The reason for asking is I have an Hitachi tv with 7 blinking lights, I did a board replacement and its still doing it, the board is a Vestel 171PS20 and since Mapling's closed over here its been hard to get components of the shelf.... cheers Joe

Hi, I have a 40w5500, when I turn on my tv, I have 13 red flashes (one time) and after 14 red flashes. I unplugged the t-con like on your video I power on my tv and I have the same error (13 red flashes and14 red flashes). It means that is the lcd panel ?

Thank you for posting such informative videos. There is so much garbage being posted on RU-vid and it's nice to find logical/intelligible information.I have a Sony KDL-52NX800 tv which works fine at cold startup. Once it is warmed up, vertical lines begin to appear and/or the image begins to scramble. Audio is fine and all inputs have been tested and seem to work. Any ideas please? Based on what I've viewed with your videos, could it be the T-Con board?Thank you in advance!!

Great video - I have a couple of questions. My Bravia has a line going down the right side of the picture, I believe it's the T-CON board or a ribbon based on the research I've done thus far - thoughts? Also, when you say "heat sync grease" are you talking about thermal compound? I ask because I've pasted GPUs/CPUs before and I've never added compound on the pads/heat sink themselves, its always been chip/heat sink; any reason why you wouldn't simply remove the pads and use the compound between the chips and what appears to be the heat sink? If it is the ribbon, how do you go about removing it and troubleshooting what ribbon it is?

Hey, Have you ever encountered a solid red light (no blinking) , no picture and power clicks on and off every few seconds repeatedly for this model. I haven't found any bad caps. The power stops resetting when the main board is disconnected but the indicator light is disabled so, I can't tell if this causes a normal startup. Any advice would be appreciated before I gamble on which board to replace.

hey TT your vids helped me buy & install a power board in my kdl52w3000 bravia a few years ago. Since then it has played great but now the screen runs for a second & screen blacks out with the green light going away & the red light blinking ONCE. Is this issue still the T-con or TUU ( tuner? ) it started when I was reprogramming my antenna channels. Thanks

Thanks for the vid. I'm having issues with my sony kdl 52w4100. When the tv first turns on the bottom third would flicker. It would correct itself after being on for a few minutes. I read online it could be the inverter or tube. Do you have any vids on this? I tried looking but didn't see. If not could you make one. Thanks.

First, thank you very much, you are awesome!! Sony kdl 46ex710, no pic, 3 blinking red lights, had a short in my mains power, direct tv box the hdmi is dead but RGB still works. I'm thinking power supply, maybe the main board too? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!

Hey dude really enjoy your vids. I have a kdl50 which is blinking 3 times after power surge. Replaced both tuner and main board with no luck. When I disconnect power board from main board the display lights up. Not sure what else I need to do. Any advice?

Hello, I have a Sony KDL-55W802A and I have a no power issue(no LEDs either). The power supply has standby 3.3v but the mainboard evidently isn't returning 3.3v to the PS. If I use a jumper on "Power On" and "AC OFF DET" I get 12v on all 12v rails so I assume the PS is ok. Is there a way to determine if the mainboard is the problem before I purchase a board, potentially needlessly? Or should I look further into the power supply? I'd really appreciate the help, thanks for your time!

Do you know if the Sony KDS SXRD's A3000's use the same blinking codes and colors? I know someone with a RED LED that blinks 5 times, pauses, then repeats. No sound and no picture, so no way to go into the menu and do a reset. Lamp has about 2000 hours on it. Any ideas would be great. I read that on the A2000's it means its a Lamp Ballast, but I'm not sure.

Hello, Tampatec! I have a KDL-60w850b with a 4 red led blink error code. I changed the LD board and I am still getting the code. When the TV turns on (few seconds before shutting off) I see that the screen looks normal and no issues with black areas or apparent visible LED backlight faults. Any ideas I could try? Do you think this has to do with the main board? Thank you so much for all you do!!

Son of a TV tech has real stumper! Hi Paul ! Been a big fan for years and now I have an issue or maybe 2... 12 year old Sony KDL55EX720 with amazing picture. Not a smart TV but I love this set. This morning I was getting ALTERNATING red and green flashing lights. Same thing happened about a year ago. Sometimes the green light would stay on longer and prodiced a picture but only for a few minutes. an hour later I tried to bypass the tcon board, but because it was configured differently, I was not absolutely sure I was disconnecting the same wires as you. In addition the heat sink was more like a shield design and board was at bottom of of chassis. So, when I disconnected the 2 wire connectors the set just acted the same as before. I reassembled and powered it up again. Red and green lights alternating but stayed green long enough for me to attempt factory reset. Now red stays on much longer than green but continues to alternate. Green comes on with picture and displays initial setup protocol. Wierd thing is when I press the right side button on remote to select language, picture immediately shuts down and red light comes on. It will stay red with no picture, then if I press power green comes back on with select language set up. It will remain that way until I press right or select. So the problem has morphed from an ongoing alternating blink to an inability to stay green with picture when the remote seems to steal its life force! My Dad was a TV tech since learning electronics in the Air Force in 1959 and eventually owning his own shop. He's a big fan of yours and I sure would like to call him and let him know how you helped me figure this one out. Thanks for all you do for the community in an informative yet inspiring way! DB

