Great video! It's annoying that the signage used isn't consistent with the rest of the TTC network, especially given that it's supposed to be seamlessly integrated.
Great video! I love when you mention the state of the bike lanes nearby; I'm looking forward to them possibly more than the actual transit line itself!
@@transitthinker having ridden a bike along the westbound side, I don't think there will be actual bike lanes the whole way, only for little (very short) sections...
Nice one, though it's fitting that this was just uploaded three days after the line is delayed yet again and I even made my own "thoughts" video on it.
I hope they do a better job then Toronto. It's hard to find any information about the design they will do. I once saw a "concept" of the Hwy 10 line going behind the building along hwy 10 at eglinton over the creek/storm drain then going over the 403 on its own bridge. I don't know where I saw that but finding any information on what they planing is a mystery to me.
In the southbound lanes of Yonge Street on the south side of Eglinton Avenue, there is a deep open pit that has some unfinished walls. Looking to the east within the pit, one can see the severed pedestrian tunnel that used to connect Eglinton station to a building on the east side of Yonge. Looking at the north side of the pit, one sees a cavern under the wooden decking along Eglinton. Crosslinx started digging the pit in early 2022. Hopefully, Crosslinx won't need to dig a matching pit on the east side of Yonge. I don't know why this pit is needed. In the middle of Yonge on the north side of Eglinton, Metrolinx is building what I believe is a facility for ventilation which contain concrete components that rise a few feet above street level. There seems to be a below-street level passage connecting this facility to whatever is under the wooden decking under Eglinton.
I can understand the tunnel issues, and what is happening at Yonge, but there shouldn't be an excuse as to why outside construction on the station buildings are not ready for the original September target, unless there is a labour shortage.
Thanks! I'm not too sure what you mean but testing has started on the Leslie-Ionview section. Opening that section without the rest of the line probably wouldn't be very beneficial
It's a bunch of bullcrap for this line to be delayed for the 3rd time, I think it's that the people that are working on this line must be slacking off and doing a lazy job, like look at Eglinton and Yonge for an example, the only station that is 67% completed, and I think that's the only station across this line is what's holding up delays, because work has started in 2019 and it's now on with the structural steel of the entrance building which is a very positive thing showing because this station is near in competition, but what worries me the most is the roads and the large open holes that need to be worked on, and i don't think they would ever get it done by the end of this year. Leaside by the way used to have a big hole in the road but I think they are now filling it up and restoring the roads now so that's a good thing. Honestly these workers need to get off their horses and do the job done instead of being lazy. Like I mean, it gets on my nerves a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if the Finch west was Completed first before Eglinton.
It's more than lazy. I believe all the engineers and contractors who used to work on the big subway projects retired and now we have to learn from the beginning again. Compare our construction progress to European projects who have the expertise and you will see this in action.
Please consider sound-level of video-sound-track & your sound-level of your voice-track (ie. your voice-track is not loud enough; respectively vice versa, video-sound-track too loud). Kind regards
Thanks, in my other videos the background sound is removed when I'm speaking but completely forgot to do it this time. There isn't any way to fix it without deleting and re-uploading but apolize for the sound issues!
The signage on Line 5 is really weird but this article goes into why it's not the same as the TTC’S blog.metrolinx.com/2021/06/17/we-explain-why-eglinton-crosstown-wayfinding-is-a-bit-different-from-other-toronto-transit-routes/
This has been delayed again with no respite in sight. Businesses are severely suffering because of this crap. No accountability has been taken by Metrolinx and the cost has ballooned again. Smh
oof! Rotton-Ø, ever harder on the eyes, shit!! laughably & tellingly short on urban elements what with its poxily tall insertions etc thereabouts....... 💩💩🍻
