Comes pre-installed with Klipper firmware, with an ARM 64-bit 1.5G main frequency quad-core processor for faster command processing and execution, enabling it to print at an impressive speed of up to 500mm/s for higher efficiency. 8G RAM provides ample storage space for fast printing.
Additionally, the printer supports advanced features such as input shaping, which reduces mechanical vibrations in the printer's motion system and artifacts such as ringing, rippling, ghosting, or echoing on the printed model surface. The pressure advance function adjusts material flow according to printing speed, ensuring consistent pressure in the nozzle and reducing filament ooze or blobbing.
ELEGOO Neptune 4 Max FDM 3D Printer with Up to 500mm/s High-Speed, 121-Point Auto Bed Leveling, 300℃ Dual-Gear Direct Extruder, Printing Size of 420x420x480mm³
Pre-installed Klipper Firmware】With a quiet Klipper motherboard and ARM 64-bit 1.5G main frequency quad-core high-performance processor, ELEGOO Neptune 4 can achieve printing speed of up to 500mm/s (recommended 250mm/s), allowing you to produce your models faster than ever before, support input shaping and pressure advance function to improve the print quality of models.
【Dual-Gear Direct Extruder】The new self-developed dual-gear direct drive extruder with a 5.2:1 reduction ratio ensures powerful extrusion and smoother filament feeding. Paired with copper-titanium all-metal throat pipe and unique air duct design to effectively improve the heat dissipation of the throat pipe and reduce nozzle blockage risk.
【300°C High-temp Nozzle】With a 300°C high-temp nozzle and an extended hot end, which means the filament can be fully melted and uniformly flow out even at high printing speed, this printer can handle a wide range of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU, and high-temperature filaments such as nylon.
【Auto Bed Leveling】The 121 (11x11) points auto bed leveling ensures quick and accurate leveling of the build platform. For perfect first-layer printing, you can also use the hand-twist knobs under the build platform for auxiliary leveling. In addition, the PEI magnetic platform allows for the easy printed models removal with just a slight bend.
【Efficient & Instant Cooling】The 2 thickened double-sided 4015 model cooling fans with strong wind for more comprehensive and efficient heat dissipation, along with the 2x6025 ball bearing blower fans behind the print head to quickly cool down the newly deposited model, ensuring good print quality even at very fast printing speed.
【Removable Capacitive Touchscreen】The 4.3-inch removable capacitive touchscreen can be operated by hand-held or fixed on the base, and features a model preview function and pause printing function for added convenience. The gantry's LED light strip, combined with an LED light on the nozzle for observing the model printing in a dark environment.

I totally understand what you’re experiencing with this machine. I purchased one and after updating firmware, both the system and touchscreen and I can’t get the same result twice in a row. It’s frustrating and I will no longer purchase Elegoo products again. When you’re from a location that’s known for crap, well I should have known. I’ve just about disassembled this machine trying to tighten and adjust with the slightest touch to dial in this thing and failure. My mistake was not watching your video before Uncle Jesse.

Yeah, it was one issue after another with this printer! There were even more! Like screen freezes, I had the some issue with the lead screw backlash nuts screws being loose, the mesh not saving the first time, and others. I am just starting to watch other videos. Seems that everyone was expecting the firmware update to fix the issues. I proved that it hasn't. Elegoo reached out to me and gave me a laundry list of things to try. The printer is on the floor, and if I have time I will give them a try. I doubt that anything they suggested will fix all the issues. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@TripodsGarageI absolutely love my N4 max. The only issues that I have had have been my fault. I think that some of these things are from the first round that was put out. That can happen. Just like cars,, there are lemons.. You got one of them.I am about to order my second 4 max in the next few days Also I haven't even done any firmware updates or anything. It runs like a champ.