Hi there. I wonder if you can help me. I have a Sony 46S2010. The standby led flashes twice. Everything i read states a bad power supply board. I got replacement one on ebay and still has the same issue. Just just tried your t-con test and i have the same problem. What can i do to test if the power supply is good? There are three connectors besides the mains. Can i remove one connector at a time to see if there is something wrong down stream of the power supply? Thank you Paul

Hi i have the exact TV you are working on i think KDL46w5500... and same issue. 14 blinking lights then shuts down. i get audio but no video.i have unplugged the T-con board and put in power but still get same issue.... does this mean it might be something else? like dead LCDis tehre anyway of checking the LCD?

Hello- your videos are awesome and I fixed one Tv already but ha I gotta a problem with another tv. It is a Sony xbr65x810c. I press the power button and the led light on front comes on for 2 seconds and turns off. When I try to press power again it won’t do anything. If I unplug and try again it will do the same thing once and then nothing. I replaced the power supply with a used replacement on eBay but was wondering if you have any other ideas. Thank you.

xbr49x950h changed backlights they all work now but see them flickering a little when turn set on 3 leds were bad not lighting on 1 row originally, but set still shuts down 3 blink error. The set comes on fine see picture for about 20 seconds shuts off also still have red 3 blinks on local dimming board am i forgetting to clear something ? these sonys will drive a tech crazy lol thanks for any input if i unplugs lvds cables the backlights will stay on Joe appreciate any help!

Hey Tampatec, I have a Sony Wega kdfe60a20 in which i happened to change out and lcd panel because it had blue dots on the screen and a yellow stain on the left hand side. Well, after finishing the procedure on the optical block, I reassembled the tv, plugged it in, turned it on, only to be met with a total white screen. No sound, no picture. Can you help?

Hello, I have a Sony KDL-32M130. The green LED always stays on but when I turn on the TV, the SONY emblem appears, then shuts off. 4 seconds later it seems as though the TV screen is on and I can scroll through the Menu or Inputs for about 2 seconds and then it goes off forever. If I'm quick enough to scroll and select an input I notice I can still get sound from my bluray player. Do you think it's the Main Board or the Tcon? Thanks so much!

Hi, Tampatec. I have a Sony KDL-65W850C that was flashing red 6 times. After unplugging and plugging it back in, it would flash the Sony logo real quick, then turn off and start the flashing sequence. I know that 6 flashes is supposed to be main board, power board or inverter board. But, when I unplugged the ribbon cable from the T Con board, the indicator light would stay white instead of changing to flashing red. Could the T Con board be the problem? Thanks, Jeff Marr

Any help with 10 flashing red led’s on KDL-40W5100? We had a quick power outage(5-10 sec.) and “poof!” Out it went! Did all the simple fixes and hard re-start with no luck. Did the unplug of T-con,nope! Took out main power board and it look like it’s been lightly scorched or hot. Main Logic board looks fine all capacitors look fine and my volt tester leads are too big to get between wire and socket clips to get any reading. Any help with this from anybody would be awesome. And can’t find that board number to get new one at all. Am I screwed on this one? Thanx’ guys! Erik

I have a Bravia KDL-40v2500. When I turn it on the light is green for a couple seconds and then blinks red. I took the tcon bd off circuit as you showed and the tv stayed on green. Do you use the grey pads because of the heat sync only or should I use them also? I have two metal covers but no heat sync. Thanks for your videos - they really help!

hey tampatec , quick ? what if I have a sony kdl40w-4100 with power, just turns on, goes to setup . then during setup it goes through the channel setup and then restarts to the no signal screen with a snowy screen but no sound. I have a kdl-46nx720, used to blink (maybe 7 times, not sure) now no blinking light, i checked standby on bower board and it's 3.3v, not sure if I should order a batl board, I'm not sure how to test it but they only time something changed was when I unplug the batl board the relay on the power board clicks the same as when I unplugged it from the wall, any guidance would be greatly appreciated, thanks

i found a 46NX8000 bravia one day, checked your codes and found out the the lcd panel is bad or shorted internally. Could the other boards be GOOD and I can use them for spare parts?

I'm having trouble with a Sony wega kdf-e60a20 picture worked fine but had a small yellow blur in corner, repaired blue LCD in light engine and reassembled. now TV boots on lamp comes on fans come on sound comes through but no picture? screen lights up blank but no picture? any thoughts? PS no flashing light codes, green light and bulb comes on when power is pressed. thanks in adv.

This reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad and I used to go to the hardware store and test tubes on the tester to repair our TV's. Anyway I am dealing with a Sony KDL 60EX700. Yesterday the set shut off and the red led was flashing 3 times. I disconnected the T-con (it is in a different place on mine down behind the stand... I think the plugs look the same) board and the led flashes 3 times when I plugged it back in. When I push the power button the green flashes briefly then the red led starts flashing 7 times. When I reconnect the t-con board exactly the same thing happens. Would this indicate a strong possibility of the t-con board (the listing says main board)? Thanks in advance for any help.

i have the exact same television you are working on in this video. I unplugged the TCON board and it stayed on much longer but shuts down after a minute then I get 12 blinking lights. I ordered a new TCON board but as soon as I hooked it up it had the same problem as the other shuts off gets 14 blinking lights and when unplugged stays on for atleast a minute then shuts off with 12 blinking lights. The new TCON board maybe bad but I'm not sure. My backlights work, the screen turns on but it's a black screen. could it be a bad screen?

