Music from the official soundtrack to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies. Support the game when it releases on the Nintendo eShop on October 24th, 2013!
+Das Stärker To be honest, I always knew there was something about his name lol but I never did give it much thought lol Not after I whooped his ass in court! >:3
I actually didn't figure out the pun until I watched a lets dub of the game since I had originally thought his last name was pronounced like "toe-not-eh-" xD
Spoilers ahead. Every time I hear this song, I think of: "Did I... Did I kill my own mother? N-No.......... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" *(5 black Psyche Locks)* I guess I feel this music matched the moment perfectly.
SPOILER And it came out of the blue. *chat chat chat...* "Did I kill my mother?" *those empty eyes / those locks* I was like... "fuck you capcom, this is far too intense". xD
I totaly agree with you, that moment really shoked me, I remember I yelled a my 3DS "Nooooooo, what have you done Athena ? Tell me you haven't done it !!!" This song really have a drama side, that's why the other moment I find it match perfectly too is when apollo come back in the last chapter to indict Athena
The Terror that came with that moment... You've got a chance to make everything right, but then that happens, and it feels as though you have no chance at all. Those empty eyes and the black psyche locks... It makes you feel like the truth is something you really don't want to pursue.
The only thing I can see when I hear this masterpiece is Athena, standing with her hands over her ears (awesome detail - I believe that is supposed to represent the headphones she hated so much) blank eyes, black widget, all of her feelings mixed together and forgotten with her memories, in front of five black psyche locks . It was an ingenious move to save this theme for the best, most heart-wrenching scenes. Seriously, I may have been a bit traumatized by Athena's breakdown. (The one in the detention center)
* Spoiler Alert * " We thought the alderman was The Amazing Nine-Tails and the mayor was Tenma Taro. It was the basis for the prosecution's entire case against our client. However... ... We got the whole thing *backwards*." * Cue epic music *
Other Announce the Truth themes: "You did this, so fess up!" THIS Announce the Truth theme: "Oh, no... Oh, God no... Im-Impossible... But... BUT HOW?!"
"Announce the truth" theme, yet when i hear this the only thing that comes to my mind is scene when Phoenix tels Aura he's ready for trial in the bombed courtroom, to protect Simon, and find's out that he's not defending Simon but Athena... and then... The Black Psylocks appear... I haven't felt so much tension since i was solving a certain Sudoku.
Holy crap, this game had an amazing ongoing plot throughout all of the episodes. The very last episode had just the right mix of emotions, stellar music, awesome gameplay, and a huge climax and, of course, the plot twist. I've played through every single Ace Attorney game, yet Dual Destinies was the best. The direction for that game was awesome. The added capabilities of the 3DS to add full-3D environments and characters also helped in that regard.
HaloEliteLegend Hum~ ... To me , the best of the whole series is still trials and tribulations . I understand your arguments and respect your opinion but ... Dual Destinies has wayyy too many characters . When you play the game you just know they had no idea what to do with most of them ... Trying to create a dark side to Apollo's story , the idea was good indeed but in the end , it clearly didn't work out that well . And Trucy . Trucy was to Apollo what Maya used to be to Phoenix but since they added Athena ... She's pretty much useless . And they tried to use her at the last minute with that hostage or whatever thing ... However , yes , Dual Destinies has awesome ost !
luckjes112 I played the game over the summer, and ended up meeting someone named "Athena" at school once we got back from break. Funny :3 RiRin Kagamine David Guthary I think I'm a little biased due to the new animations/graphics of the 3DS version. I just loved them ^-^ If I had to choose from any of the other games, I'd either pick Trials and Tribulations or Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.
+HaloEliteLegend I was kinda disappointed by DD, thb. I thought Prosecutor's Path was a much better, it had a similar plot idea, except executed much better.
Personally speaking, I like AAI 2 the best. It had the best villain (imo), and had absolutely no filler cases. Every case mattered to the main plot, unlike the main series which each had at least one case that could be thrown away with a maintained main plot. That boils it down to AAI and AAI 2, and AAI 2 just trumps with better characters, story, etc.
Was anyone else slightly disappointed that only Ted did that little confession segment. I kinda wanted to see all the culprits, completely broken and shaken, explaining their motives for their crimes.