I am still looking for a large FDM build 3D printer and found the Neptune 4 Max I bought from Amazon (Great return policy) and after assembly and watching more You Tube build/calibrate videos I was ready to print,did the initial bed leveling for the first but not the last time! After many re-bed levels, the only thing I could get to print was the Buddha from the usb. It was a very frustrating printing experience after two weeks and several attempts to print things I needed that I had printed on my Snapmaker J1 so I had a comparison,well the Elegoo was a mile behind the J1 in terms of quality and supplied tools. Elegoo seems to be the "discount" 3D printer manufacturer,where they could take the lead they falter ,afraid to update to higher quality tech in favor of low prices and discounts. I returned mine and will be closely following the devlopment of the Orange Storm Giga as problems with a bed slinger should be solvable on a corexy printer except errors in movement of the gantry that are size related may rear their ugly heads. For those well experienced makers this will be an excellent large printer choice.

Weird. I have one and have had zero issue. It aced dimensional tests out of the box with default settings, and I haven't had any line shifts. Maybe they made some fixes between yours and mine (mine is only a couple weeks old).

I received my N4 Max the end of November and it (worked out of the box). No stringing issues, no fan, Zed offset issues, No layer shift issues, just pure bliss. To add to that, I only use Cura provided on the USB drive and have only ever used it even on my 2S. I updated the software on the printer and the screen from the get go which was a doddle. The only issue I had was due to my error not ensuring good 1st level adhesion on a couple of prints so I just levelled the bed properly and I use 3DLac spray which fixes the 1st layer to the bed incredibly well. I think there are a ton of satisfied customers out there that don't speak up because their not experiencing issues. There are lot of happy people in the FB forums I am part of so don't be mislead. If you go to the happy feeds you will see equally lot's success stories for every bad one. Maybe this printer is a Friday special 🙂

Great review! Yours was once again more thorough than any I have watched. You didn’t just ramble, running purchases b-roll of people, or showing prints from a distance, and pushing an affiliate link. Just love all the testing you do. Seems that others had some of the issues, but said a firmware update will fix it, here is my affiliate link 😂

For the Power Supply issue and the fans seeming to struggle, I think it might be a setting in your slicer. If you're using Orca Slicer under the filament setting>cooling, you need to check the "keep fan always on" option. I had it turned off on my Neptune 4 Pro and the fan would go into variable mode, which sounded like what you're describing, but was in fact the fan just accommodating for the required cooling. I have since checked the "keep fan always on" option and it seems to work fine. Anyway, just a thought.

My 4 plus has power supply issues. I have to flip the power switch multiple times before the machine turns on. Then, if I have the LEDs on when the machine is doing anything, I get a constant flickering. I've run the updates and the fix and still has issues. I'm dealing with Elegoo's not great service now.

Ive been having all the same issues, havent gotten more than a few tiny little prints to finish. Really frustrated with having to spend so much time to get a brand new printer to work. I undestand having to do a few calibrations to get it going but not having to go out and do a bunch of research to get it fixed. Hopefully elegoo and produce a clear cut fix to produce more reliable prints from their product.

Ive had my 4 max for a little bit too now, I was having stringing issues at first and later learned that it got worse with more retraction and settled in on about 0.3mm for mine, and the nozzle hitting the print almost sounds like the ball screws or rods for the z axis aren't exactly the same and might be slightly off ... I would think this would lead more to binding but im not sure... One of the things I learned that my printer likes is printing on rafts instead of directly on the bed surface with the print. Ive leveled it and done bed leveling calibration prints to check where I needed to tweak and could probably get the first layer to print fine but the rafts just worked SOO much better. I learned that the cura software was terrible with my prints and kept giving me what looked like little zits and and blobs but otherwise worked. I soon swapped to orca slicer and this was before there were profiles for the 4 max, I just grabbed the neptune 4 or 4 pro profile and adjusted the printer bed size and tuned from there. In your video I dont think you showed calibrating the pressure advance which was one thing I did that also helped out a fair bit. These new printers from elegoo shipped out with all kinds of different firmware on them it seems because of the different experiences ive seem with different creators. This Is my first printer and its been a bit of a learning curve trying to understand what all the settings and slicer software but these printers can do some really nice prints. Is there anyway to share profiles with you? Overall it was an insightful video and thank you for sharing your experience with it and hope elegoo hears and tries to help out.

