I'm so glad you're continuing sekiro. You should get the spear and the umbrella shield. The shield is bought at ashina castle below the old grave idol. The spear is in the warehouse near where the game started.

Sekiro feels more rewarding to me than any other Souls game once you finally get good and master the combat. Unlike other Souls games you can't just grind, over level and bash hard enemies into submission with rpg stats. You HAVE to learn the fight and overcome the challenges set before you. Each boss is a test of sorts for various mechanics in the game with some like Genichiro putting everything you have learned to the test. It feels great when that test is finally passed.

the feeling of parrying the guardian ape combos at 15:05 for the first time especially when you parry that last attack just hits different

7:40 you can deflect the snake attacks here, this is the only snake fight you can avoid damage completely by deflecting. Any other snake encounter either 1shots you or chunks your health

If you haven't figured it out yet, next time you're taking a swim in some water, instead of jumping like a fish out of water try pressing the dodge button and see what happens. 👍

I never condisered myself "a souls veteran" until i beat this game when i got to father owl it was like i hit a mental block (i refused to beat him playing defensively) and when I finally had him dialed in dude it was the sickest coolest fire fight i ever had with a boss in any game i ever played

I know this is 3 months late, during the headless phase of guardian ape, whenever he does a very telegraphed overhead swing of the sword(15:10), you can parry it and the spear prosthetic can actually pull out the centipede dealing massive posture damage

just binge watched your sekiro content yesterday. and now we got a new video after 2 months. i'm lucky

In case anyone is watching this in the future - after the ape goes headless and you deflect his combo, when he does the slam attack and lays prostrate on the ground, use the spear on his neck to do huge damage and posture damage

Imho, the fastest way to improve in this game is to give Kuro his charm back at the beginning. My second playthrough, in which I did that, demanded I get better. Plus, it greatly increases your xp gain, so you get access to all your skills/combat options faster.

guardian ape gave the most trouble out of any boss (except for the final boss) also, great choice of music

theres so many cool interactions between some tools and bosses that it's fun seeing you sort of work out or just miss because why would you know them such as theres a tool that's a whistle that once upgraded makes beast enemies attack what ever is around so when u get to the monkey gathering one blow on that and they go ham on each other also shuriken have massive effectivness increase on most small animal enemies never mind that some combat arts let you dodge sweep attack and counter lightning

It's great how everybody finds different bosses more challenging. I beat the ape in just a few tries, he died 27 times. On the other hand he beats Genichiro without dodging and Mikiri in 22 tries, I died probably more than 30 times. Great game

It's so adorable how players who started with Elden Ring instinctively default to jump attacks despite them being considerably worse than grounded combat in Sekiro

Slashing whirlwind - or a combat art with something like that name - kills pretty much that entire monkey gathering in one hit. Spin to win - wheeee! Two tips - use bite down or the hidden tooth if you have it. That will resurrect you without using your resurrection. Use it just before dying. That way you get your full two resurrections, as advertised on the box. Second, in phase two, when the ape flop dives at you, you can dodge forward. You’ll end up between his hip and armpit next to him. Just go to town on him then. Also, use oilpots and firecrackers. That’ll set him alight and, as a bonus, he’ll run around a bit more while you can whack at him longer. Keep this in mind ha ha. Also, find and fight the schichimen warrior - the ceremonial tanto allows you to swap hp for spirit emblems and is very useful.

It took me 4-5 tries to beat the guardian ape and 2nd try for the duo apes But it took me 60+ attempts to beat genichiro. It's really amazing that how different bosses can be difficult for some people and for some it's easy.

You might know by now, but you got bonked by Genichiro at the beginning because he broke your posture. You got stunned for a second.

This boss took me 40 tries to get through phase 1 and another 20 to make it through phase 2. So around 60 in total. It was brutal.

Pro tip: use upgraded flame vent for phase one.

"don't know any of his moves" knows he has a phase 2 and the roar which is the main entertainment of watching sekiro playthroughs

As a sekiro veteran (self announced) I would recommend deflecting more, anything that doesn't have a kanji symbol or needs to be mikiri countered or jumped over can be deflected. The game wasn't designed to dodge attacks but deflect them to break posture, and I know that's easier said then done but the way you beat guardian ape won't work on other bosses. Remember that and that'll get you to the demon of hatred and then from that point on, you're on your own because that's where this game becomes absolutely relentless. When you see an enemy use lightning(Genichiro) jump and then hit attack and it'll be reflected back to the enemy. I'm sure it's all been stated but if not, this game is the hardest soulsborne game and i applaud you for getting to the Guardian Ape, don't let this game break your spirit. I'd love to see you complete it.

It's a good game when you get used to blocking lots but my only bug about is when your attack power 14 in the last boss this is my last run in the game and my attack power 60 but I'm only still doing the same damage as attack 14 a bit of a joke.

It’s so strange to see others struggle so badly on bosses that I don’t really struggle with anymore. Well it doesn’t help that I’ve probably died to each boss like 100+ times over the years 😂 Also pro tip, find Gyoubu’s Shinobi spear. You’ll need it for something later haha

Hello everyone, I JUST started playing this game.. i noticed that spicy mentions knowing how to play the game “correctly” what does this mean.. i’ve heard this everywhere, but i don’t understand how you play this game “correctly” because i get 360 shit on by every living creature i come across.. (i am stuck at genichiro, and i don’t want to cheese any bosses.. i really want to enjoy this game because ninjas rule)

You are way too low on HP and attack power and missing some prosthetics and probably also some latent skills that help you with your stance resistance and inflicting more stance damage on the enemies with swords. I am replaying it now and I already got the Immortal Blade, Possession Ninjutsu, all skill type books, 15 HP and 5 attack power and still need to do the headless bosses before going for the monkey. Also, some quests will not be available anymore after defeating the monkey and picking up the lotus, as after that the Ashina invasion starts.
