So...let us all give Yoakam credit for bringing Mr. Owens out of retirement, for this wonderful performance...and (!) for having the great Flaco Jimenez on this one.
Hi Thomas how are you doing. I hope you are safe and in good health. I'm Patti from California, looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind, thank you.
As a Mexican American, it gives me goosebumps to see all the love Flaco Jimenez is getting in the comments! A true national treasure, FLACO! Congratulations on your recent 81st birthday on March 11, hope you had a great day full of love! May many more years fill your heart Flaco!
@@renemarschner9419 awesome, I've seen videos of Dwayne Verheyden, and he always pays homage to Flaco! I don't know exactly where he is from, but I think he is from one of the Scandinavian countries.
james lineberger great ! You should watch the Loretta Lynn interview where she bashes the crap out of the country music scene over the last 20 + years ! She says it’s not country nowadays and it hasn’t been for ages .
People don’t realize how close the country and norteño culture are. Banda music and country music has so much in common, and even our cultures. My family is from a small Pueblo in central Mexico in the state of Zacatecas, we have ranchers, cowboys and cowgirls, we love our cattle and horses, cowboy hats and boots, rodeos etc... I always like to find out similarities rather than differences
@jjgems5909 Interesting, my wife is from a ranchito that borders Durango/Zacatecas (San Jose de Reyes, Dgo.) about 30 kms east by ne of Juan Aldama, Zac. Good times, lots of ranchero, norteña music... I've always loved being there and felt at home.
So sad to see this type of music pass on with these great People also the passing of the Texas Tornadoes. I turn on the radio now and hear just plain old Crap. Fl;aco Was a National Hero! Sure do miss the Doug Sham music. I will not miss the Rap Crap we hear now that makes me want to go out back and Barf.
@@akalksander9184 the cycle of country music is funny. A new generation of artists comes along and the old generation of fans say it's not country while the new generation loves it, move forward and those artists are revered and the generation that loves them is now say the neglect generation of artists aren't true country. Happened to Waylon, Willie, and Coe. Then it was Sawyer Brown, Dwight, Alan, McGraw, and Garth. Now it's Wallen and Bryan.
Just when you think nothing can compete with the dulcet voice of Dwight, Buck comes through with that unique blast of genuine Bakersfield sound! OMG, it don't get no better than this . . . but they threw in Flacco Jimenez for good measure.
I'm not that big of a country fan but like Yoakum! I have the greatest hits, and have become hooked on this great tune. The live version with Buck is cool! Cheers !@
Buck Ownen is a country music legend and the king of the Bakersfield sound. With the the help of Dwight Yokem, this is as close as two white boys can get to Mexican Norteño. Muy bien hecho. Well done!
A style of Country Music that will never come again. It is no small wonder that the Ken Burns documentary on country music stopped In the 1990's. God bless Buck, Dwight, and Flaco.
Born and raised in Buffalo N.Y.'s East Side. Grew up w/rock and roll, and Motown. Wish I'd been a country music fan a little earlier in my life. I've learned in my old age that a lot of this country music is pretty dam good after all.. Very good song by these 2 men...
Same here , I went to high school late 70s I remember hearing some country songs but my interest was rock. About 2010 I started listening to country music and it was like a whole world was opened to me with the likes of Dwight waylon willie johnny cash Hank Jr George strait , well you know... That is some really good music there man.
I'm from Steveston (largest Salmon fishing port in the world) British Columbia, Canada; turned 16 in 1971 and I liked country music. I was an aspiring baseball player and could throw a stone from my hometown and hit south Vancouver. All drugs, violence and rock n roll. Never would I apologise or make excuses for diggin' country music.
One of the best parts of this performance to me is witnessing the beauty and joy of musicians bounce off each other, as Flacco and the lead guitarist are doing during their solo part.
I love it! I'm from Kentucky and appreciate home grown Dwight. Dwight worshipped Buck O . Why not? Buck was all that. Take care y'all. Peace for all y'all.
Kind Man. I am from the east coast of Canada and I consider myself fortunate to have seen Buck perform at the Crystal Palace in Bakersfield before he passed !