I agree that things should just work out of the box. I also had to update the firmware on my machine and the display (which was even more of a pain) but after I did the update, I have not had any of the problems you were seeing with PLA. I have yet to have a successful PETG big print because the temp control of the base seems weak but i've done lots of PLA prints with no issue and have used a couple different PLA brands like Sunlu, Amolen, and such (not really top of the line filament) so it makes me wonder if you just had some bad luck with filament and a friday special. I watched this vid to see if you got into any of the speed settings. I have been slowly increasing mine from 250 up and right now am consistently printing at 350 with no issue but haven't tuned it yet to get 500

Yeah, I've been using one for the past few weeks. I'm having issues, but the issues I'm having are different from yours. I'm trying to stop it from ghosting. I did have problems with layer shifting. But I changed the slicer settings to high quality and it seemed to fix it. But, Like you, I have heard some load knocks while it has been printing. I went in to find it hitting the supports while it was printing. I was able to print out a large model of a character that I designed. around 17 inches tall. Like good at the base, but pretty rough toward the top.

Hey buddy! I just got the Neptune 4 Max as well and wanted to offer some things that have helped me stabilize. Not the most technical approach, but I had noticed my fan was knocking into some of my prints that had tree based support. User error on my assembly, I retightened it while holding it, putting pressure "up" vs tightening with gravity pushing it down, that seemed to improve. As a temp measure, added foam padding inside any filament spool to eliminate the bounce from this height, and then set the fan to "silent" and print mode/speed to "mute" - this seems to eliminate some of the bounce, tax the power less, slowed the acceleration values down, slowed drive mute thresholds and I think so far has yielded some nice benchys across the board - its how I am running things currently for additional testing. So far I only have tested Elegoo Black and White filament (basic - not the speed kind) and have not encountered any stringing issues with that specific brand test so far. Would recommend that to track a baseline. Keep up the good work!

I'm having the same issue with the fan knocking into the tree supports. Thanks for your input on this. I will have to try this immediately. Thanks for the help! I've been running a Neptune 3 Max profile on mine for a while with the fan off. Prints great until I turn on supports. Immediately layer shifts.

I'm a total noob at this 3d printing lark and I must have been lucky because I'm knocking out perfect prints with mine. I currently have it in a chilly garage, on a very sturdy oak and marble coffee table, on carpet, over a concrete floor. I have done the firmware update but was printing fine up til then and I'm currently printing 3ft long PLA dragons for the grandkids and have done large PETG Ugrinsky turbine blades for me, back to back. I did use glue on the PETG and I have had to tighten a roller. That's it. Once dialed in it's been great and I've been very impressed with mine so far.

X gantry was not parallel to Z axis sliders. That will cause cosntant Z offset drift. Bed needs to be really tight, or even solid spacers. As for the other homing issues, sounds like firmware problem

We had the same issues with leveling and just odd artifacts. For the horrible thunk at the end of the sensorless homing travel, we had success cutting the homing travel speed in half in the printer config. There are some good giant bed slingers out there.....not so sure about fast giant bed slingers........

I've had mine for a month now with Firmware V1.2.2.64. I had a bit of a problem with the large fan being too close to the height of the nozzle which could cause the fan to touch the print, so I removed the fan. I don't need it for PLA anyway. And I also tightened some screws: the z-axis should not be loose (if it is loose, the positioning in Z is not accurate). After that I haven't had any major problems: I can turn on the power to the printer and start the first print without any calibration. Sometimes I adjust the z-offset slightly. With a printer as large as this, the thermal expansion of materials has a greater impact than for a small printer. The distance of the bed to the head can be affected by the temperature of the bed and the surroundings.

