Hi Webby Thanks for your videos. We weren’t able to get the PP with our Wildtrak. I’ve seen on Facebook forums talk of an accessory - see below. Are you aware of such an option, as my dealer is unaware. TIA. Was just in at Ford organising the final stuff before puck up. Going through accessories and for those that wanted the PP overhead switches. You can get basically the same thing as an option, plus a lead to the rear tub and Anderson pluf from it also. Then about 30 different button symbols.. Overhead switches and under bonner stuff was about $800

@jpb308 Thank you, great to hear you’re enjoying the videos. Yes, there is a dealer fitted option for the overhead auxiliary switches. I’m not sure what the availability is like as a lot of accessories are taking a while to come through, but I’m guessing a lot quicker than waiting for a wildtrak with the premium pack!🤣

Hi Webby, it there a substantial difference in sound quality from the B&O premium system and the stock system. I was hoping you were going to cover this. Some say there is huge difference others are saying its hardly noticeable. It would be good to get your opinion as you can compare side by side.

That's an objective impression based on individuals' hearing/sound and hearing loss rates, also affected by outside noise intrusions including sounds transmitted from different tyres/road surfaces.

Unfortunately, Ford hasn’t given us any of the dimensions for the new Ranger yet, it must be some sort of closely guarded secret that they don’t want to tell anyone which is frustrating! I’m going to a Ford training day on Wednesday so I’ll see if anyone there knows.

Would like to see the ARB accessories approved by Ford, ie bullbar, BP51 shocks, canopy etc, etc. The switches overhead must feed to a relay block somewhere, I would imagine there would be a terminal block in the engine compartment? Are there spring rate options, because the weight of bullbar and winch will need to be compensated for? You showed automatic engagement of 4H and rear diff lock, however can diff-lock be manually turned off if the car needed to execute tight turns through tree's, etc, where diff-lock will be loading up axles?

Hi Webby, thank you for the great no-nonsense informative review, one of many I have watched on the Wildtrack but definitely one of the most helpful. You motioned doing a back-to-back trial on fuel economy/efficiency between the Bi Turbo and the V6, suggesting that you thought there may not be much difference in ‘real life’ figures. I don’t necessarily NEED a V6, but would it be worth it for the $3K extra for the drive/ride quality, smoothness of gear change as well as AWD feature, given that Fuel economy difference may be negligible? I would be VERY interested in this side-by-side comparison, may well help me finally decide which way to go. Thank you
@WebbyOnCars
@WebbyOnCars 2 года назад
@David Edwards Thank you for your comments, I'm glad you found my video helpful. If it was me I'd go for the V6 as the engine is much quieter and smoother, and it's also quieter inside the cabin aswell compared to the 2.0 litre engine. The only downside to the V6 is how long it takes to get one at the minute, where the 2.0 litre would arrive a lot sooner. The fuel economy test is one of many videos I've got planned for the new Ranger, so hopefully I'll get that filmed soon.

HI again Webby, thanks again for all of the videos, they have been so very helpful in us arriving at our decision to go with the V6 Wildtrak over the Bi Turbo Wildtrak. The 'mistake' I made was taking a V6 (albeit the Sports model) for a test drive. I thought this might have helped make the call that the Bi Turbo was the way to go, but quite the opposite happened. The drive in the V6 was smoother, more effortless, quieter and gear changes so much less noticeable. When we arrived back at the dealership, the salesperson who had been helping us along the journey told us about their trip to the Ford Test track in Melbourne where they had spent a few days driving each of the Ranger Models. He explained how the AWD V6 was so much safer on the road because of how it transferred torque from one wheel to another as required, particularly in slippery conditions (exactly like the conditions were test driving on that day.) The Bi Turbo in 2H was relatively easy to get out of control under sipplery conditions on the skid pan, the V6 AWD was almost impossible. But the real clincher was fuel consumption. We test drove exactly the same journey in both the Bi Turbo and V6. I drove out and my wife drove back to the dealership. Apart from weather conditions, the only other variable was the engine. In the Bi Turbo, the consumption over a 25 km trip (including city and highway driving and also including some climbing) was 9.1 l/100 kms. Surprisingly (to me) was the V6 AWD in the same trip did 9.4 l/100 kms...a negligible difference given the drive quality and added safety benefit. Maybe not completely scientific, but good enough for our purposes. The salesperson then added that this difference may be even less with a caravan on the back (the very reason we a looking at a dual cab) because the lower rev range the V6 would need to work in and the fact that it would just not have to work as hard as the BiTurbo. Following this V6 test drive and after a short conversation, we decided the V6 was the way to go...in the end a no brainer. We have put a deposit down and expect delivery in Feb 2023. Thanks again for your help and reviews which have been immensely helpful in arriving at this decision. Look forward to having it and seeing how well it does tow.

@@WebbyOnCars Thanks again @WebbyOnCars for all your videos and helpful info. Good news is our V6 Wildtrak has arrived (early due to a cancellation of another order) so we took delivery just prior to Christmas. So far, VERY impressed with it. Lots to get our head around and learn about, but lovely drive for us both and enjoying the many safety and comfort features it has. Also very glad we went the V6 option. On the fuel consumption front, general driving has produced results as low as 8l/100 kms and that is in Tasmania where we have lots of hills, not just flat straight highways. Towing was even more impressive. My previous 2 ltr turbo diesel Volkswagen Tiguan towed our current caravan at between 12 & 13.5 l/100 kms. We towed the same van on a trip towards the west coast of Tas (very hilly driving) and achieved fuel economy between 14 and 15 l/100 kms. I honestly was expecting something around 20 l/100 kms was was super impressed with that. When we plugged in, the integrated trailer brake system stepped us through the process os setting it up and saving it as a trailer in our list. Very different system to the Redarc Tow Pro Elite V3 system I was using in my previous car but I think this one does so much more automatically which the driver does not even have to think about so this is a good thing. Anyway, still finding your videos on all things Next Gen Ranger as we get used to what it can do (eg Intelligent Speed Limiter one I just watched) so please keep them coming. Thanks again, David

The premium pack should be an option. Ford would have known it was going to be an issue supplying it to Raptor and this and yet they still went ahead. I enjoyed the review as always. I’m quite a big fan of the colour, the looks of the Ranger and the quirks and features of it. I am very hopeful to go inside the new Ranger when it reaches European shores. And I think for some areas like the US and Mexico, they’ll get the Ranger with the 2.3 Ecoboost 4cyl (probably with more power than the outgoing model - the outgoing Ranger for North America and Mexico with the Ecoboost made 202kW/270hp). But in Europe, I guess we’ll just get the diesels in the normal Ranger. I much prefer a diesel for a ute cos they get better gas mileage than gasoline engines when pulling heavy weights.
