Shu's entire story can be summarized in one word, and you and I both know exactly what it is. Say it with me: "BENEVOLENCE." --- (Please don't bully me, Koei)
The Shu army had defeated Wei at Wuzhang plains. The bravery and wisdom of Zhuge Liang's handpicked successor, Jiang Wei managed to overcome the cunning Sima Yi. However, Sima Yi was not content to simply fade into the suset with this defeat. And yet... Under the clear and starry night sky, Zhuge Liang believed. He believed, that even without him Shu would go on fighting Under the clear and starry night sky Zhuge Liang looked, and he saw. He saw Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, and other great souls, that had given their lives in search of peace
I prefer Cao Cao a lot more than Liu Bei but what is amazing about Liu Bei is that in the beginning without having any power or land of his own he would attract talented warriors like Guan Yu Zhang Fei Zhao Yun after Ma Chao Huang Zhong Wei Yan and strategists like Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong of the Invasion of Fan castle was a victory for Guan Yu then the kingdon of Wei would stand no chance against both Shu and Wu. I believe the battle of Yi ling after that gave Wei the chance to rest and recover
I see Liu Bei as very "human". He has a version, but through his journey he time & time again has to break his principles, because his vision simple cannot be fulfilled if he does not. Then the entire thing with the deaths of Guan Yu & Zhang Fei. We as humans would often loose sense of our priciple & loose sight of our goals, if something so personal & close to home happens. Many call him a hypocrite for that etc. But I just think it was a very "human" thing of him to do. If something like that happened to us to: Hearing that your brothers or siblings or just best friends, have being killed in a very visious manner, how would we react? not just as a normal indivuduel, but if had the means to fufill our need for revenge? Think the classic 2010 tv-show Three kingdoms does a BRILLIANT job of focusing on Liu Beis struggles though his journey & how it eventually breaks him down. Liu Bei is a very facinating individuel. Some also just claim, that he just said these things, but did not believe in it, but I tend to believe he did.
@@dragonblade-go6pe I can point to the tv-show "three kingdoms" from 2010, where it clearly shows its not that black & white. WU had being constantly insulted by Shu. Zhuge Liang had many times outwitted Zhou Yu(Zhou Yu is not innocent in that conflict). Guan Yu had also done it, Zhang Fei to. So the betrayal was a long time coming from many insults & disrespects etc. So yes, Sun Quan did backstab Liu Bei, but Liu Bei was a naive to think he eventually would not act.
@@Rackhark also, the land of Jing was borrowed and to be returned, Guan Yu refused. Wu didn't "betray" Shu, Shu got greedy and suffered the consequences. It's unfortunate, Shu storyline is always the most tragic but they brought it upon themselves
