Watch how I winch hardwood logs over an embankment and bring them beside the trailer where I process up the hardwood logs into firewood. visit my web-site and blog at lostcaper.ca
Ray, yes I kept watching and I sure thought you might get tired but you kept on whacking away. The first thing I said was 'Oh My Goodness' when you said you had to go home and remove the chains just to deliver some wood. If she's a regular customer and gets wood regularly, I'd buy some 4x8 sheets of wood and lay them down at her place and keep them tucked away. That may be too much more work now that I think of it but I'd figure something else to avoid taking off chains then replacing them. Great video; enjoyed a full watch. Have a fine week.
That's a good idea with the plywood but I usually take the chains off for the summer. Although the logging road is far from dried out, I figured I may as well take the chains off now. Oops...sorry about that. Guess I should of explained. Laying plywood is an awesome idea but in this situation there was another problem.....the driveway was 200 yards long. I will however keep the plywood hack in mind. Thanks for watching.
From not having to build as many roads to fetching trees in hard to get at places, the winch is a huge help. I often think how my father and I could of used a peace of equipment like this when we worked in the woods. In one very steep situation, dad jacked up his old woods truck, took off the duel tires, wrapped 1500 feet of cable around the drum. He tied the front bumper to a tree and would lug the cable down over the hill. There was beautiful wood there as it was never logged. We would sometimes hook onto 5 big spruce trees and winch them up to the landing. many people came to see his contraption. It worked and worked well. Even though dad could not afford a tractor and winch he made up for it in being creative. He always enjoyed his work.
I was wondering how long you were gonna try to split the with axe lol I would say the split would headed to the water cause you were parked right in it lol been trying to get back to cut more poles for pole barn but darn weather is not allowing that at the moment
Weather has been cold and wet and it was even snowing hard yesterday. The weather has set me back in my plans as well. More rain is forecasted for today so I opted for the office. Guess it all will get done sometime.
Your getting lots of exercise buddy. There never seems to be an easy way to manufacter fire wood.. A lot of handling. By the time it goes in the stove and you take the ashes out of the stove, a man handles it about 100 times. Lol.. You have a good set up though makes it easier. For those big blocks that are hard to plit, try running your saw down the middle and saw them in half.. They split easier once they are half the size. Great video!
Even a slit in the middle they sometimes split better. An old guy once said you have to handle wood so many times by the time you get it in your stove it's wore out.
Your right...getting lots of exercise but I am just going to do it long enough to get in good enough shape to become a pole dance. Guess I got a ways to go. Maybe another 3000 cords Ada do it Lol.
