He was so right. Start with kane, and we lose. Start with Watkins, and we win. Everyone could see it except Southgate. And how could he not start with palmer? He needed to make those changes for this game, but he bottled it.
Southgate is no Alf Ramsey. Ramsey dropped Greavsie, England's best striker, for Geoff Hurst. He believed Hurst made the team better. Southgate won't drop Kane. He won't substitute Kane until the damage is done. Don't dream that Spain will have a poor game. They will play the same as they have played every game.
Watkins coming off the bench is very different to him starting. He needs to come off the bench and run at the tired Spanish defender's at about 60 or 65 mins.
Just imagine win Croatia, Italy, Germany and France in the last two weeks, playing an amazing football, and 24 hours before the final, you are listen to an English fan saying "Spain could be overhyped". 😂
Are you saying italy or france were playing amazing fooball? Which team? The one who only scored one goal from open play or the team that lost to the team we beat
@@BonitaUzABumGermany dominated after they conceded. No surprise. They were the host nation and were shitting themselves. Perhaps Spain should let the opponents score first.
Something eerily similar to Tottenham’s Champions League Final. Lucas Moura dragged Spurs into that final with an unforgettable performance against Ajax, but Pochettino started an unfit Kane over Lucas in the final and they lost. Yes, the penalty they conceded was controversial, but apart from that, Kane did what he’s been doing this whole tournament and dropped deep, clogging up the center of the pitch, and it squandered the 61% possession they had in that final.
Kane will start even if he snaps an ankle trippier will be in same old tactics Spain will bend the team over because southgate will make sure he lose he has to go but fa are bent and love this useless pathetic excuse of a manager
@@thf3038we’ll never know but the similarity of these situations is there: starting an unfit Kane over a player who’s *already* made a difference in the tournament.. getting them into that final.. his reputation and “leadership” favoured above real impact.
.....LOL my friend, at 8:47 you state "we got to hope that Spain don't click" !?!?!.....Spain have WON all 6 of their matches played at the EUROS beating Croatia, Italy, Albania, Georgia, Germany and France, meanwhile England have drawn 3 of their 6 matches against Denmark, Slovenia and Switzerland (required penalties?).....HOWEVER, you say England have to start Luke Shaw at left-back, but he basically has NOT played active first team football since early February ???, likewise he will be 'up-against' Lamine Yamal on the right-wing supported by right-back Dani Carvajal, which will clearly be well out of Luke Shaw's capabilities both as a defender and moving the ball forward !!!.....this is also true for England right-back Kyle Walker, who will absolutely be unable to defend against Spain's left-winger Nico Williams who is supported by Marc Cucurella on the left-side !!!.....
I’ll be honest, I’d prefer to have Watkins or Toney start over Kane due to form but we all know it’s not gonna happen. Kanes the captain and top scorer and has always been a starter under Southgate, he’s not gonna change it now so I think let’s just get behind the lads and cheer them on. I’ve hated the way we’ve played for most of this tournament but I can’t argue we’re in another final. Let’s be united and together behind the boys, COME ON ENGLAND!
You only make a mistake when it's not learnt from. We've had multiple chances to realize the obvious and now in a final we have to say thanks to Lady luck but we do not need you now. We will do what is necessary. If Southgate does not do what needs to be done we will suffer.
Look at Kane's record in finals when he started. 0 WINS!!! hence the 0 trophies. no matter how good he is, his spurs bottlejob dna will cost them another finals...
England not only have to play their best as a group of individuals and a team but also forget anything Southgate told them and focus on the skills they've developed under their respective world class managers at their clubs
overestimating Spain and underestimating England, come on mark wake up. England have looked embarrassing in the easiest side of the draw, and Spain have looked fantastic in the hardest side.
Spain have played nobody. Germany are ranked 87th in the world now and France haven't scored in open play since 1997. You obviously know nothing about football if you think Spain were on the hardest side.
@@alphonsoacqua win or lose, Southgate gets a renewal. Which means 2 more years of England fans falling asleep and forgetting if England won their qualifiers and friendlies.
2 teams have already been knocked out as their manager refused to drop clearly out of form strikers because of their past exploits; Belgium (Lukaku), Portugal (Ronaldo) - will England (Kane) be the third?
Using Kane as an impact sub is like swapping out a slug for a snail, it won't work. Watkins is perfect to stretch the back line when there are tired legs out there. Kane will start, not worth debating it though if it were up to me I'd start Toney and bring Watkins on later.
Quite true…. Watkins was brought on after 80 mins and within a couple of mins had scored a striker’s goal IN MINUTES ! Something that Harry Kane had not done in all the games COMBINED in which he had played almost every minute !! Watkins managed to do what Kane hadn’t done throughout the tournament !!
He is going to start Kane but I think his strategy is to start Kane then sub Watkins which would be brilliant because Watkins is a last minute game changer
All good except the 'Spain could be overhyped' comment. Spain look utterly electric, with shades of 2008 in there. The last thing I'd be doing as an England player, coach or fan is that Spain aren't as good as they seem
Spain have been at their best in a decade. I don’t think they’ll do a repeat of 2008, 2010 and 2012 but they are at their strongest right now. Sure they may not be unbeatable but they will keep the ball to try and win.
