Dryer code F01 means your control board has failed. I show you how to fix it with a $10 relay. Experienced repairmen will want to fast forward through the parts where I'm describing exactly what is going on. This video was made for people who have never done anything like this before. Don't spend big $ for control board.

This is the reason I like RU-vid. People spending their time helping others. I just had this issue pop up and for under $20 and about 25 minutes total it's fixed. Thanks a lot, really appreciate it!

Thank you! I have never soldered b4 but I owned a solder gun and solder and Flux, so I gave it a try. My first attempt was unsuccessful, but I work at elderly housing and one of my elderly women previously had a job doing soldering on computer boards. I took her my tools and in a couple minutes she removed my unsuccessful solder and put on a new one. I reassemble the dryer and saved 350 dollars for the new part plus labor! Thank you for empowering us "do it yourselfers"!!

Very helpful. After this video I canceled the repair technician, $70 service call fee, and fixed it myself. Probably saved me $400 in total which means I would have purchased a new dryer. So, you are saving the planet as well. It helps that Amazon sends all the stuff next day, what a country! The internet is fulfilling its promise when videos like this are on it.

You're video helped me fix our dryer! I have a super cool vintage soldering kit. We ordered the part off Amazon for $12. We also ordered the sucker bulb, but it never came, so we had to pick away the melted solder in tiny increments instead and I used a pointy soldering tool to "clean up" or holes (being as gentle as possible). Re-soldered it all, put it all back together and it worked like a charm. I am so thankful you made this video. You saved us a LOT of money and blessed us big time. We did laundry last night and celebrated!

@@elizabethreyes4667 it’s mentioned on the video, around the 9:00 mark, it’s G8P-1A4P, with or without the dash. Amazon has them for a variety of prices. I’ve done this repair, easy to do if you can solder. $15 fix for what the service guy wanted to charge $280 for the board and $160 (here they charge $80 for the service call and $80 per hour labour) took me about an hour from start to finish. That includes taking the lid off the dryer removal of the board, desoldering and replacing the relay. That was 2 months ago, the dryer works fine. So, $15 vs $440 and it was fun to do

Saw this video and ordered the relay online. I re-soldered the melted connection and got several months of dryer starts before it failed again. Today, when it failed a second time, I pulled out the board and replaced the relay, and my machine is running like new again. Thanks for showing the inside of the relay; it really motivated me to order the replacement part.

Thank you for the instructional video. Our dryer experienced this problem on Thursday January 21, 2021. I immediately went to RU-vid to research the F-01 code and found your video. It's Monday January 25, 2021, the dryer is fixed and we have successfully ran two loads in the dryer. The cost of the needed part was about $11 for the relay, $8 for the solder sucker tool. We owned a solder iron and socket wrench set. We did it thanks to your video!

Thank you, this is indeed the "Real Fix". I previously "repaired" my dryer re-soldering the failed solder connection. This did last for over a year, but it failed again due to another solder connection failing. This also ruined the pad on both connections, making the relay replacement more difficult. The increased resistance in the relay over time makes perfect sense, and replacement is the way to go the first time.

Absolutely worked! Make sure you order the correct voltage as some have suggested. A quick tip that I think was missed, is that removing the cross beam that the control board housing is one first makes it much easier to work with. This video saved me tons of time and money, and the de-solder and solder is really quite easy. I had a soldering iron and solder, and bought a $9 set of solder tools with the relay from Amazon that came with solder removal sucker and tape, and its good to have that if you ever need to solder anything again.

Thanks so much for this video!! The step-by-step instructions are excellent. Especially showing how to remove the solder and then resolder the new relay. I was getting an F40 code that was caused by no power to the motor control board. The relay contact having the solder melted away caused this loss of power to the control board so I was getting a code that wasn't actually the real problem. When I finally figured out that I needed to check this relay I was just about ready to go buy a new dryer. So our perfectly good dryer was saved by your video and a $10 relay. Thanks a bunch!!

AMAZING! I researched the cost of replacing the main board, determined by the F01 error code, on my Maytag Bravos Dryer. Replacement boards are $250 and up; Refurbished ones are half that or more. I figured that to replace the board, I'd have to remove the old one, so I found your video. Once I removed my old board from the white, plastic encasement, the black burn-stain from under that ONE solder connection was EXACTLY as you showed. I ordered a relay from e-Bay for under $10 but cleaned and soldered that one point under the relay and the dryer fired up perfectly. IF and WHEN it goes out again, I'll replace the relay, but until then, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I am a 60 yr. old housewife. I just watched your video for F01 error code on Maytag electric dryer. I am going to attempt my own repair, going step by step using your informative video. I will let you now if it is successful or not. Thanks, Melissa

Just did this tonight and even with my terrible soldering skills, it worked. Even if this just buys a few months of use out of the dryer, it is worth it.

I am so glad you made this video! You were very thorough and informative. My daughter has the exact same error code on her Kenmore dryer and I know where to look now and I will be able to make that repair thanks to you . Much appreciated!

If someone who has that dryer has a burned out relay they will now be able to fix it even if they do not know what a relay is. Good deal.

Thank you..Spent $25 on thermostat fuse, desoldering pump and new relay. Second try worked great. This video you made was super informative. Tricky but doable. Thank you again. My circuit board had some of the copper connection melted away so not as straight forward as your circuit board.

I just came back to thank you. This repair worked and only cost me $10. I also learned how to solder, which I have never done before. By far the best video out there going over this issue.

Wow- thank you! Incredible video- thank you for taking the time to do this. I replaced the relay for $9 and had it in and out within an hour. Saved me a new board or a new dryer- thank you!

Thanks - this solved my problem, dryer starts makes one revolution and stops, no one could figure out what was wrong, I followed the tech manual CCU VOM tests and all were good. Bought a relay for $8 at Amazon, got out my old Radio Shack iron and replaced the relay. No obvious sign on the outside of the one I removed. It is now working fine.

Thanks for this video. I knew there was a “reason” for the failure so I hunted until I found you. The others were a temporary fix and I needed the permanent fix. I got our dryer up and running till I got the new relay, then made the “real” fix. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video. My initial instinct was to replace the entire board. I ordered the relay and was able to get the dryer working again for a very cheap repair.

Thank you!! You gave me the confidence to try this on my own and my dryer has been working like a champ for about 5 months now.

im so proud of myself I called my dad to tell him. I almost thought I ruined my circuit board or something because I completed missed the blue cord because its on pedestals and im really short! Haha once i plugged that in it was all done! Thanks for your step by step. I've never soldered a circuit board before. hardest part (for me) was getting the old relay off. I did have the solder sucker that actually came with the relay. Cheers from Texas. I have clean clothes again!

Absolutely AWESOME! Same F01 on our whirlpool duet. The old relay was G8P-1A4P-ACD-12 VDC. I couldn't find that part number but found that G8P-1A4P-12VDC worked just as well. It was a bit hard getting the old solder off, but after I gently popped out the old relay, the new one fit in like a glove. After soldering...BINGO!!!! Thank you!
