Hey Matt! Nice video. I'm considering one of these for my home garage. I have an 240V receptacle available that used to used for a dryer. It has a 30A breaker on it, do you think that would be sufficient? I know the website says the full load amps are 17, but was curious if a 30A breaker would be sufficient for start up surge? Any insight is appreciated, what electric setup are you running?

Can you tell me what type of oil it uses? Not interested in paying $15 a quart plus another $15 shipping from Eastwood. Also I'd recommend anybody that buys one of these pull the cover and go over every fitting. Over half of mine were probably only finger tight.

Hi Matt, Just secured one of these at the Pottstown store, under the influence of this RU-vid. You said you were moving it around the shop, so just wondering if you were using a 10 gauge "extension cord" or something heavier due to the extended length (in the event you are still reading these responses). Thanks for bringing us this channel too.......

I was very interested in this unit when it was first announced, but it was delayed for nearly a year. when I first talked to Eastwood about one, they said it was going to cost under $1000. then it was $999 preorder and they were sold out for months and not taking any more orders. then it was $1200 with a $200 rebate and again sold out for months. now they are $1500 strait up. so I am a little disappointed in the pricing and availability. granted its better priced than any other scroll compressor on the market, however all the other scroll compressors on the market are professional grade units, like Kaeser, Ingersoll Rand or Atlas Copco. additionally, you can get a 60gal professional grade piston compressor from Quincy with better specs for $1300 (QT54). and it has a better warranty, and its 100% made in the USA. unlike the Eastwood QST, which is made overseas. Additionally I have read that some of QST30/60's have had oil leakage problems. I don't know if Eastwood has solved that issue yet or not. don't get me wrong, i was impressed with the QST30/60, but I think it is over priced, considering that its make in China\Taiwan and the specs don't out perform a good quality compressor like the 60 gal Quincy qt54, but it is better than the rebranded Campbell-Hausefeld 60 gal compressors sold by Lowes, Home Depot and Sears. however, the rebranded CH compressors are only around $520 dollars. which is about a 1/3 the cost of the Eastwood unit. if the QST30/60 had come in around $800-$1000, it would be worth it, but it is way over priced at $1500, all things considered.

Is my Elite QST-30/60 a money pit or the limited knowledge base of Eastwood technical support making it look that way? The questionable quality control is the least of my problem. I am not saying that I am okay with poor quality either, it is not the “big Dog” I have to fight on this The Elite QST-30/60. I do not care if it is made in China or somewhere else; but, it must be QC properly to be passed off as a premium product. Because of the small issues with this compressor, it appears QC issues are there. No matter, I wanted the “QUIETER” compressor. Right? So I bought the "Elite QST-30/60 ". it is definitely Chinese made with QC issues. And the Elite QST-30/60 is quieter than and maybe as efficient as my “Old-dog”, Schulz/175 psi /20 cfm. But because of Eastwood's so-called technical experts’ limited knowledge of their products, the “Mr. QUIETER” sitting in a corner in the shop and my “Old-dog” is barking and making good sweet noise. Mannnhh, I am loving the noise he makes, because things are getting done and I am earning my bread..

Why does it blow Off like that? Can you turn down the psi to avoid that ?
@IronTrapGarage

That blow off is the pressure leaving the compressor once it reaches 150 psi. It does so for when it restarts there isn't pressure in the pump. Majority of compressors do this. Thanks for watching!! -Mike/ITG

It would be smart to piggyback a larger tank so your not constantly have to compressor come on .. which will increase your power bill and ultimately wear out the Eastwood compressor !
@melgross
@melgross 4 года назад
Brandon Carter actually, the power bill will be the same. The time it takes to fill the larger extra tank equals the turn on time for the smaller tank in use. So there’s no overall difference, just shorter turn on more often compared to longer turn on time less often. The amount of air to be delivered is the same, remember, so the total turn on time needs to be the same.
@carsonmcnamer5321
@carsonmcnamer5321 3 года назад
You won’t see a difference in your power bill and it has a 100% duty cycle. You can run the thing and it doesn’t need a break

How much oil does it consume and how often? Is it like a screw compressor that eats oil and is regularly added? So unlike a screw compressor constant starts and stops do not hurt this type of compressor? Thanks for any feedback..
@IronTrapGarage
@IronTrapGarage 6 лет назад
The compressor maintenance schedule calls for an oil change once a year. It doesn't consume oil from what I've come across. This compressor has been designed to work well in a home shop and can handle stopping and starting regularly as well as running constantly. I've been putting it through its paces and it seems to be humming along just fine! -Matt/ITG

Don’t take this the wrong way but the warranty seems shitty. Why only a one year warranty and then a major up charge to extend it? My thinking is if it’s quality built the company should stand behind it. One year is not standing behind it. This should be a five year warranty!
@mechanickb4350
@mechanickb4350 2 года назад
This is also my MAIN concern. I'm so close to pulling the trigger on this but I am skeptical of the warranty. I'm thinking about getting it anyway. The amp draw, the noise level and the decent CFM has me pretty much sold on it. I do really wish Eastwood would stand behind it more than a year though. Quincy and even TSC give you cheaper extended warranties on their products. It's a lot of money to gamble on. But chances are most issues are going to rear their head up before the year is out. Hopefully.
@Yankeeprepperasshat
@Yankeeprepperasshat 3 года назад
I can’t find scroll compressors with any significant cfm. Is that because scroll compressors suck at producing any quantity of air? Screw compressors can make hundreds, even thousands of cfm no problem.

$250 flat rate shipping for motor freight is an absolute rip-off ("hidden" margin increaser) for most locations in 2021. Either their chosen carrier partner is ripping of Eastwood, or Eastwood is ripping us off, I really don't care which because when I discovered that, it killed the purchase I was almost going to make. I prefer to do business with honest and fare-handed companies. I'm not interested in subsidizing some other customer who is more expensive to deliver to! When companies deviate from the business practices of everyone else in the industry, then either they are innovating (no sign of that in this case) or they are cheating/stealing. Ain't no other options when I can ship over a thousand pounds by motor freight for around $200. This compressor weighs 325 pounds. I'm kinda pissed off now, because I've been looking everywhere for this exact sort of product, I finally found it, I was all set to purchase, and then I started spotting all sorts of shady stuff that makes me think Eastwood isn't someone I want to do business with. Sucks to be me, I guess. Eastwood won't care about losing one sale even after I blog about it, I suppose.
