In this video we install a new turbocharger on a LMM duramax. This is not a how to video, only a look into the day to day operations at my shop. --Check out my Instagram-- SketchyDA
Thank you for the video. I am a mechanic for the Air Force and was working on this vehicle, when I pulled out the documents saying to remove the transmission my supervisor didn't believe me! So I spend 2 days suffering, I'll show it to him
This really helped me understand where the turbo charger was and that i don't want to pull that out! My turbocharger apparently went out and i have let it sit now due to no time and money. Thanks for post this video. Really help. I really like how to incase i every have to do it my self. Again thanks.
I would love to see more of what you do everyday if possible, cause that way we can see all of the different types vehicles you work on. If filming is an issue, you can always get Hayden to assist you in that department and vise versa.
Definitely would like to see more of these videos. Most people that watch probably aren't even close enough to bring you their truck to work on so showing how to stuff shouldn't take business from you it would only help to grow your channel. Keep up the great work.
Awesome vid can't wait to see the race truck make a rip but seeing what comes through the shop for work I aslo vary interesting content I would love to see more!
I dont think you gonna loose customers if you make videos on how to fix stuff. There are so many channels already showing howto's and you still have customers. Thanks for the great content anyways :)
Welllllp, looks like bellatrix (my 08 duramax).... is going to go to a shop for a turbo replace. Im not much of a mechanic, and i didnt know it was this much of a pain to do 🥺 but thank you for showing the process! You saved me time and most likely money by showing me not to try it myself. Cuz id prolly break stuff. Lol
Wish air research was cooler about rebuild kits. Glad youve got a good rebuilder. I have no lie at least 40 of these llm/lmz turbo cores we can't rebuild cause we're just holset/Cummins rebuild plebs.
Good video. I used to think the same about showing how to videos. But the reality is not alot of people can or want to turn a wrench even if it saves them money.
I always took the passenger side cab mounts loose, jack up the cab, and stick 2x4s under the body mount. That gives you much better arm and hand access. Good option for someone that doesnt have the means of removing the trans.
I totally agree by what you mean biting the hand that feeds you, I have a lot of cheaper detailer guys that will take any kind of stuff I put out and use it to there advantage and steal my work. But sometimes there's enough work to go around for everyone but still snakes in the grass that will talk to ur customers. i like ur videos wish there was a way you could post more content maybe with the personal build will be fun.
I always preferred to lift the cab off. Over the years leaning over the the radiator support really took a toll on me. Gm service procedure is to remove the transmission though.
Daily vlogs kinda like the ones Hayden did would be cool. More of a day in the life type thing. It’d give the audience a better understanding of what it takes to do what you do. Not so much worried about one type of content. I’d like to just see more consistency even if it’s you riding dirt bikes to talking about stuff in general. I think I speak for a lot of us when I say this. We’d be happy with any content you think is worth uploading. Congrats on everything. Hope you continue to grow and have success in your ventures.
Bro i honastly think with your format and great vid quality diesel how to vids would do really good on here maybe just leave out any tricks you do and or just not show parts of it man im loving the vids lately
You give people just enough information to make them dangerous, lol. Meaning, when they start to work on their junk and break and strip out bolts you can just charge more. Win win!
Glad you showed it and it's not something I'm equipped to handle. Curious why the Turbo failed? I always try to let mine run after I've been pulling for a while. I fear coking of the bearings if I leave it heat soaked. Also, I have an LML now after 11 years with an LLY. So far I'm loving it but I've heard things about the CP4 failing and costing thousands to repair. Any advice on maintaining it? Thanks, Alan
Wyatt, curious as to why you pull trans instead of cab. Seems to me like you had yours off in same amount of time. I would imagine it would be much easier with the cab off.
i have an 97 isb300 in a RV with 15k miles that the turbo actuator has an intermittent check engine light. NO smoke just piss piss noise at idle. It goes away when i put on the engine brake at 30mph. I assume it needs a rebuild who should check with on that?
Curious what led to discovering the turbo was bad. Was it leaking oil before you pulled the hot side pipe? Just curious about what a novice might find, discover or look for. Thanks!
Is lifting the cab an option to do like on the Ford 6.0 & 6.4 ?.... pretty sure Ford knew the motors were crap so made the cab easy to remove.... more of the same too please... stay safe
I'm doing this job right now on my 2008 LMM - you went from timelapse messing with the exhaust to holding the turbo. I was looking to see how to get the front driver side turbo mount bolt out and how to unhook the oil lines. Not sure what this video is for ?? Kinda low on detail for someone actually working on a vehicle.
