Another reason to not have your exhaust touch the frame. If your exhaust grounds to the frame you'll get popping coming from the stereo from the spark plugs. Thats why exhaust pipes have insulated hangers.
Dont remember the exact years but originally they were based off of the impala from 59-62ish and stopped production for a couple years. When re-introduced in 63-65ish they were based off of the Malibu/Chevelle. They are basically a 2 door Malibu station wagon with the roof cut off😂😂 same frame, suspension and rear bumper as the station wagon. Front cap is the same as the malibu. Doors are probably just 2 door Malibu with different windows. 82 they went to the what I call ugly 4 headlight caprice looking header panel was the same year the s10 was introduced and the year before they killed the malibu station wagon. GM didn't make any new changes to the header panel from 82 to 87 when they killed the el camino. 78-79 was the best looking of the 5th generation el camino front ends in my opinion.
