To get to the peak, do you need to climb rocks? Is there a way around the rockbound lake as well?

There is no non-technical route to the top of Eisenhower tower. However, the summit of Castle mountain is higher than the tower and accessible via scramble from Rockbound lake. See the book "Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies".

well it is only a 5.5 so I guess rope kind of is optional if you are a half decent climber