Thank you for honest review. I almost was ready to buy this but after many reviews decided to stay with my old slow printer, .. that speed 😅 not going bend stress mysrlf and spending more time for calibrating, repair,cadjysting like printing what most hobbyists do, I'll better spend time to learn design e.g. Just on first look to this build can't trust, like dd extruder keep just two small screws through thin plastic, cheap design , thus won't last, impossible keep they advertised speed on mount like that

What version of the MCU Firmware and Screen Firmware did you update it to? Be interesting to try again when they release fixes. I have issues with the heated bed not heating at expected rate errors causing shutdowns ... when trying to print PETG with the bed at 85C ... which takes almost an hour for it to get to ... prints about 20 layers and then the heated bed not heating at expected rate error ... I'm almost tempted to open it up and see if there are any wiring issues. Your detachment issues on those larger prints would occur if the heated bed couldn't maintain temperature and cooled sufficiently that the prints fell off. Those giant fans blowing col air across the heated bed when it struggles to get and stay hot are not helping ... I'm going to turn mine off for now as they don't really make sense to operate when the Z height is within an inch of the heated bed ...

Bought mine 4 Plus few weeks ago. Well, i have to tight and tune it out of the box but now it prints good except when i set wrong parametres. The big issue is no spare extruder gears in retail. Also there is "offical" Prusa profile but i don't know how good is it compared to elegoo slicer profile. Also i have to made fan mod cause stock fans are loud as hell. Nevertheless many printers in this budget has issues.

Sure thing! Go around the machine tighten everything up, make sure belts are tight and grease rails - weekly (flick it to sound like a guitar), update firmware, calibrate with a thick piece of paper (I use the resin print calibration card then do a test print and adjust further from there), calibrate the bed, dont mess with other settings! this printer was made to print outside of filament manufacture settings. Personally I use Sunlu and Amolen (PLA, SILK, PETG) exclusively for my projects with generic elegoo cura settings. Everyone wants to copy other machine settings and profiles but every machine is its own beast (Think of your surrounding atmosphere and humidity). For those looking for a plug and play get the smaller versions as the max can be a lot of maintenance. Temp, flow, retraction, and speed towers seem to be worthless as this machine uses metrics not used with any other previous machine. the more you mess with your settings the worse your print will be IMO. It prints WAY FAST and needs higher temps and optimum cooling rates to operate correctly. Good luck with your set up!@@MetaPhx

Just put it on the floor. That is where I put my N3Max. You could get away with a wobbly desk with a Core XY but not with a bedslinger. A friend of mine has the N4max, I have the N3Max and they work like a charm! The constant movement of the bed will make that table wobble, and printing at lower speed is like throwing away money. Good luck and best of results!

If you can, get something the size of the base, heavy, and dense. In my case I had some non-magnetic steel in nearly the same size, and under that I epoxied a 5/8 block of EPDM rubber (the type of rubber is important, there are other options but this is what I had) and I can print at nearly any speed now without vibration issues. If you have it on a table as well, try different areas of the table, I.E to one side(assuming its still stable) and directly over some legs. you will have an order of magnitude less vibration than being in the center between supports.

I would adjust the z-offset first them do the 121 point leveling. As the z-offset pulls down the nozzle. So, you will be crashing into the bed using the same mesh. Elegoo should have made it an automatic z-offset level with a physical z switch. also an issue i noticed is if you adjust your z-offset. relevel, then adjust again it will adjust from the previous set one and be off. I agree with it needing rails. the POM wheels can't keep up. I keep mine at at 100 mm/s for printing. any more then that it can't keep up. the N3Max is solid. It is the firmware they rushed out.

