Holy sh**t we made it to 5,000 subscribers! Thank you guys so much, you have no idea how cool this is for me! I’m really happy that you all like this series and I’ll definitely be making more! Cheers!
Hi Pat! Congrats on your 5k subscribers. I'll give you a hint: if you wanna double the number of subscribers in a very short time, react to more Brazilian drummers. It worked for all youtubers who reacts to Brazilian musicians and bands.😉
Hi guys i'm brazilian and this guy is the only metal artist to perform over all northwest region of my country, a land abandoned by metal and here in my city he did a workshop, i guy from this dimension made a workshop in a city of 60k habitants, super professional and kind, talk to every fan, proud to us brazilian musicians and music lovers. Excuses for my english.
Hi guys! I'm brazilian too, living in the middlestate of São Paulo, as a vocal an guitar player, i always loved aquiles since i met him when he starts to play with angra, went a lot of shows from them and a workshop from aquilies too, he has a flu in the day and make the workshop either way, he's one of the hardest working man on metal. On the last song he call to all the presents with his tshirt to watch the last song of the workshop from behind the drums, i never forget this, even if a wasn't wearing his tee lol. Congrats for the channel man i've love it!
Tenta sugerir q'ele reaja a um dos professores do Aquiles e tB do Eloy, o Kiko Freitas... Tem um vídeo dele tocando com o João Bosco a musica "O ronco da cuíca", o cara é um monstro....
Aquiles told in an interview that he almost died because of training double pedal. He once ruptured an artery in his abdomen and needed to be operated on urgently. He's an animal. A source of pride for our country! 🇧🇷
He is ALWAYS 100 Percent FULL Throttle... have never seen him get tired. This is actually a SMALLER Kit than normal. He is known worldwide for his DOUBLE Kick. First time I saw him play, I lost count how many total drums; Snares, Toms, Kicks, and lots of Cymbals. ALL color coded RED including his Shoes. His ability to completely synchronize all 4 limbs is stunning. His ability to play all 4 limbs independent of the others is equally amazing. It is hard to even pick words to describe his performances, each one totally unique. I played during the 80's in Seattle. On my best days I was 10 percent of his worst day. I wonder if he is even human, so perfect and precise. He is among the TOP Drum gods to ever play...
The physical demand is really extreme, I've seen he saying in a recent interview that he loses almost 2kg per show! Like there is a plastic under his drum and in the end of the show theres a puddle of sweat there. It's insane, but his love and dedication for music is huge. He also said that now that he is at 50's he can´t just keep playing drums like this, (it had been his only exercise until now) cause he will only lose body mass, so if he wanna keep playing safely he needs to go to the gym, and he hates gym, but for the love of music and to keep playing he is doing it lol
@@Andyw1228 I think so too, but they are different styles. But if you listen to Bruno Valverde (Angra), you will see that it already compares more with Aquiles (ex-Angra).
I like an interview where he explains how he got a great sponsor with Mapex. He said that they give him a first contract (I think one year). During this year he collected and put together an album with all the magazines, interviews, workshops, etc. that he did that year. When he meets the manager next year he asks for a better sponsor, the guy tried to negotiate, so he just dropped the gigantic album on his desk to make his point. He is a guy who know how to manage a career.
THIS IS BRAZIL !!!!! hehehe O AQUILES é um Monstro ! Toca muito e é realmente muito acima da média desses bateristas que vemos por ai... Pra mim um dos melhores Bateristas do Mundo !!! Great React Pat. Like ! 👍🏻
Hello Pat, as you have already reacted to 2 great Brazilian drummers (Aquiles and Eloy), there are 3 other monsters called Igor Cavalera (Original of Sepultura), Ricardo Confessori (Original of Angra, predecessor of Aquiles) and Bruno Valverde (Current Angra and Kiko Loureiro ). Good job!
Aquiles came to my country like 5 years ago, and while the clinic was riddled with technical and backstage difficulties (the event was supposed to start at 7pm, started at midnight), the guy himself was a fucking ANGEL. So incredibly nice, humble, approachable, like holy shit, it was a pleasure talking with him for sure. And let's not get into his playing, jaw hitting the floor for the whole show, ridiculous. Listen for his Hangar stuff if you haven't, really cool stuff too!
ohhhhh this guy drums or drummed with dragonforce, angra and others. wow suprised i hadnt heard his name before, guys clearly top-level. thanks for the video
Nowhere near the best. Aquiles is a great endurance/speed type drummer, he can hit the kit hard for hours straight, thats his main skillset. He doesnt have creative fills, he doesnt have ghost notes and he's only fluent in a three or so different meters. Aquiles in his prime was arguably the most athletic drummer, but he was never the best drummer.
