Sorry this episode took so long, I didnt plan well enough over the New Years break for parts and I work part time in the retail industry, I had to work and cover extra shifts. Fill, if your going to have spot welds visible they need to have a purpose. Absolutely love this build, the trial and error, and the run of successes make this so much fun to watch

Hi, I have seen body shops use metal self tapers screws to hold or pin panels in place to make sure all gaps panels fit perfectly 👌 before welding it all in.

I actually love these longer videos! Man once this is done, the feeling must be extremely rewarding. I think it’s already rewarding already as you see the incredible progress thus far! The “camera died” prompts in the theme of Dark Souls made me laugh a bunch ahhaha.

Fill! I hate body work as much as the next guy, but man is it worth it when everything is said and done. Otherwise those spots will stick out to you like a sore thumb.

The late 80s early 90s Rodeo have a need top rail that incorporates hooks for Tie downs. Maybe cut the rail off a tub. I know you want a sleek look with a curve but a practical ute might be more useful?

Leave the spot welds. If you fill them, and actually use the bed you run the danger of gauging the filler. Hi from the UK. I’ve just found your channel and have binge watched the entire playlist.

Leave.... A Ute is a workhorse NO question and besides factory details count makes it look original and like you said if no one has seen the video no one is the wiser. Great job by the way the E30 M3 Ute is looking fantastic so far can not wait till it is finished.

Leave the spot welds. If you try to make it too show car, you may never be happy enough with the results to call it done, and then you won't be able to actually enjoy it. I also think you're 100% spot on with needing to have just a bit of subtle curve on the top of the quarters. Keep it up mate. Loving what you're doing so far!

Yeah I definitely worry about “scope creep” and the spot weld is the first step down that rabbit hole. I was super happy when I realised about the slight curve

Fill, not to make it a show car but to not have to strip and fill and paint if you do decide it's a show car later on. Also you should sell the shirts - I'd buy one.

Leave. I feel the spot welds in the tray blend the oem+ feels of the car and gives you something raw to look at. Can always smooth them out later if you revisit during paint.

Leave them. I love the E30 and love UTE’s so an E30 UTE is awesome. We’ve got a company in the US named Smyth Performance that makes UTE kits for several cars like the Jetta and the Subaru WRX. I’m getting ready for order a VW Jetta MK4 UTE kit from them. You should make a shirt with an image of the E30 UTE on the back.

I don’t have an opinion on fill or leave haha… I’m more inclined to leave, and then bed liner. Maybe in the future if you need to fix something, it might be easier to spot them later and drill them out.

Leave the spot welds. You've already put in so much effort to look stock. Show car would need alot of changes. People who really know cars are just as impressed with a custom that looks stock, as a full custom because they know the extra effort it takes.

I think leave the spot welds, if you fill them i think you need to make the decision to fill all of them on the car. Then what else needs to be done if your going that far? Shaved bay, hidden wiring. Where will it stop?
