This was a Drifters song that the lovely Dusty made all her own and sings it flawlessly !!!!! RIP beautiful Dusty !!!! You are definitely missed and will never be forgotten !!!!
This exemplifies her perfection and one of the many reasons Sir Elton John said she was the best white singer EVER! I AGREE! BEST on either side of the pond.
Her singing is as perfect as her diction and her ability to tell a story with every song that draws you into a full theatre performance but remains near always an understated masterpiece.
One of the most unique voices in music....ever! She could sing anything, with anyone, and that was long before computer enhancements, and other, so-called, state-of-the-art advancements. Anybody can sing and sell records today, whether or not he/she actually has any real talent. In Dusty's day, you proved yourself by standing still in front of a live mike and a live audience, and sang with all your heart and soul. She was the real thing. Rest in peace, Dusty.
Nothing comes close to this performance by Dusty and the trio of ladies! Love it everytime I listen. Her cool, smooth voice just feels like you're drinking the finest wine! And her beauty is over the top!
i reckon this fantastic woman is the best singer in the whole world ,,,,she was beautiful , her voice was second to none ,,,she can sing anything ,,,WOW ,,,,LOL TO ALL FANS
The emotions just ooze out of Dusty in this song. Heartbreak, loneliness, depression, and despair. Dusty just doesn't sing a song she lives it through her voice.
What a great performance so effortless and moving. Dusty was the best female singer the UK has ever had, a very touching performance of a beautiful song.
Right ! Did you know that Lesley Duncan was one of the wonderful voices in backing vocals in "Dark side of the moon" (1973)... A voice like that can't never be wrong !!!
One of my favourite BBC performances! God, she was a one off! We were lucky to have her unique voice and beauty for 59 years....I wish she were still here!
Spine-tingling, flawless performance. I've never heard her sound better, meaning I've never heard anyone sound better! She didn't just sing, she PERFORMED. I never tire of this video--many thanks for posting it.
Don't miss "Dusty Springfield: Once Upon a Time 1964 - 1969" if you don't already have it. It's a great DVD. A lot of clips from it are on YT. Disclaimer: I don't get a penny for advertising... I just love Dusty!
I think this song echoes the sentiments of all of us Dusty, the way we feel about you and no crankcase you're not mad just join the club my friend. Ray
Just discovered this fantastic song and Dusty's wonderful performance of it. She really was a great singer, probably one of the best ever. Superb interpretation of a majestic ballad.
One of our great singers saw her in Sydney at Chevron hotel back in 69 only just come across this song Dusty just great so much feeling I am sure we have lost family and friends and wish they would come back RIP Dusty hope your singing your heart out ❤
Love this! Many of her classic performances were never recorded for single release. She had a free reign to choose the material for her 60s BBC shows and wow, her talents are endless. Love you Dusty
Now, Now, mrrkdino no need for comparing. Adele is another 'blue eyed' soul singer. Adele is here to remind us that soul cannot be imitated - it is within. Its gr8 she is here. Mad love to Dusty - she paved the way for other British born singers to be taken seriously.
Sheer heaven, Dusty was a beautiful lady with a superb voice and incredible style who has finally received the recognition she deserves. My personal favourite is 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself', given to her by Burt Bacharach on a fleeting visit to New York, and Dionne had no problem with that as it was never going to be a single for her - unlike 'Anyone who 'ad an art', but let's not go there!
Well, if we live long enough, we all get old. But, we have many more memories (hopefully good ones) than our "less experienced" friends. Just think of the memories she must have of Dusty, the other girls, and all of the great music and great bands of the 60s. Plus, the added fact that she was a part of music history...there's a certain degree of immortality in that. Lesley Duncan will always be the "pretty girl with black hair" to those watching these historic clips.
I agree with both comments. But the fact is that great Britain is always backwards going forwards. .politically. .militarily.socialy..basically in every field. ..Dusty represented to me everything that women used to be like. .dignified. .feminine. .classy. .sadly lacking in today's modern females. .
Beautiful. plain and simple just Beautiful, her look and her voice at this particular time reminds me of Princess Diana.. she had an air about her which was and always will be truly amazing.
Wonder if Dusty realized they were going to do all those close ups ?! Thank god they did . They're beautiful shots. Really captures her style and beauty . I believe that is the locket they auctioned at Dusty Day in London a couple years ago. Thank goodness these videos are available for all of us to enjoy today.😘
Mad? I think not. I think it just shows good taste in my book. Dusty was the woman of my dreams for many, many years. There was something very special about her that was hard to describe. Beauty? Grace? Talent? Personality? I don't know what it was exactly, but she sure had it.