Soy Arizonense - casi Sonorense - and this Norteña music is OUR music, too. I love the concertina! We used to have a 2-man band visiting Nogales MX bars, peña-style, entertaining us as we demolished cahuamas of Mexican lager! THOSE were the days! Dwight does an amazing homage to Buck!
Descanse en paz señor Buck 🙏! You were great and you are missed. Now your walking the streets with the ALMIGHTY! Dwight and Flaco , we appreciate y’all !! 👌🏽🤘🏽✊🏽💪🏼👍🏼✌🏽
A wonderful piece of music. The joy on Buck's face as he performed brought tears to my eyes. Dwight, you sure know who to look up to in the music world. Thanks for writing and performing this jewel.
Actually Dwight didn't write Streets of Bakersfield, it was written by my cousin Homer Joy. In fact Buck Sang this song before he met Dwight. But Dwight has done a great job with this song. Streets of Bakersfield went platinum. My cousin Homer had the platinum record along with a picture of Him and Dwight each holding the record on either side.
Always loved listening to this song back in the early 90’s in high school drinking beer hanging out with friends in a small Texas town. I finally made my way to California and walked the streets of Bakersfield just to say I done it
a Tennessee boy and the dude that defined central California country music. I'm LA born and raised, 100% Latino, and IMO it don't get better than this. RIP, Buck!
Hi Bob how are you doing. I hope you are safe and in good health. I'm Patti from California, looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind, thank you.
thats pretty much my whole family besides my baby sis who has a psychology degree. Funny how she fucking loves me to death and calls me for advise lol. in my 46 yrs on this planet I have learned a few for sure things. People hate the truth, people hate people who are willing to tell them the truth regardless of feelings. The government is a business and we are their slaves. Most believe what they are told if they are told it enough (general media) and if the few with common sense and integrity do not shut down the liberals they will win and destroy the planet trying to "save it".
Great song. They did a great job and I'll bet they had a hell of a lot of fun while they were doing it. When you can have a good time doing what you love, well then it's not work anymore. You two are 2 of the best. RIP Buck
These days are gone. What a tremendous performance from these great talents. I raised my baby boys on this music. And now they're good men. Thsnk you Buck and Dwight!
Jodie Jones Not only do their voices blend but the the lyrics say so much. Especially in today's environment. Grew up listening to Buck Owens and love Dwight's voice.
Dwight Yoakam is the only artist I have in my music library that I can listen to for hours and not get tired of it within an hour. 😵💫 He has the most amazing voice. I’m not a die hard country fan. Don’t care for twangy music. Except for Dwight. He makes everything he does sound classical in a whole new cool way. If ya get me meaning. 😆❤️
DWIGHT KEEPS THIS MUSIC LIVING WITH BUCK OWENS THAT MADE THE SOUND FAMOUS AS HE TRAVELED ABOUT. LOVINGEST FLACO IS SHARING HIS GIFT IN ACCORDIAN SKILLS WITH EXTRA LOVE THAT PROMOTES JOY TO ALL . CINDI BALLER IN SAN ANTONE SAYS PARTY PEOPLE PARTY ON !2022 HOLLER !
Shucks! Surely miss Mr. Buck Owens the California Cowboy. Great performance. I felt Dwight's pain (still do) at the loss of Mr. Buck Owens. He was his hero. God needed him more. But thanks to RU-vid we can; relive, laugh and love classic moments like this one over and over again. Rest in peace Buck and Roy. Now, how about a Hee Haw SALUTE! from Glory for us?
To many, this is just a damned great song. To some of us who had no place else to go, during a particularly difficult time, Bakersfield is a very personal and very true song.
Too bad they have dirtbags like Kevin McCarthy and others like him that once lived there. 🤮 Not for much longer though... It's slowly coming to its senses and become more progressively awesome. Hey Nuno Bettencort (on the other comment to Lynda)... Nuno, you sound like you need to step away from the bong. You've inhaled way too much..
Dwight Yoakam!!!! One of my all time favourite artists. I’ve only been to 2 concerts in my life and it was him both times. The beer and his music go so good together!!!! Wooo