Hey I have one if those big Sony Projection TV's. I lost my remote and can not do a convergence adjustment. How do I fix convergence with out the remote? My picture is fine except it looks as if everything has a second image behind or beside them.

Hello man! Firstly congratulations! I have a Sony KLV37M400A with had a problem in Tcon and I tried to replace the AS15 chip. But something was wrong and the chip burn. So I bought a new Tcon from China (with the same code) and after replacing it, the TV turn on for few seconds (without image) and shut down blinking red light 5 times. Can you give me some idea? Would these same steps apply for Bravia KDL-55EX710? At initial power on, the power recycles 2-4 times before the set goes to screen. (Red to Green then off, Red to Green then off and so on) Sometimes it does it once, sometimes 3 or 4 recycles before coming on. Only happens at initial power up after set has been off a while. Any suggestions would be appreciated. BTW... no distorted picture ever... on power recycle at initial power up. Thanks!

I have a kdl-65w855c and it powers on for about a second to show the Sony logo and then powers off to signal 6 times with the red light. I read that 6 blinks is related to the backlight not functioning but i can't see any difference in backlight anywhere on the screen during the time it powers on. I also read that the main board stops the tv from turning on if the voltage to the backlight from the psu board is above or below the required voltage. Is there a way to bypass this?

hi, i have a sony KDL 32Ex600. recently no picture no sound, no backlighting lighted up. green light stays, responds to remote switch on an off. if i remove tcon board, it goes to standby after power on with five flashes. i got another TCON which looks same as of this one, swapped the eproms from the existing one, but still goes to standby with 5 led flashes any suggestions.

Hello - have you encounter this issue: I can see picture but no backlit - tv turns on for just few seconds. Then turns off and shows 4 flashing red lights. Tv is a sony kd-65x9000b. Appreciate your response 👍

Hi I have a sony kdl-40s2000 it also turns off and on i can here the clicking. On the power board all the capacitators seem ok no swelling.I've checked all the cables to the invertors cleaned them, clean the convertor boards, there doesn't seem to be any indacations of burnt chips or parts on the boards. I unplugged the tcon board cables and switched the tv on after about four times it stops and gives the error by the standby 9 red blinks.Any ideas? Greetz lee from holland

Hi Tampatec, I have a 32" Sony Wega Trinitron CRT Model # KV-32HS500. When I got it, the light was blinking 5 times and the screen was black. Replaced the CH board and now I have something to watch. Problem is that everything is fuzzy. The OSD menu and the picture both. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I've got a Sony KDL-46z4100 that won't show a red stand-by light at all. TV will power on with a green light, but only with vertical lines, no sound and no ability to change the input or channels. I've purchased a main board, t-con board and power supply board off Ebay with no luck getting it to power on and work again. In fact I've tried two different main boards and power supply boards, all with matching part numbers. Any suggestions to get this thing working again would be greatly appreciated.

hello Mr Tampatec question if u could get back to me will be greatly appreciated,i have a sony KDF-55E2000 LCD it was working fine till its projection lamp was due i replaced the lamp once i try to turn the tv back on it turn off n the red light started to blink 3 times ...thanks for ur time

My Bravia kdl46hx850 is blinking 5 times and won't turn on. It could be the same problem? It can be fix changing the T-Con...or could be something else?

I have a kdl40w4100I unplugged the con board and the tv stayed on But now that I've taken the board out the standby light starts to flash but it takes at least 5 min before it does. It flashes 12 times where before it flashed 14 times. Should I still order a Tcon board - seem like new ones are hard to find

HI,I have the sony KDL-52NX800 and the darn T-con board keeps overheating and going out, I keep re flowing it with my heat gun and been trying to figure out different methods to keep it cool but I just cant figure it out!

so my back cover for my kdlW900a has two stripped screws and it's the only thing keeping me from fixing this damn TV. I have 4 blinking lights. Any recommendations?

Good video manual. Maybe you can help. Have samsung ue40d5000 samsung led TV, one day it appeared black horizontal vertical line 1px wide on my tv. I open it, clean ribbon and pull it back. Nothing change. Then I disconnected t-con board, clean it with air and reinstall it back. Now only 75% of screen workinl. Left side is ok, right side 25% of picture with higher black contrast and 25% totaly black not working. I dissasemble my screen no matrix damage or water pulling on it. T-con or matrix dead? Thx.

Hello good night I have a sony bravia kdl 46xbr5 and when I connect it to the current I give it to turn on and the television lights and the seconds it starts to flash the red light 8 times it will be able to solve that you think it is I have a friend who has one equal but I would like to know that I have to try the main card already and the logic changes them and the same fault