I heard him say once that the hardest part of this song is that final beats when he starts to slow down the drumm but the bass drumm still kick in lightspeed
Dude, don't stop reacting, you're really good at it! Your channel is awesome! Eloy Casagrande playing The heretic anthen was simply amazing, you more than anyone else could talk about, believe me, the number of subscribers doesn't match your quality of expressing about the music, congratulations!
Loved this! I watched a "drum teacher reacts to Aquiles Priester" today and I got very surprised (not to say "disappointed") to see he got confused with a paradiddle. Loved your video and your feedbacks on Aquiles' playing!
@@PatFlanigan Hey, Pat, I know there's this video with this song already, but I'd love to see a Drummer's Commentary on Bruno Valverde's interpretation of this song. Here's the link, if you want to: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OqUOXt7Y4JU.html . Thank you in advance!
Aquiles is a monster, I still have his workshop DVD. I'm really enjoying your videos and the way you present makes me want to be your friend. Keep up the good job :D
This is not a stupid react video... This is an excellent drumming analysis!! Aquiles nailed it, and you nailed it too. Subscribed!! I'm the 100th brazilian here, also have been to his workshops, and I'll reinforce what's been said... Aquiles not only plays a ton, but is also a great human being.
I know this video is about drumming, and it is about Aquiles. But I gotta mention Kiko, that man guitar skills are another fn level. Proud of our metal heroes! 🤘🏼🇧🇷
I've seen him playing it live at this album's 15th anniversary tour and I can tell it is as wonderful as his recordings. Thanks for supporting Brazilian metal artists, Pat!
You definitely just got another subscriber....your knowledge is quite amazing........also your over all knowledge and love of this amazing drummer is quite amazing....💯💯💯💯and I will definitely one day be able to play this song....one day🤟🤟🤟🤟
my man Pat! your channel is growing rapidly since this popped up in my feed and I had never seen anyone react/make commentary over drumming videos like this one on Aquiles Priester, this is actually pretty cool to watch, I'm also a musician, bass player here, and have been a fan of Angra since the late 90's, this album The Temple of Shadows is just an exquisite work of art in the prog metal scene and to see channels pop up in which you talk about how demanding this type of playing is on the drums just brings me joy! you've won yourself a sub! I have met Aquiles personally too! one time he toured with Tony Macalpine and I saw them play live in Houston TX, and you're correct, he's such a relaxed layed back kinda guy, I bought a DVD of his and got it signed from him, pretty awesome evening that was!
Nice, nice job on the video. Good comments with a nice tone. I've been waiting for someone doing a react to Aquiles. I think at least in N. America he's pretty much under rated. Fascinating bit about his soccer past and yeah that explains alot. He is kind of a machine and I mean that in the best possible way. Thanks for great video.
You really should take a look at the Shadow Hunter video in that same setting. It really shows Aquiles most impressive trait in my opinion, his musicality, his taste.
Aquiles is a monster, I have been listening to him from the Nova Era album in Angra and he is incredible. This song and Spread your fire are amazing, it has incredible endurance. Unfortunately it did not go well with the Dream Theater auditions, but it has been known to always overcome
For those who liked the song, search for it's album "Temple of shadows" from Angra. A masterpiece, you should check. Really nice video dude, cheers from Brazil +1 sub.
His shoes are actually made specially for him. They are made by a brazilian company called Urban Boards and they also made the Virgil Donati's and Neil Peart's drumming shoes. But this one are based on boxing shoes. Like the Everlast Force Knit, made for boxing and wore by drummers
Now we need some Marco Minnemann. I'd recommend "Luminol" (from the Get All You Deserve Blu-Ray & DVD), on the Kscope channel. It's not a drum cam, but so much fun. If you do prefer a drum cam, I'd go with "Drum For Your Life" (Performance), on the Drumeo channel. Awesome videos, Pat Flanigan!
MAn! amazing! Made some video about Bruno Valverde!he is brazilian too, is the new Drumer of Angra since Aquiles Priester har living the band.Bruno has played with Kiko Loureiro(Megadeth guitarrist) in Anga for years ans in this summer they record a solo album with Kiko.
He toured with Tony MacAlpine in 2016 (opening for Stave Vai). When I saw him behind the kit I was like..oh crap, that’s the guy that auditioned for Dream Theater!
Man, this whole album is amazing... another great song (faster, “proggier” and technical) is angels and demons which I highly recommend you watching as well!! Keep up the great work on this channel!!!
Man... Aquiles's is a huge monster, like Eloy. But, another sick drummer from Brasil (yeah, we write with S) is Max Kolesne, from Krisium. Check the Max work too. Greatings from Brasil man!