About the confession segment that you said. I don't think that this is the kind of moment that will suit everyone. Being all shaking and scared while explaining their motives will more suit the first killer. The frail one. Their personalities will make it happens. When more powerfull people like Furio. Or withdraw one like Kristoph wouldn't confess at all. Its all about their personality (Sorry for my bad english :( )
DUAL DESTINIES SPOILERS Edgeworth: I must advise that you all brace yourselves... The unidentified victim, we finally learned his identity. The victim's name... is Bobby Fulbright
Was I the only one who thought that they seriously underused this track in this game? Several moments (Specifically in the DLC case, as well as one instance in Case 1) felt like this song deserved to be played, yet they opted to use the cornered theme instead, which made the entire moment fall flat for me. TURNABOUT RECLAIMED SPOILERS: The most notable moment was when Phoenix realized that Orla now and Orla one year ago were two different Orcas. The entire moment leading up to Phoenix saying this built up to this song, but when Cornered played instead, as much as I like that track, the mood of the moment completely changed, and for the worse.
If they had used it more, the song would've had less impact (both to the player emotionally and in the story) during those critical moments. The cornered themes are more 'oh shit I'm caught' than anything, the announce the truth themes have a bit more importance story wise and should only be used when the impact of the drama is at it's thickest.
Rob Louke Exactly, they specifically conducted this song for those particular moments. Had they used it at any other times (even when the drama warranted effective use) the song wouldn't have near as much impact on the player. Songs like this can only be played once or twice before you get 'used' to the dramatic feel it creates.
I think you're objectively wrong with the turnabout reclaimed thing, it was the final clue that lead to the "culprit" being caught, that's ALWAYS a pursuit theme, using a truth theme for it definitely would've ruined the excitement of it
i love how the "confess the truth" themes change their mood after AAI. it's not "you finally beat him! it's time for him to *confess the truth!* " anymore. it's more tragic now, like the truth that we tried to uncover is something unbelievable and sad for the player, something that the player _doesn't_ want to admit as the truth. like the time, when (SPOILERS FOR AA6) apollo realises that dhurke was the second victim that queen amara channeled.
Interestingly the theme that played during the AA6 scene is not the confess the truth theme, although it does share similar motifs to other confess the truth themes
spoilers It fits the prolongation of trial when Apollo chimed in very well. Kind of delivers a message: "No-no, we aren't stopping here. Didn't gum*uck tell you? It's only a beginning!"
SPOILERS! The second you remember the best moment this song played... DARN IT ATHENA! WHY DID YOU BREAK MY NEW YEARS RESOLUTION!? XD Really though, that made me shed a tear and yell at my DS. As I was attached to this new and interesting character. (Even though I had to reconsider it a bit when the first flashback came. O_o) And the empty eyes, the colorless Widget, the black locks... Darn it Athena, why did you have to make it harder then it needed? XD
Usually the harder maths questions (especially ones where you have to _prove_ something) have a jump in logic in them. But once you get it, everything starts falling together. Oh! I can do this! But wait, that means... and that's.... but that's...! No way... You mean x is...!?
Tbh I love how this played during the opening statement in the part of case 5 where Apollo was accusing Athena instead of the usual court begins track that plays with a new witness.
True a bit a shame actually,Apollo’s game truth theme is probably the one I like less between all the truth themes because it’s like…TOO sad,no drama or epic And this instead is definitely my favorite or one of them ;.;
not my absolute favorite, but an amazing tell the truth theme which is MUCH more intense than the others. i mostly like the 8-bit ish soundtracks from games 1-4, but this song was meant to be orchestrated.
Most will say that this theme is bad, but have in ming that this plays only FIVE times in the whole game, while the previous ones were played so many times that it seemed that it was an objection/pursuit theme (in SoJ also plays in times where it should not), so aside of being epic this theme has its own merit.
I still feel like cases 4 and 5 should have been combined, I mean, wev'e seen cases that were way longer, and hey could have put in another case. A side case, that didn't necessarily tie in to the plot, like the tres bien case from T&T.
I only just realised that this track is very similar to confess the truth 2004, which is fitting i suppose since phoenix's objection theme is a remix of his 2004 one in this game
I wouldn't necessarily say that it makes it seem like a bad idea, but more in the sense that it's been long awaited and it can no longer be hidden, so they might as well reveal it.
The Truth Revealed 2001 is a variation on Cross Examination ~ Allegro 2001, and most Truth Revealed tracks follow the original's style, so it's only natural!
lol769 I know it is, but to me it just didn't sound as good and it didn't give me the same feel the Announce The Truth themes gave me from the other games in the series.
lol769 I like that it sounds more dramatic and tense, like it's SUPPOSED to, but it just has a few too many trumpets methinks. The organ and everything else is nice though :3