Yes this printer when first released and even until recently had all these issues but , .64 firmware solved all of the issues mine is printing like a dream , I would suggest adding silicon spacers and some Teflon tape on the screw threads , cause the movement of the machine will vibrate the wheels loose and throw off the leveling
@Apparelphernalia

Bro the power issue might have something to do with the power wire where it connects into the machine. It seems like a lot of these wired connections are loose for some reason. I bumped the power cord earlier and the machine shut off and then jiggled the wire and it came on and back off. It seems like the connection is super loose.
@MikeFalcor
@MikeFalcor 2 месяца назад
When this printer first came out, there was an issue in the firmware that did NOT retain the Z offset calibration after a power cycle. That has been resolved with an update. Proper bed leveling will also resolve a lot of the print issues. A lot of vibration-related issues will be resolved by switching to sliders vs the POM rollers, which also increases your print speeds without loss of quality. What no amount of calibration can fix is the fact that the build plate flexes (distorts) as it heats, but you can (mostly) address this with a simple change to your print start gcode as detailed by Functional Print Friday. All of the issues you have are fixable with a little work, but I also understand that you made this video before the firmware fix was released (I think). I know that the updates on this 3DP are a PITA, but you should give it a second look. I have mine dialed in now, using proper retraction settings, and it is wonderful.

I'm 5 months in on my N4 Plus. I've had nothing but issues. This printer is epic on paper, but this thing is causing me to not want to venture further in this hobby. Seems like z offset is not saving right. Yes I'm updated. The Z states it's saved but when traming every print it just seems the z is not where I just set it. I'm putting my money on KAMP. Fingers crossed.

Tighten your belt(s) The big bed jumps time on the Y easily. Mine did this initially. Yours is definitely way over-extruding/oozing which mine (and others) Definitely didnt experience. Not sure where to point you but maybe its running hot? Since so many didnt have this at all it seems like hardware. I havent seen a wispy hair yet and can voice that bottom text on my own models are nearly perfect. Hope you find the culprit. Good luck!

Greetings! One of the first things I did was tighten the belts, just "slipped" my mind. Yeah, I tried temps from 190-210c with PLA. 200 seemed the be around the correct number. What is the biggest concern is that the bed just doesn't mesh level. Elegoo has sent my issues to their R&D Team, waiting to hear back,. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Combing what you (running hot) and another poster (fan needs to be held up while assembling) said - I’m guessing the fan is pointing slightly up and cooling the thermistor so temps are slightly wonky and the fan is also hitting spots on the print because it’s hanging low

Think that can be said with lot of models. I never had an issue with the 3 other Elegoo FDM printers I reviewed. This was simply a train wreck. Given that the review is sitting 94.4 likes, tells me that the Elegoo camp isn't happy with my review. As I mentioned, I had to turn down the FLSUN review. Simply too tall for me and a one legged guy on a step stool to change filament wasn't going to work. I did review the Super Racer and it was a great machine!

i think there's a couple of competing things going on - yes, clearly the 4Max and 4Plus seem to have been rushed, and that's a bad thing, but also they're on the cheaper end of town meaning you shouldn't expect these to be "pre-assembled to our tolerances" machines. If I wanted a "less fiddling" machine I would have bought a Bambu Lab (ok I jest - I bought the 4Plus for it's size, I don't know if there is a decent option in the "less fiddling" category that has that build volume). Clearly there's still some bugs to be worked out in the firmware as well, lets hope another few weeks/months will see this thing get much more stable.

I totally agree, I have had the Neptune 4max a week or so and have failed prints all the time, I have gone through 4 reels of PLA and had about 1 good print, I have updated the machine firmware and UI firmware. I was watching another print fail last night, just sitting watching the nozzle hitting parts of the print when I noticed 4 little nuts that hold the thread carriers to the Z rail/ screw things, wobbling around, upon further examination they were all loose and the rail had some up/down movement. I tightened them all, did another bed level and guess what? It still didn't fix it. Don't know what to do now?
@MB-rh3vo

Did you check the nuts on the print unit? Did you check if you have a wobbly heat bed? The design proiblem with the N4 is that it still uses POM wheels. But that is a really easy fix, actually.

