patrick Swayze who he keeps calling "kid". Not exactly young, but a ways from old man. Sam Elliot does have one of those faces that seems like it was born older. Maybe it's the gray hair, gray beard, and the way he hobbles around in this. You get the impression of someone in their mid to late 50's.

Just watched this a couple days ago, and yeah it's absurd to 10th degree, but I love this show! Swayze being an actual trained martial artist by Benny "The Jet", who did a lot of films opposite Jackie Chan as well as being one the best kickboxers around. Also being a trained dancer and gymnast helps Swayze pull off the choreography and stunt work all his own and I appreciated how some of these bar brawls were taken from actual bouncers back in the day. I feel more like Sam Elliot in this movie broke down but still will throw with the best with them just needed a lot more icy hot to get throw the night, but I can watch this even through the nonsense far more than modern films.

Ah Road House. From my late teens to late 30's I bounced in 17 different bars, and always instructed the younger head smashers to watch Road House. You'd be amazed at how many had not seen it. It's a ridiculous movie on it's surface, but imo if you look deep into it's wester roots you'll find a great film. I always like to fan script this and Point Break. After the events in Jasper, Dalton is a changed man and heads to the coast to rob banks under his new Zen name Bohdi. Still wondering why Keith David had a mere cameo when the guy was a star by then. I assume his role ended up on the editors floor.

@@botep5529 I did watch season 1 of the Reacher TV series. I've never read the books and all I knew about it going in was that people were mad about Tom Cruise being too short for the movies. That said, I enjoyed most of it, but I thought it had two main flaws: 1. Reacher himself was far too good at everything, I felt like he needed a flaw or weakness to overcome and grow. 2. The tone of the show kinda bounced back and forth between hyper-violent murder mystery and goofy buddy-cop. I'm exaggerating, but it was just a bit jarring to go from brutal crucifixion murder scene to wise-cracking support characters in the next scene. I'm excited to watch Chris Pratt's new show The Terminal List, just based on interviews with Jack Carr. (And Pratt is good at most content he's in)
