On Budget EDH we build fun and optimized commander decks with a budget in mind. In this week's episode we build a Nikya of the Old Ways $100 budget commander deck from the new Magic the Gathering set Ravnica Allegiance. We will double our mana with Nikya's unique ability, flood the board with creatures and win through combat damage.

Love this. Totally my kind of old school MtG with fatties crashing in. I've been playing a Domri deck in ranked standard that's too fun and after seeing PterodactylsFTW play Gruul in the Mythic I'm so pumped to build a crazy gruul deck. Thanks for this!

Flamewave Invoker could be a decent card to give this deck a little bit of extra reach. And with the decks mana capability he becomes particularly dangerous with a Seedborn Muse, with 8 lands in play its possible to just pick on a single opponent and take them out of the game in one turn cycle.

I still really like it in the deck. Having another effect that allows you to draw when you play a creature (and the added bonus of doubling our mana) is very strong in the deck. I think including a few powerful non-creature spells is okay in the deck. Nikya will be targeted with removal and counters when you play her, so you will have opportunities to play non-creature spells throughout the game. You also have Temur Sabertooth in the deck, which you can bounce Nikya and play any spells you have in your hand at that point.