The N3 line is significantly better than the N4 line. You can definitely improve the quality but it will not match the N3 quality no matter what you do. I agree 100% elegoo effed up big time and the N4 line is going to hurt their brand. For those stuck with the N4, the best thing they can do to improve quality immediately is ditch elegoo cura for normal cura or orcaslicer. You can fix the layer shifting doing that and use better machine code. I sold mine and bought a N3 and I’m much happier

So sorry to hear it! Unfortunately I was sick and couldn’t get to this review earlier. This could have possibly warned people earlier. I watched videos after my post, most said their issues might be fixed by an upcoming update. While pushing their affiliate links. As you can imagine, I didn’t get one affiliate sale from this video. This is the way it should be! I did the update, and it did nothing to fix my issues. As you see in the comments, people are still reporting these issues. I only heard back from the manufacturer once after I posted the video, and nothing since. I have worked with Elegoo for about two years, this silence probably means our relationship is most likely over. Being honest comes with consequences. Some creators don’t want to jeopardize their relationships.

It is simply unacceptable for a printer to have so many problems. This appears to plague the Neptune 4 series based on my experience with a Neptune 4 Pro that is the absolute worst printer I have by far. Judging by many comments online, others are equally exasperated with it and other Neptune 4 printers. I don’t know what Elegoo was thinking when they released such a half-baked product that is bound to trash their reputation. I was pleased with my three Elegoo Neptune 3 series printers; whatever problems developed were easy to circumvent or live with. In contrast, problems with the Neptune 4 Pro make it utterly worthless.

(Long Post )I got the Neptune 4 pro. Ugh! What was I thinking trying to print R/C plane parts and glider parts with this printer. It might be good for ornaments and cosplay. The issues could be a lot of things like the Z-axis and leveling and... yadiyadiyada. I got what I payed for! My issue is adhesion to the build plate. The first layer starts fine but then after the 3rd or 4th layer I see the edges of my print start to bow up from the build plate: yes its leveled, yes I adjusted the z-offset, yes I tightened the the support bars on the gantry, yes I re- calibrated the bed with the auto leveling, yes I used a bubble level to level the bed manually .They even provided a glue stick which is low quality. No matter (The Foo Fighters Hero theme) "There goes my priiiint sliding across the bed". I want to like the printer I really do, but I need reliability not "Its Great for beginners and it has Wi-Fi" fluff. The filament could be wet so I ordered a new spool to see if that helps. I am getting stringing issues as well (always had that). I don't know how it managed to get through the last print, when it finished my print literally fell over when I poked it 😳. At this rate I'll be spending $1500 on a x1 carbon. I have potential customers asking for R/C , drone and Automotive parts. I am not a pro, but I am definitely not a beginner especially when it comes to modeling. Shockingly the Longer lk4 did wonders for me when I started this hobby. Except for its limited material capabilities and its faulty ribbon cable its not a bad printer from my experience at all, manual bed leveling as well. I used Sl3cer on that one it was so much fun. I still have some hope for this machine though. The half day long adjustments and wasted test filament make me question how green of a company they are as they claim to be green. I wont recommend a specific 3d printer because I don't own this channel and I don't know what you're trying to print. All I can recommend is that the more you plan on designing custom things yourself and making things for other people you need to accept that you are going have to invest a little more. If you're downloading files off Thingiverse and are just trying to have fun then - these printers can be good for you! That's what its about fun! If you are trying to do more hardcore design stick with the tried and true industry leaders. My Big 3 are Prusa, Bambu labs, and I say this with a "sigh" Creality. I know, I know, Creality has a lot of issues, but they have a lot of users and resources as well that's why I list them. You may have a different opinion and that's perfectly fine. You may not get the giant build area you want so you'll have to learn print your project in parts. I'm doing that with this printer anyway🤷‍♂.
