Thanks! I have literally ripped my Dyson 44 apart. Cleaning everything possible. Still only ran about a min, then kept shutting off. I would wait a min or so and it would run again a few secs. I thought I had to bring to Dyson store, but I am doing what you did and used your link to order my type B battery. Thanks for the info!

Thank you for the good video on the Dyson battery change. On my DC44 Animal there is a light grey push button above the charging cable connector on the back. The button depresses quite a ways inward. Once the button is pressed all the way in the battery can be pulled downward and out. No screws to loosen and be removed. A dc voltmeter was connected to my battery terminals. There was zero voltage remaining in the battery. It is a little difficult to believe that there was no potential remaining. Assuming that the battery has internal resistance that consumed the potential while the DC44 sat on the shelf. Looking forward to receiving a new battery from Amazon and putting the DC44 back to work.

Excellent video, thank you. The charging light on the plug isn't coming on anymore - does this mean the charger needs replacing or could it be the battery? Last time the battery failed the light came on the charging plug momentarily, this time it doesn't come on at all.

Thanks so much! My DC44 Animal has new life after the Max stopped working a few months ago and the regular setting only lasting 5-10 mins. The second screw was a bit tricky to get out but I'm guessing that's just due to age.

Good video showing the two different battery types and removal! Unfortunately, a relatively new replacement battery for a DC35 Type B (better, 5000MAh much more use time than the original) won't charge as it was left discharged for several weeks, and the 20 sec trick doesn't work (the green led's only flash once and then don't, sometimes). Is there a trick of applying a higher voltage to wake it up type of thing and then be able to charge it properly?

Also on same model (DC44), the screw in front or where filter goes is often obscured by plastic tab and it not evident as in this video

Charger should have a green light on while charging. If the battery still has no power, it is the battery. If the green ligh doesn't come on, it is the charger.

Hello, do you know where i can find a spare motorised floor tool for the DC44 version? Later versions have a plastic insert in the middle of the pin socket that prevents me from inserting them into the vacuum cleaner.... Thanks!

I have a brand new Okeysen Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, 22KPa Powerful Suction 250W. It worked for a day and then just quit. It will work for about 5 seconds and shut off. There are 4 bars (lights) on the front which cascade flash while charging, but now they just all blink blue at once. Tried a new adapter, battery is new. I can't find anything online about this product!

You would have to use a voltage meter to test the voltage coming out of the battery to test and see the actual voltage matches the output labeled on the battery. It does sound like a low voltage issue and or a micro chip issue. Either way if it is new it should be covered under their warranty. But battery or the chip are my 2 guesses. And even new batteries can be bad.

My dc44 had brush problems I solved those. And it worked great. It went off after moderate use. I changed it and when I pushed the trigger the green light just flashed for a second but no action suction or brush. The battery was replaced a couple of years ago. When I unplugged the charger and plugged it in again it did the same thing the light just flashed. Any ideas?

Basically, but the battery itself is set up differently. So you need to match them. Switching cells is no fun and you crack the plastic case like crazy to get them out.

My Dyson dc44 animal vacuum has a plastic tab where the second screw is located. I don't want to force anything. Is there a way to remove it? Is it located somewhere else?

On my Dyson dc44 it does not have any screws to undo to replace the battery, nor does the battery have a or b marked on it. It has a grey button with a ⏬️ arrow on the handle which when pressed the battery pops out. It is also a type a battery so this bit of info is for anyone else who found this when they went to change the battery pack & was a little stumped. Great video btw, thank you.

It will show green until fully charged on most models.

ive been scouring for dc44 repair videos- ours shows no life at all now. wont charge, no lights. measuring the battery voltage though reads a good 22v ish. the switch operates continuity fine, and motor contacts have continuity. Can the battery voltage read fine, but still cause a non functioning vacuum? wish someone nearby had a spare battery to test! thanks :)

Yes, just like a car battery, unless you have a good starting voltage, it will not be enough to "kick" on, through the onboard CPU it needs a min amount of voltage. These batteries and vacuums run in a very narrow margin of current. A new battery will do the trick for you! Good luck and be safe out there!

So we bought a new battery and that seemed to fix it but same day the light on the plug unit that goes into walk socket isn’t coming on to reflect that it’s charging. Any ideas? The vacuum currently isn’t working so it’s because it’s fully charged. Dead as a dodo….

Chargers do fail too, but put the old battery back in and see if the charger comes on. If not the charger obviously died too. If the charger does come on, it could have been a defective replacement battery, which can happen... but would be the first I've heard/seen in a long while.

What if the green light comes on but does not start? If I keep pulling the start trigger many times, it sometimes starts for a few seconds and then stops. If it is just the battery I'll buy a replacement, but if it is the motor I don't want to waste the money.

If you have a multi meter you can test the out put voltage of the battery, if it is low, it obviously will be the battery. You can always buy the battery and return it...

While pushing the release button, get something like a butter knife and gently pry the lid/cover open, but make sure you are putting downward pressure on the release switch at the same time. The release mechanism at the bottom can get clogged with dirty... make sure you clean that area with "can air" or some sort of compressed air.

When you switch it back to regular mode after cutting out, does it work again or dead at that point? But that is a typical sign of a weakening battery.

Many of these have anti-tampering torx screw so you’ll need a special screwdriver set to remove the screws. My normal torx screwdrivers didn’t work. Just be mindful of this.

Sometimes the plastic sticks on them... do you have pick tool? Or real skinny small flat head screw driver to kind of pry at it.

Check to make sure the power cable is making s good connection, does the charger show it is "charging" or showing it is charged?

@@kelleher2 try this, 1. Unplug your charger, wait 3 seconds. Plug it back in, connect the vacuum to the charger and then hold the trigger for over 20 seconds. Let the trigger go and let it charge until the lights go off. Then it should be okay again.
