Hey Dr Glaucomflecken! I'm Tom, the med student who greeted you with a Jonathan nod at FMA. Thank you for a wonderful speech at that FMA luncheon and for graciously lending Jonathan's soul to my photo with you! Still can't believe that I met you irl ❤

As someone whose dog has started having seizures and wanted to be a vet, my heart goes out to you. Owning a dog can definitely lead to your darkest days, you raise them and you will outlive them and it’s heartbreaking. Also, dog diarrhea is essentially biological warfare. I’m glad you survived and Im glad your dog is doing well! Also dr k is amazing!!!

Your hook for veterinarians is the pediatrician takes his dog to the vet. Companion animal vets practice the most similar to pediatricians. They use many of the same medicines. BTW, I am a clinical veterinary microbiologist that works for an animal health company. I have worked in antibacterial discovery for over 30 years in both human and veterinary medicine. I was on the team that delivered linezolid to market in 2000. I participated in the FDA advisory panel meeting. I would like to see you do an episode on the placebo effect.

I would think that it would start out with the vet acting similarly to the pediatrician, then as the appointment continues the vet keeps putting on all of the different hats/glasses/bowties/etc. and changing personalities as they perform different diagnostics(ie radiographs, analyzing blood work values, ECG, fecal analysis, etc). They keep insisting they're a different person each time, but it's blatantly obvious they're just changing their outfit. The video ends with the vet putting on a surgical cap and taking the patient into surgery. Pediatrics tells the vet that they can't be a surgeon and an anesthesiologist at the same time, and the vet replies, "Don't be ridiculous, all anesthesiology is done by Janethan." Cut to the vet tech in the corner, who puts on anesthesiology's cap and gives a Jonathan Nod TM.

It IS really important that Dr. G often makes his comedy into biting, TRUTHFUL social commentary because we are failing disastrously at U.S. healthcare. Comedy makes it palatable. IT'S ESSENTIAL. More effective than almost any other approach. Drs, patients are suffering. System must change.

If you take your family medicine doctor and squish it together with your rural medicine doctor, you have a vet. We do it all, on a shoestring budget with patients that hate us.

Hi! Just started watching this but I have advice for the dog with diarrhea! When my poor boy had bad diarrhea I just walked him hourly when I was up. I'm lucky that he knows to wake me or my roommate up at nights so we didn't have many accidents and I took all the rugs out as soon as I realized this diarrhea wasn't just normal diarrhea. Needed to go to the vet at day 4...

Solid point Lady Glaucomflecken…like Dr. Rajan, I once scoffed @ social influencers…then (me personally) later again @ physician social influencers. That has since changed. We have such misinformation in the health and wellness space on social media. That being said, there is a huge void needed to be filled. I support the idea we need more physicians/ health care providers pumping out accurate, engaging, high value content for the public. The dilemma for me is and always will be navigating being a practicing physician scientist/ educator vs physician influencer. Both are full-time jobs in themselves. I guess follow your passion? Regardless, I appreciate the content you guys provide. Strong work.

I've been watching this guy's shorts daily on my frontpage lately. Just very fascinating trivia, sometimes useful information too. And funny things as well. I'd assume being recognized from social media and educating and making comedy, the patients probably mostly feel sort of trust because they "know" your person and what you do, they're familiar with the person who's treating or dealing with them. In Finland you'd call the barbie butt syndrome a momin syndrome 100%. People already make jokes about how momins are big tummied because they have no buttholes. Also my butt sense started tingling when watching this video. And to make a note, the urologist skit already pointed it out, but men will do about anything to their penis, so leeches on penis is probably not the worst thing. The maggot treatment for the dead skin of burned patient in House was so cool. It made them seem very efficient and clean, better than using hours of surgeon focus on removing every small bit.

I know you already know about pumpkin bland diet and have probably taken him to the vet to see if it’s giardia or something similar, but I also have found it helpful to not feed for a certain period of time before restarting food with the bland diet and pumpkin, I don’t know how it works but a period of fasting really does seem to make a difference in shortening the length of time you have diarrhea for.

My experience with the term "eargasm" was always in the context of just i guess melting or euphoria from hearing some mindblowing excellent music, so this is new to me I do get a weird spine wiggly feeling from using earplugs, but it's a bad feeling, like something crawling down the inside of my spine

Sorry for my critical comments, but your character acting is OUTSTANDING. ANd you so accurately depict working in the medical field, and I feel smart because I know what ur talking about. If you do a vet, you will alienate your followers. Don't. Do more ID when he is being cool and saving the day.

What kind of stinks, doc is that you do sketches on hospitals selling-out and making decisions based on what is best for their wallets rather than patient care, but here you are selling merch now, and doing all of these interviews and podcasts and appearances instead of doing the funny sketches that brought you all of your fans/subscribers in the first place with content that made us all crack up. I hate to see this happen with RU-vidrs where they have the greatest content, then they go viral, and next comes the merch, and posting less and less and selling more. Spin-offs like this happen as well. I'm bummed out. I miss the funny sketches. P.S. Sorry for the longest and most awkward sentences, ever.
