great video, thanks for sharing. Must say "Sir" Dyson designs objects prone to break and purposely difficult to repair. For the price they ask, they should be ashamed.

Yeah In comparison to v8 this here is a mess. V8 is not driven to 120% of its potential and is easier to disasemble.

Thanks helped me repair mine. The v11 will likely be the last Dyson I buy. Great suction but making the critical parts from plastic is unacceptable for a vacuum in this price range. We're in our third floor motorhead as well.

Great!! Very good explanation! I don't understand how it is possible that Dyson sells (for a lot of money) a vacuum cleaner which collects the fine dust (e.g. vacuuming mattresses) in the machine and not in the filter. I had to send mine back three times in two years. Would never buy one again!!

Spot on, this is so poorly designed that it makes you wonder if it was incompetence or intentional.

According to the time scrubber, 5:55 seems to be the most viewed part of the video, where he successfully pops out the Left Vacuum Piece (LVP) from the Right Vacuum Piece (RVP) from the top-right hand side of that square hole belonging to the RVP. Here, he lifts part of the LVP up so that the RVP can be pulled away from the LVP, since they're both stuck together. For those of you who struggled like I did, I saw in another video of a different way of lifting the LVP. At 5:42 (pause right here), he says that "you can kinda work around...". Notice that his screwdriver is more on the top-left side. That's were I focus on first, and here we're gonna "work around" the square to pry the LVP off. Instead of going from above the square hole (where the guy's screwdriver is at), I go in underneath from the opening on the far left side of the LVP. I insert a LONG (enough) flathead screwdriver inside the vacuum underneath the upper white mesh/filter (the lighter grey area with a bunch of small holes for the air to suck in), entering from the opening on left side and sliding the flathead to the right. Because it's long enough, i have enough leverage to lift up and bend the light grey mesh up so that it is raised above the square part the OP is trying to lift from (he's doing it from the top-right side, but ur doing it from the left). When the LVP is raised enough, you can push and slide the flathead even further to the right so that it lays over the square area (which belongs to the RVP). Now you got a stable gap. Before following OP's directions to "kinda work around" the square to pry the LVP off, you could possibly try to pull the RVP off a little, ala 5:58. At this point it should be giving in Slightly. Idr if I did this, I was trying a bunch of things, but pulling it off a little might give the gap you've made more stable, idr. Keep pushing the flathead to the right, doing ur best to "work around" the square (also perhaps pulling on the RVP as I said above). OP might have this down to a science, but for me, I think I just kept pushing near the area he was pushing at and eventually the RVP gave. Hope this was helpful. Maybe look at 13:37 for some extra stuff.

Have dismantled and cleaned many vacuums for the church thrift shop where my wife volunteers and have for the most part succeeded however I will NEVER recommend a Dyson product for the reason the company makes it almost impossible for the regular guy to take them apart and clean them out. Of course the Dyson people want to sell more new stuff or make sure the customer hauls it to a Dyson repair shop. Am doing one right now and will get it done but I hate working on Dyson products. It's no wonder that so much of Dyson stuff gets donated or scrapped because it just needs a good cleaning.

Richard, great job sharing how to make this repair to a “plugged” Dyson. The step where you have to use the screw drivers to separate the two parts is what I call the “manufacturers’ required repair secrecy. I believe that manufacturers make their products in a way that you have to know what to do to complete a step in the repair process. Most people would get to the step where removing the screws would not allow you to separate the two parts. I found that inserting a flathead screwdriver beneath the opening and twisted upwards released the two units without damage to the surface. Try that next time you have a repair job for this unit. Dan

There was no loose or ability to remove. I don’t know exactly what I’m trying to accomplish. I have a V10 which doesn’t look exactly like yours. I had the right screwdrivers and followed this video almost exactly (I have two little screws I didn’t put back in somewhere in process accidentally) and boom! Sucker fires right up when I’m done. Very helpful video. However, even though the black wire usually means negative - which u say at 11:24 - at 9:42 it looks like black is supposed to be the positive, which is why there is a struggle at 15:16. I think this is also corroborated online elsewhere. So the order of your wires are right, and ur vacuum should work perfectly fine with black on left and white on right when they're both at 12 o'clock. It's just I think u put ur black clip upside down.

My SV12 base section has major cracks all the way round the trigger section and going down to the battery. I was really lucky to get the full section, the one you're holding at 3:10 plus a wall mount, plug and a battery in good health. I've wanted to set another charge point upstairs so it was well worth £19+9 delivery. Another purchase I'm pleased with is a electric air duster. Quick blast once a week for 2 minutes and lots of fine dust is removed. Two quick questions is it okay to always use the hoover at maximum power? Will it effect the battery or motor? There's a lot of heat produced at this setting. Also when cleaning is it okay to remove all the dust? I think Dyson said you need to leave it around gaskets for lubrication?