If southgate starts watkins and england loses, everyone will be like why change a WINNING TEAM, it was working. If kane starts and england loses, everyone will be why start kane ? So inshort trust the manager. No england manager have brought england this far twice Try backing SOUTHGATE like u have been backing ETH all year long
You say that...yet he's Englands most successful manager in recent memory.. He's getting winning performances out of the players this is our 2nd major finals in 3 years It's crazy how quickly ppl can forget England has had great players for the longest but we're still only getting to quarter finals..and playing garbage football.
Kane is still a don.. his scoring record speaks for itself.. and deserves to be there as captian.. he is a leader and with him in the squad we have got to a final..
Yep, I've been thinking this since before the start of the Slovenia game. It's been blatant that you can't ignore your entire left hand side, put two number tens and a striker who vacates his position to fill their space. Mark is spot on here and we've all been crying out for these clear changes that were needed to be implemented and tried out before this tournament. Do it or go!
Forget Kane - Palmer over Foden as well. A reminder that across 2 tournaments, PFA Player of the Year Phil Phoney has had more children during the Euro's (1), than he has G/A in the Euro's (0) 💩
Watkins was class, but we should wait till halftime to bring him on. It was a great substitute because it changed the Dutch shape and they were rattled. If we start the game with Watkins spain will be ready for balls in behind anyway, Watkins effectiveness came from the change and surprise
He just ain’t going to drop Kane 😂😂😂 We will win because our players are just too good and when we do then we got Southgate for 2 years with the best group of players we ever had. After one game again everyone sticking up for Southgate when we got lucky against Slovakia. Fed up of it. Players are too good individually that’s why we in the final!
Well said. This tournament he has been a liability, his first touch and ball control, pass strength and movement have been abysmal throughout the whole tourney. Wish more people would see Declan Rice as this.
If England go two goals down against Spain then it’s game over. It’s been a long while since England conceded two goals in one game and I’m not sure how they’ll handle going two goals down if it happens.
At this stage of a tournament, given the amount of games they've played this season, fitness is the decisive factor. Watkins starts because; he is known for his stamina, only played a little so has energy in the bank, and scored winner last game so will be full of confidence. - Watkins STARTS. Kane out. - If England are drawing at 60th, wait. - If England are losing at 60th minute, keep Watkins on and bring on Toney to get the goal(s). - If England are winning at 60th minute, wait until 70th then swap Watkins for Toney. Kane is a legend and has played his part as captain beautifully, but there are more fit players in the squad, and this is the game to play them.
Spain will know that Southgate will play the same team. This gives them a big advantage. We must start Watkins or Tony to upset their thinking and tactics.
"Some people might be overhyping Spain?". Are you serious? They've had six out of six wins. Not saying they're invicible, but that is not what I called over-hyped. They have truly got to the final on merit.
Completely different starting a game to coming on as sub, Kane will start and hopefully we can go ahead then when the Spanish defence has to push up to chase a goal that’s when you bring Watkins on, Watkins hasn’t been great when he’s started for England either
You're so WRONG. Shortsighted. You have to reward Kane for his service to England. He's given good service and deserves recognition. What if this were his last tournament?
I think his injury history is catching up to him. Plus he’s 30 years old and once most footballers hit 30 it’s usually downhill performance wise. Yes Messi and Ronaldo are certain exceptions but not everyone can be like them.
At this point Kane is just interested in his brand. He knows he's shot but he's too selfish. If only he was selfish on the pitch and took chances at scoring!
spain won 2 finals already to reach the final , england had it really really really easy and they hardly got in the final. spain deserves to win , england will not win. if they do, it will be a miracle.. a good miracle for england.
Gordon should've been given a punt on the left while Kane is on, sad we didn't/won't see it. He's the missing pacy winger for Kane to find by dropping deep, which is actually a great part of his game if used correctly. Then if that doesn't work, swap for Watkins and Palmer/Foden or vice versa
Mark would be thrilled, glad that Kane had a great game. Don't you people watch the channel? It's nothing personal against Kane, Mark just wants England to win.
If he doesn’t drop Kane I will be SHOCKED if we win the final tomorrow. Never say never but think we would have a much better chance if Watkins and Palmer were brought on. Or even just try Trent and Toney for god sake. Anything other than bloody Kane 🤦♂️
Remember when pochettino started kane over lucas moura in the UCL final even after coming off injury? What is his reputation, How does he keep getting away with this? 😂
Even the squad selection was frustrating. Trippier has had a crap season and shouldn't have been on the plane never mind the team. Kane has been atrocious. We'd have scored more goals without him. People could have been talking about us like Spain if Southgate had a different mindset.
I don’t agree with this, because Watkins’ impact is what we need. I would quibble Toney for Kane but I think giving Centre backs something different to worry about is important in a game like this one.
I love your commentary, before this euro i didnt know anything about the three lions, now because of you i am almost passionate for them to win and i am german
