EA’s Anti-Cheat Update Messed Up PvZ: GW2 (Here's Everything You Need To Know)

i expected the update to be bad, but BANNING anyone who criticises it from the EA server is insane. I noticed they closed the PvZ thread there too so that sucks

Popcap really is just a shell of its former self, this update made me sad and just sad to see the downward spiral of PvZ, jeez this sucks.

Shoutout to EA for making an Anticheat that makes my game unplayable on my low end PC and removing my only means to play the game with the anticheat now

As a steam deck player that had this game on it it’s so sad for me to see that I can’t play the game anymore until they either remove the anti cheat or switch it to something the steam deck can support and also know that the anti cheat just sucks and is useless, truly hurts me it’s so stupid

Hey, I'm the guy at 2:59 and here to post the entire story I searched around and found a Spanish tweet with a link to the discord server and I joined it to complain about the faulty anticheat, I looked back on some messages and saw the community manager was replying with the same AI generated message. Anyways he muted me after I complained. Another inncident was with a man I didnt like, he is a moderator on the frostbite discord server (he is also a really shitty one) but regardless of my opinions the actions against him where stupid, He sent a link to a video of the anticheat being broken in 5 minutes and that message was deleted. Looking there right now I see the Community Manager saying the SAME DAMN SHIT. I'm fucking done.

They spent months on this and used it as a reason to not fix the portal rotation and this is what we got. Holy _*.! Why is being a pvz fan nothing but pain now? It's actually crazy watching the forums and subreddit react to this in real time. Pvz equivalent of watching the hindenburg crash at this rate.

This game has an indirect civil war going on.

The only thing this update did is make modding require frosty fix to bypass the anti-cheat and also add lag. This update literally does nothing Also, the EA server moderators are manbabies.

For some reason after they added this update, it won't let me launch the game no matter what I do. I've tried verifying my files, uninstalling and reinstalling but still nothing works..

how hard would it even be to make a PVZ1 remaster. It would make genuine millions if done well and it'd revive the fanbase and boost sales of EVERYTHING PVZ RELATED. I dont get why theyre smashing their head into a brick wall with PVZ3 and PVZ2 seediums when the successful route is so obvious

Its not an anticheat, it's a data collector, you telling me a software that runs in the PC Kernel and connects to their servers wouldn't be stealing your data in the day and age where its common practice?

Hy can you help me? After the update I can no longer play any multiplayer matches in the portal… I have uninstalled any mods I had and even reinstalled the game it self but nothing works… any ideas as to why this is happening?

Honestly it's sad. My friends and I were so hyped for this hoping it would at least make the game playable but cheaters still are a problem and its kinda sad there might not be a fix coming anymore bc I doubt they'll find a way to fix this. I tried to stay positive but it's hard. I would unironically redownload BFN...if people actually played it bc I never find lobbies aside from giddy park.

Everything new this update: A loading screen that can be changed. Removed the ability to play old versions of the game. Made modding a slight bit harder. Added a brick wall to try and fix the banning exploit, sadly they climbed over that wall in about 5 minutes. Changes are yet to be made, stay tuned.

I can’t believe all this bull crap started a year ago a year ago I’m surprised EA has it been sued yet

So basically, the particular way it failed to block hacks is just. Incredible. Like it's genuinely funny to me that they failed so specifically: All it does is prevent the game from working when certain other apps are running (as shown), and prevent Frosty Mod Loader from booting the game. If you have another way to load mods without downgrading, you can use any of them - including those that might affect gameplay for other players - entirely online without it being blocked, and that's how "skids" are getting their hacks online already. The biggest drawback is that naturally skids aren't charing the info they have with legitimate modders so we still have the most dedicated skids doing skid stuff, while also not being able to use graphical mods whatsoever. This game doesn't feel the same without vivid warfare/GW1 plasma :/ Also I went from a range of 30-80fps to 25ish-55ish fps after the update. For me, it's not lagging more, it's just less fast.

ea actually has to undo this update, i would rather the occational exploding yeti running around a turf takeover rather than my game have a 50% chance of crashing everytime i load into the backyard, or even launching the fucking game i'm something of a modder myself (not the toxic kind) and i enjoy messing around in the backyard with whatever i can throw together in the frosty editor the anti cheat ruins not only the functionality of the original game, but also the friendly modders like me i'm hoping they roll back to the last version or just release a new update that removes the anti cheat sure hackers would be running rapid, but atleast i'll won't get killed running 30 frames per second we also have skid hunters that go after toxic modders so. Edit: also ea is wild for silencing anyone who brings up pvz in their discord

I play on Steam Deck, my Desktop died and even if it didn't it would be difficult to sit at a desk due to muscle problems. I see the game is on sale, Steam says the game is playable on Steam Deck, I bought it, downloaded it and launched it. I went through the EA Launcher just fine and when the game should start it didn't, wine not supported. I tried every proton version I could, even the bleeding edge build for proton experimental but nothing. I thought I must be stupid since it has the playable badge on Steam, I looked around and found that they added kernel level anticheat that removes support for SteamOS and I assume Linux in general. Great, just great. Anyway good luck with your wisdom teeth, hopefully you're feeling better.

Unrelated thing but if games by EA (I am going to use Pvz2 as an example) Can get a 2000$ pc to Fucking 10 frames per second You know something is wrong It happens a lot to me too because of all the Zombies and Projectiles on the screen, BFN TOO LOADS LIKE SHIT WITH THIS PC! Playing is crispy and smooth but the fastest Loading Screen I got was like a minute!

Well I can now officially say that each shooter has one huge problem each. Gw1 has proably a lack of players Gw2 has a hacking problem And bfn suffers from toxicity. I mean ya sure all of them proably have hacking but it’s proably not really as bad cause well skids don’t really got a huge purpose in doing so. More popular pc Pvz players usually play gw2 and the skids at this point just want to ruin it/kill it off for attention. I mean anyone that try’s to make content off gw2 for a living on pc isn’t going to work anymore sadly cause of this big target.

i kinda hope for soon gw2 server shut down cuz if it's get's shutted down anti cheat isn't gonna be connected and people can host their own servers

I hate to say this, but I don't think anything can be done with garden warfare 2 on PC. Do you want to play pvz gw2 quietly? Play it on Xbox or Playstation, it's the only way to play the game without skids.
