Jackson Browne is widely regarded as one of the greatest singer-songwriters ever. He continued to impress his fans and critics with his poignant songwriting and undisputed knack for songcraft. His Masterpiece album "LATE FOR THE SKY' is considered so good that In 2020, the album was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry. Every song on that album is a jewel. A song by song (one at a time) tribute would be something to consider. Playing them one every few weeks might take a while, but it would be worth it.

JB has a deep understanding of human nature and the ability to express it through music. "The Pretender" is a perfect example.

To me, the best song of the album is Fountain of Sorrow. It has one of the most clever opening lines you'll ever hear. And it is a beautiful song start to finish.

Late For The Sky is a great album. I can’t choose the best among his first 5. They were all great.

So again you’ve been introduced to one of the great songwriters/poets of the past 50 years. Jackson Browne’s catalogue is deep, varied and inspiring. Travel down his rabbit hole, you won’t be disappointed. Check out the live performance video of The Load Out/Stay to get a better feeling for both Jackson and his band, particularly David Lindley, who we unfortunately recently lost.

Amanda Shires explained the difference. It's a fiddle when you're buying it. It's a violin when you're selling it!

The title cut from this album was described by Don Henley of Eagles fame, as the most beautiful song ever written. You really should treat yourself to “Late For The Sky”. I really do like your reactions. Keep on rockin’ Lee. 😎✌🏼🇺🇸

You reacted to Jungleland yesterday, which likely makes a Top 10 for most Springsteen fans. All you really need to know about how brilliant JB's songwriting is is that Bruce inducted him into the RRHOF, and specifically discussed this album. All of Jackson's first 5 albums are lyrical masterpieces, but Late For the Sky is imho the desert island album The title track is played thruout the classic Deniro/Scorsese film Taxi Driver and every song on this album is simply outstanding. Fountain of Sorrow is likely about Joni Mitchell, For a Dancer was inspired by the death of a close friend and two of the most underrated songs are Farther On and The Late Show. And every song features the brilliance of David Lindley on steel,slide,fiddle...If it had strings, David could play it masterfully...

Jackson is an environmentalist and has supported environmental causes for most of his career, and this song reflects those passions. Beautiful song.

This is about losing the hope for change that was spawned in the 1960s. Young people were getting jaded and just worn out by the challenges of living.

Late For the Sky is simply a brilliant album (every song is fantastic: For A Dancer, Fountain Of Sorrow, title track...), as a Central European I'm jealous, I heard his Montreux concert 1982 in the car today. On the No Nukes album MSG 1979 there is a brilliant live version of this song, as well as a Sydney Carter cover of the 60s classic THE CROW ON THE CRADLE with Graham Nash; otherwise there is also the JB hit Stay with Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty+Rosmary Butler. RIP David Lindsey on violin.

One of Jackson’s best songs!Fountain of Sorrow is incredible too!Another long forgotten Ed n singer songwriter who past on too young was Dan Fogelberg. Songs like The Cage , The Passage, As The Raven Flies( with Joe Walsh), and The Power of Gold!

Although I found the flood of (sometimes fairly mediocre) singer-songwriters in the early 70s quite annoying at times, I always had a soft spot for Jackson Browne. He can really write.

If you find yourself getting drowsy get an order of hot French fries. It works for me and others. Order them "without salt" as they'll drop a new batch. Try it. Hey, it's cheap and legal.

He wrote the initial song 'Take it Easy', could not finish it and turned it over to Glenn Frey of the Eagles. Glenn finished it and it became the Eagles first hit record off of their first album.

“Redneck Friend” is first appearance by David Lindley on lap steel really ripping, and Elton John on piano under alias as he had no work permit, and Glen Frey who roomed with Jackson.