08:29 is probably the hardest bit to do and unfortunantly we can't really see what you are doing. I ended up totally mangling that socket because I can't see how it joins into the chassis. Honestly should have just snipped the wires and resoldered them together later. In fact I might do that anyway.

Thanks for the feedback! My camera skills have been steadily improving I think 😂 Not a bad idea on clipping the wires and resoldering if you’re comfortable doing that. @@jamiey1644 Difficult without photo...I fixed a thin metal piece (4cm/8mm) inside and at the end of the grey support, with a VERY little corner at its end, to replace the plastic corner and to get a Stop against the little red piece with white mark. Glued and added two little screws for security from the inside to the outside of the grey support, then screws cutted at the outside surface. Delicate but easy with good measures. Cannot be broken anymore and possible to separate the tank from the support if I push up the red piece... The original plastic corner is much too fragil if we slide the tank down too strong on this V10....deliberate??

@kenn1936
@kenn1936 Год назад
WOW!!! The is impressive ! I am having issues with my Dyson V11 Animal! First it said that the airways were blocked, so I tried everything, I even ordered screwdrivers (first two sets didn't work) I had two screwdrivers that worked fine, but they were not long reaching. I. eventually got a third set that would work - but the screws are solid - absolutely stuck!!! I then kept getting alerts that the filter needed cleaned and it was as clean as you can get, so I scrubbed it and left if for two days to dry, no chance - filter needed cleaned again. Then the "airway alert' came back on and told me to empty the canister and it was clean and washed out. I was round the bend by then, and a week had passed where I had to dig out my old vacuum, so when I thought it had fixed itself - the Dyson started to work again, but "airways blocked' came on if it was in boost feature, then FINALLY - the battery must have gone, as there was no charge whatsoever and I can't get it charged. Dyson say I have to get a new battery which is fine - £85 - £100 but here is the issue, I cannot open the Dyson and have been trying for weeks now.... so how do I fit the battery???? I do not want it to go into a repair shop or Dyson service place for a simple thing like changing the battery that would cost NOTHING if I could get the screws loose!! The issue with the Dyson screws is :- because it is fragile plastic you do not want to try and force the screws, I cannot even get them started, I have tried WD40, and I just cannot get them to budge. My Dyson is approx 3 years old and has no abuse. I have a one bedroom property and not excessively used. I find it has basically been a waste of money if I have to keep throwing £100 at it every other year for a battery.

nice, thank you so much. Mind at 9:29, my Dyson has the clamshell enveloped all around into a kind of rubber cover. You have to pull it gently outwards to reach the clip in the back.

My Dyson V11 absolute extra has an rubber ring sealing the basket at the very top. This ring is to be installed somewhere at the end of the process. Is there any chance you forgot to put on this ring on your V12? (which is practically identical to the v11 just mine has a screen at the top)

I’m not sure what seal you’re referring to exactly. Can you be more specific?

At the end of the process...perhaps do you mean the double ring between the first and the second tube...It's already in place before assembling , look at 20,25 mn.

Hey! - I followed this video and it was great! - The vacum is now totally clean after we goofed up and used it for construction dust (never again). BUT, the vacuum head is no longer spinning. My guess would be that i messed up the cables somehow (im guessing that those cables that we "take apart" and put back together are the ones actually driving the power to the pipe and head?). What would you recommend me doing here? Taking it apart again?

Yes. You probably got the wires installed incorrectly.

I have a continuous “airway blocked” message. I have tried everything except taking it apart. Do you suggest that’s the best next step?

Thank you for this great video. I'll admit, makes me a bit disappointed. No way I could do such a job as this. My vacuum has pulsing on boost, and no suction. I vacuum that metal mesh on the cyclone and tap the tip on the counter until no more dirt comes out, and it starts to work. But, I have had to do it almost every time I use the vacuum. I did a super thorough job two days ago, and I purchased a brand new OEM filter. But after seeing this video, and seeing how dirty the cyclone was, how much of it was effected, and the extent, I have a bad feeling it is time for me to get a new vacuum. You would think a vacuum of this price range would allow the end user to actually clean all the parts that come in contact with such dirt, such as the cyclones. Even cheaper vacuums allow this. So disappointing.

Be sure you check thoroughly for partial clogs. Maybe I’ll make a video on diagnosing a clogged v11

Thank you. I have done it all. I even took it apart. That is, the parts that's meant to be taken apart by the end user. It's shocking that a vacuum in this price range cannot be cleaned all the way by the end user :(@@richardsvacuumcenter
